I came across an article by Syncaine yesterday and found it rather interesting. What the article says is that if you bought Aion (he uses Aion as it is the most recent exemple) and didn't like it, then you have no rights to complain. Why? Because NCSoft never mentionned they were going to make a game any different from the classic cookie cuter. Since we have a lot of love/hate threads about Aion recently, I thought it was something that should be posted here: ---------------------------- |

We are star-stuff, the Universe made manifest, trying to figure itself out. |
This is in sync with several columns on this site, about pre-launch hype getting dangerous and Betas becoming less and less of a testing ground, so that any flaw is harped about and makes a lot of people quit a game that's not even a few days old... |

I preordered Aion directly from NCSoft, then when I discovered the game was almost idential to Lineage 2, and full of bots and goldsellers, I complained and was offered a full and immediate refund, which I accepted. Assuming your TL;DR is accurate, then the blog isn't. |

MMORPG Character Monuments ...When its time for your character to take a well deserved rest... |
I will admit that NCSoft and AION had a lot more opportunity to try out the game than other mainstream MMOs. This is a game that you could play the chinese version withhout too much issue, and you could get into beta without paying anything. IN the end its always consumer beware, but NCSoft did its part to allow people to try before buy |
