To be or not to be.

I agree on that! More revealing designs for female characters would surely spice things up.

Actually less is more, men outfits are way to overloaded in terms of actual flexibility. Full plate knights where carried around in a carriage and where more or less like ancient tanks from WW1.

There is a reason why people in sports are wearing super tight stuff :P.

I believe that Last choas (that has an ad running at mmorpg.com) is on the right track.  It shows a chick using a thong that lets us know that she is taking care of her private parts....

I dont know if I should laugh or cry.

Higher level female character equals to more revealing clothing - it gives more incentive to level up :D

Yay for arogant narrow minded posts from sexist womanising males!

If female avatars need to have more revealing clothes & armour for the men to lust over, then the male avatars also need to have more revealing clothes & armour for the women to lust over. Oh what you mean you would find it off-putting having to look at semi-naked men being portrayed as sex objects while you play?

Yeah thats right Einstein.......women play games as well. Shocking isnt it!

The male community will let you know when it cares.

This is a message to the general populace of MMORPG.com as it is literally a black hole of fun that once you are swallowed up by, it is very hard to escape and makes everything in gaming a little less fun. Best thing you can do is do your own research and stop reading these boards because nothing will ever be good enough and everything will suck always forever if it makes its way into a discussion here.

There is no "male community". There are only individuals.

The point being made in neons post isn't even valid. Women don't react the same way as men to that type of thing.

Some of you are taking this to seriously, it's a male dominated genre of gaming if you cant stand these arguments gtfo.

Now granted I voted yes, because the OP was Obviously sarcastic.  My vote was also sarcastic, however, in an effort to objectify women even more, my next post will be a "How many camels is your wife actually worth?" thread.

I don't know if the OP was being sarcastic or not, but I thought I'd take the time to add an opinion to the discussion.

Rather than "more revealing clothes" for women -full stop. I'd like to see more variety in armor/appearance clothing in general in MMORPGS, for both genders. Having a character that looks and dresses in a way you find pleasing (regardless of gender of player or character) is important to bonding with said character and game. At least for me. This is especially important (but not exclusive to) if you also roleplay in game. Not to mention that variety in clothing/armor style helps make a more diverse and immersive world.

I admit I am a bit tired that the typical armor available to female characters in games are less than modest. I do not want to see them removed, I just think there should be more options. While there is of course the argument that modest clothing doesn't fit into x-game, well, what do you think the elderly folks of that IP wear? (Assuming there are elderly of course).

This is not to say that I don't sometimes enjoy decking my characters in sexy outfits, including appearance slots where available. If I feel that sort of thing fits my idea of who that character would be, then I go with it.

However, I think there should be more choice. Or possibly even something like a modesty toggle or slider. Want a bikini? Slider to 0, want hiking pants? put it to 2. That is just a random example, and I fully realize it would be a lot of work and require 2 or more designs per armor piece.

I know it's not likely to happen, or at least not likely to happen in games that already use a very specific armor/clothing design. It's just wishful thinking for future MMOs.

Indeed you're correct. We live in a male dominated society where women have been conditioned to accept the fact that its normal for them to be depicted as sex objects and lusted over by the blokes.....so no they dont react in the same way as your typical macho bloke to that type of thing.......on the surface. Just because they're not incredibly vocal about it (ie they dont feel the need to prove how "womanly" they are to other women) doesnt mean they arent interested in looking at blokes in revealing clothes though does it. Women are interested in sex as well ya know.

So really my point is totally valid. I'm simply being open-minded. If its alright for men to oggle semi-naked women (which it is by the way) then women should have the opportunity to oggle semi-naked men (which is also perfectly fine). Whats wrong with that? Its only fair. But oh gosh that means challenging the accepted biased standards of our society! We cant have that can we.

If women liked to oggle as much as men, there would be an equal number of male and female strip clubs.

Have you noticed there are strip clubs with women taking off their clothes everywhere, but no male strip clubs at all? That's because they can't make enough money to stay in business.

Uh. There are tons of male strip clubs for women, look around. Maybe not as many as for men, however, it's not just due to difference in lust, it's also much more acceptable (and even reinforced!) for men to look at naked women. There's porn for women, strip clubs for women, even playboy-esque magazines for women. While I agree a woman's biological lust for sex is on average less than that of an average man, I think you're severely underestimating women. My girlfriend, for example, loves sex a tad more than I do.

It's not even attractive. You think those women from Soul & Blade and Terra Online are attractive? Wow, you need to get out more and appreciate other features like a soft face, look, voice and the way genders just differ.

Not everyone who plays these games is 14 you know. There's more to some, and I stress 'some', women than boobs shaped like a submarine.

Yes.

Although I could also make up silly excuses and deny the fact that I like to see them.

Bah, I hate hypocrites. We all know there is more to another person then what meets the eye, thank you very much. That doesnt mean we dont appreciate sexy curves. No matter if its real, a drawing, or a toon in a game. It seems to me that you need to grow up and accept that. You can all act 'civilized', but I just know that you look (not only subconsciously) at boobs, asses , legs etc.

Oh, btw ..the women do that too! :p

EDIT : forget what I said, if your wife/girlfriend was looking over your shoulder while you posted that nonsense :p
