Hi all,

Just joined AoC and trying to find a server with decent population.  I've tryed both oceanic as Im from Australia, however both seem to have low population.  Mind you Im not past level 7....still would have thought their would be more ppl.  Did a search and could only see 30 ppl on at that time...would that be accurate? Ty.

Heya, mate. I didn't even know there were separate Oceanic servers, and I couldn't find any checking YG. I'm afraid you'll have to rely on other Aussies using this forum...

yes the oceanic servers are dead, the few aussie players left are playing on north american servers (latency can be a big problem, but no players is a bigger problem). expect all downtimes to happen during peak Oz hours (was so even when oceanic servers had pop).

i would also like to know what is a good server to start on with high pop.

It depends if you want PvP or PvE or RP. Also, are you in NA or EU?

im primarily looking for PvE with som pvp at later levels when i played the game at launch pve was my favorite part of the game and i loved the dungeons , Im looking for NA server

I do not have toons on Bloodspire which is the oceanic PvP server, but what I have seen on the forums it appears rather low. Gwahlur the PvE server is somewhat busy at Aussie primetime. The only problem is most of the people playing at that time are already L80 and are most likely raiding or farming mats/recipes. Our population took a big hit with the server transfers. Most of the US players moved to the higher pop servers to play with other US players.

All the NA/Oceanic servers are in the US so no matter which one you play on you will have high latency. So for PvP that can be an issue. I know for PvE it does not seem to matter much. Since I play in a Aussie guild there appears to be no real difference in game play even with my lower latency. So I guess it depends on what you are looking for in the game.

I was told Wiccana or Set are well populated PVE servers in NA and Tyranny is well populated for PVP. Not sure myself but im thinking of trying AOC again and asked on a different thread.

Aercus, your comments in this thread are exactly what AoC needs to improve. Keep up the great work!! I mean unsensitive people with a tunnel vision generate plenty of positive things!

Yea I agree the first comment was slightly humorous, but after that they weren't.

There are no servers with anything close to a high population so roll on the only populated PvP server....why? Because it will be the most populated. Tyranny for America.

If you roll on a PvE server you will be waiting forever untill the next string of server mergers. So evern though the peopl ewho cared about PvP bailed and there are fewer, they are all on the same pvP server, while PvE pop will be split up.

The realty is, AoC is crashing hard now, and AIon is taking many players so untill server mergers which wont happen, AOC will not have a healthy population. EDIT: Forgot to say, the other MMOs coming out pre AoC expansion will take many more. so will players blindely buy another new release from Funcom and come back a year + now when the expansion is released?

EIT: Yeah do not play AoC if you are from oceanic area....there are not enough players. Lol one of my grouping mates in AoC is playing from guam with no lag so unless you can do that in AoC, I would find another game.

This is the case, Wiccana is known pretty much as a casual & rp friendly server. Wiccana also has alot of groups that do some of everything (pvp minis, siege, & raid). Set is more hard core server with a strong group of raiders. Tyranny is well a pvp server and Cimmeria is a much friendlier pvp server.

Hundreds of millions of dollars?! And here I thought they were going bankrupt and were on a skeleton crew? Guess I have missed the incredible logic behind your reflected and unbiased opinions :)

They stated that the company will be spending a lot on marketing.....because of word of mouth about how garbage this game is, if I was a marketing manager...my money would go to shrills because paying an empliyee 15 bux for an hour a day to spam various forums about how great this game is, is cost effective.....I'm not saying it happens here, but at gamespot there are at least 3 shrills and then other accounts that are alts of these shrills.

AoC is so awefull that its population is rapidly falling and will continue to fall until the expansion.  Funcom has to do something. Since it can;t compete with other MMOs, the only option is using low budget advertising to bring in people who are so disconnected from MMOs that they don't now better.  "Buy now for a free mount!!!!"  "So easy a girl can play it!!!!"   "AOC is the best game ever, I just tried it!" 

The good news is Funcom is in gg game, they are like an airborne airplane that had two engines and a wing fall off. So unethical behavior does not pay. EDIT: You could log onto any server in any other MMO and bring up AOC and you would not get one positive comment  aside from graphics so the arketing money of Funcom is being invested poorly.

The are going bankrupt slowly, like it was said in Tommy Boy, you are either growing or dying, there is no third direction. Sure AOC isn't a brakepad division of Funcom but fuck man, if 96% of your customers don't still play that is a disaster and putting a sugar coat on that is like slapping some goat splooge on a cowpie and calling it a cupcake.

If Funcom didn't spend so damn much trying to market their game before it was finished, they might have been able to have a more complete product with a better management team, and more coders, which would have caught on with a better trend line, i.e. a complete game which half as many people know about and word of mouth combined with limited ad buys would have hyped just as much as their hype machine when they delivered an incomplete broken mess, which drove away 50% of the base in 3-4 months.

Companies everywhere are overspending and I understand you have to remain competitive but Funcom has never ever had a marketing problem except that they do it too much, its untrustworthy and they put too much effort into shining shit. Ya get me?

Deliver a gold bar for a product and you'll be rewarded, deliver a shit brick and call it gold and you will not. Simple as that sir.

No. I just dont like being ripped off over and over, or being part of a club being ripped off, or seeing a company such as Funcom survive ripping off customers. Which is why I'm here everyday to point out the areas they need to improve and to remind folks that this game is doomed and this company doesn't deserve your money.

Alot of folks are uninformed on the points being made and with the shill operation still going on and the marketing of the game everywhere it is my sworn duty to avenge my dead guild in this way.

That's to bad, especially when there is a free trial for people to check the game out for themselves or past players to make an alt account to see how much has changed.

There isn't a good server with high population in AoC...  The game is dead, try SET it has the highest population but every server is like a ghost town.  I just canceled my sub because of the lack of players.
