Secondly, you're serious?  You're judging (harshly) a game due out in a YEAR?  What kind of broken-english crack are you smoking?  Yeah it looks like some of the f2p asian games, but I'm sure that is just the way they want it to look.  I'm sure the quality and quantity of things in it will surpass something like FF or 9 Dragons.... Anyway... meh

By free, i mean you buy it one time and its free forever like guild wars. There are many different kind of sense with f2p:(F2p by buying stuff in game with real money or unlocking new features, f2p by buying the game 1st and free forever, f2p by buying each expansion one after an other like guildwars.)

APB will be f2p and it had been confirmed here at mmorpg.com. (You buy the game and its free for ever kind of f2p)

Im guessing that most of you think i hate the game for the graphic or the anime style of graphics. Well, its not for taht at all because i dont care about the graphic, but the gameplay only. Wow, i didnt like they style of pvp because it was all about instanced pvp so i cancel my account after 2 months, just after i hit lvl 70.I left aoc, too much instances. Pve started to get boring and pvp was also boring.

It looks like a great game to me. New combat experience, Beautiful graphics engine, unique story, and the races so far looks very Final Fantasy - esque. Not to mention, the trailer they released was ALL gameplay footage. That is very talented and professional on their end. So far most everyone on the boards is impressed with it thus far.
 

Looks like your all alone with your opinion :P. Just because it's an Asian-import MMO doesn't mean it has to automatically be F2P. Take Lineage 1&2 and Aion for example. All three of them have had huge success in the west.

Character selection is what i want to talk the most. To me,the character selection look kind of sexist. I mean, there is a woman almost naked. The one with the white robe is so tight, we have the feeling that we can see trought it or we already see trought it. Sexe symbole is how they represent them it seem. If i was a woman, i would feel offended.

In other word, i think this is where they try to bring the selling point. By showing woman like this. Im guessing that in front of the box cover, there will be a woman almost naked. There had been a journal at mmorpg about woman on the cover or something and this is where tera want to raise their selling point i bet.

And it seem like tera is not on the top 5 most anticipate game and he was number 1 like 3 or 4 days ago only i think. No one is interested at the monster hunter, fantazy star online gameplay unless they are F2P.

If you're going to say the game is going to fail, then by all means, let it. And since when did PvP define how you judged a game? PvP shows nothing more about the game other than the... well, PvP. If anything, they should just show more gameplay to give us an idea of what other things we could expect.

I highly doubt that. It's a system that would most likely do more harm than good. Imagine having something like in a raid zone where your spellcasters would end up killing the tanks, and themselves getting killed by the boss subsequently.

Im not a no target system hater since im a fan of fps games and i hate games with target system anyway, but this game just look too bad for me. If you play that game and you decide to do some pve, get ready to spam AOE after aoe after aoe after aoe. You wont even need to be smart to know wich aoe to use this time. Just invite a tank that will take all the mob, a dps mage that will trow a huge fire ball and a healer to make an aoe heal if its ever in lol.

So thats it. You like that game, you enjoy to do aoe. The only game where i enjoyed to do aoe stuff is in diablo only where you could kill mass monsters with mass blood that drops on the floor. I see that game as a spam fest type of game and i hate game that make you believe that you are a skilled player if you spam mindlessly.

I have to say if this game is anything like monster hunter, then sign me up. Monster Hunter had one of the greatest gearing systems in any game I've played, and the combat was actually very entertaining I thought. There is no way this game could ever be free, even if it tried.

well, 30 million development cost means it's p2p for sure.

I will say that WoW did have one thing right. Having a free roam seemless environment WITH instances.  This game just in its early stages seems to have a lot more promise than  some of the games that are upcoming and that have already been released. I for one am willing to give it a go.

Totally agree here, I am amazed at the abuse of instancing in MMOs over the last few years, I mean I remember when I first played L2 and this was when drawn the line and have really put the mindset towards "this is acceptable and its seamless I wont take anything lower than this" but years after, only really WoW has rivaled in open world, every other game has decided to go for the "instance everything" route and its really sad for me at least, ppl blame gfx, while they cause some overhead they are not the main issue, most of the instancing sometimes comes down to design decisions, developers would rather create less content by pushing ppl into instances, and this is the sort of design decisions that have been happening more and more lately, we are getting away from MMO and interaction to the GW model where ppl only really interact massively in hubs and thats to prepare for these micro managed environments.

Darkfall has a 100% instanced world and was pretty incredible.

Tera looks pretty good though.

You want to see how you kill a mass of stupid monsters that are too easy, look at this. With bunch of poor aoe easy implemented spells, you can kill a mass with a small group. No you cannot RP as a william wallace because he could not even do that with a small  group. They claim its revolutionary, but at the end, you use the old trick from the mmo that are like wow to kill. You need a tanker, a healer, a dps a this and that. The only word revolutionary for them is the none target system. Me, a fan of darkfall i do respect the none target system, but it does not mean that target system take less skills then none.

Only reason i say i rather go play diablo 3 when it will come out, why i compar it, because in both games, you can kill mass of monsters with bunch of aoes. Thhat kind of style i can play it free rather then paying per month already. I just think that tera is a waste of money to pay per months because there will be upcoming game on ps3 taht will look like tera, but less massive:

If you think it looks F2P ,you need your eyes checked.This game at least in the videos of course looks as good as any game out there.As pointed out by another poster,the animations look great,that shows effort by the developing team.

As far as game play goes,who knows,we are all speculating on looks alone,so ya i don't have any concrete value for the game,only what we see,witch is at least promising.

You want graphics, ps3 is that way.(No diss to ps3 because i have it and its better then 360 to me anyway)

Graphics are only in a game to make ppl buy it. For an mmorpg, its all about the longterm gameplay and after the end game longterm. If you count on graphics, its great, but it wont appeal to the mass. the mass will buy it, but mass of players will quit too when they are done. Look at what happen with Age of conan. If you didnt play it, i enderstand that you didnt get your lesson. So for an mmorpg, you should never be in love with the graphics. I dont say that mmorpg should no more try to make good graphic like aoc, but im just saying that for an f2p game, you should not fall in love with the game yet with just the graphics stocked in your brain.

I think this game will appeal to a small niche audience anyway.

This looks like every other Shaiya, Aion, L2, etc etc game.  It should be F2P or it wil fail big time here.  There are too many games coming out like it that are F2P.  Other than that crazy AOE targeting system, there is nothing new to see here,  Another yawnable fantasy asian game.  Move along...

You mean like Aion, L2 which are the only other successfull MMOs every produced apart from WoW and EVE, no other MMOs have been successfull for a long time, whatever you want to say about these games, AION is holding its own ground in today's market, L2 also held its own ground when it was released, so does EVE and WoW for that matter every other MMO released is grasping onto straws to keep their head out of the water and they can barely do it or have some crazy cash cow behind them (READ SOE), I for one applaud korean games (not all of them) but the bigger projects are usually very good and are proven to have their own success.

Recently I had the pleasure of talking to someone who has been to South Korea to do a talk on AI and the reality there is much different people are more interested in gameplay and how to make it fun rather than trying to push pretty gfx with empty gameplay like most western companies, even now there are 2D mmos being released there who are "inferior" in gfx but their replayability and fun factor are just off the roof and that makes them very popular, companies havent really grasped that concept over here and thats really sad. This is not to say they dont do pretty gfx which they obviously do but their model is much more realistic towards the market (I believe that is what makes Blizz succeed with their products also), while companies like Funcom think they can deceive the customer with pretty gfx until they find something fun to implement.

And last but not least, there seems to be some sort of racism towards not western game developers in these forums, and everyone seems to want to bash these games just for the sake of it.

Raven, i think i see where you from. Ragnarok online right? Your sign look just like their assassins. Well, myself, im not vs the korean mmorpg character models or games. I also played ragnarok online and i had a real account. This game was really great because the action was fast and it was one of the best pvp game for me so far. Even when i try wow after RO, i didnt like wow at all and decided to go back to RO. I also think that RO is the best game that play like diablo so far and once the ds version will be on the nds, i will buy it full price.

So you see, im not interested in graphic, but gameplay only and RO pvp and even pve was fast paced enough to me and really adictive. Even if there was no quests, it was perfect to me. I was a stalker BTW, but i finally left the game for darkfall because i needed a risk vs reward type of pvp. RO was only a fun pvp game and pve, but later on, i didnt feel like being rewarded enough and i didnt like the grind.

Are you guys serious? I think the game looks like it has great graphics, refreshing combat, and polished gameplay.  I don't like jumping on bandwaggons but I am very excited about TERA, Continent of the 9th and Blade and Soul.  I can't wait to hear more about them as they look so much more fun then the craptastical western MMO's comming out these days.  I personally hope these games set a new standard in GFX & Gameplay so US companies will stop making second rate games.  Here's to hoping!

The problem with F2P is that content and maintenance becomes major issues. With P2P, the company is more funded in order to keep up servers and allow more in game content. Another issue with F2P is a lot of them have you constantly running to Wal Mart or the nearest gas station to buy cards loaded with points just so you can get that extra special gear and features when most of us would rather just EARN it in-game. People complain about MMOs now having that Final Fantasy look but honestly, the D&D character type designs looks stupid. And the anatomy is way off. If I am going to spend countless hours having to look at my toon, I would rather it be somewhat appealing. Asian art just looks better period.  And finally, "Zoned" instances suck. That's like telling a group of people they can fight in a 10 x 10 room and when they're done, have them go back home but only if they take a predestined path instead of a short cut by placing invisible walls. When I play MMOs, I don't want restricted travel. L2 had it right and so did WoW. I enjoyed the fact that I could literally walk from IF to Arathi. Eventually yes you get FPs, but I remember those countless hours exploring new land with other people. MMO'ers now days just wanna fight over and over. I personally wanna travel, explore, fight, grind. Sorry. But the fore mentioned games are pretty much my standards. I will be looking forward to this game along with Cataclysm.

Did you really need to post all that? I didnt said that tera should be f2p, i said that it look like an f2p game because it remind me of a lot of games that i played. And if you want the kind of world that you just describe in your post, i suggest you to try darfkall online, but the hard part is that if you lose, you lose all your gears, but its easy to regen them. Its more a sandbox mmorpg.

Just want to start off that Steparu is the man when it comes to foriegn mmo's. I also wanted to point out that the video you chose actually increased my intrest in this game because it shows great team michanics. The character that we followed in the vid was actually pushing the grunts into the middle so that the main Warrior dps could easily slash away at them. She also was using her vortex thing for the same reasons. That (imo) is fucking awesome. Where you got spamming skills from idk...
