Just be sure there wil be a LOT of paid services. Blizzard needs very quickly find a solution for the free to play - normal - games they publish. It is NOT good if they sell 8 million SC2 copies and that people keep playing that game for years (as every Blizzard game was played btw in the past) and ... that it would mean they will leave WOW (and the much more lucrative subscriptions income). WOW generates the equivalent of around 30 to 40.000.000 YEARLY "copies" sold ONLY by selling the WOW subscriptions in the west (not even counting China/Taiwan etc...). NO other game can sell 30 million copies each year, not even a Blizard game, so Bnet is a way to recuperate money. SC2 is a safe test (because RTS is far far away from fantasy mmorpg), but D3 will be an even greater challenge to "canalise" income. Interesting and challenging times ahead .... to watch. Edit: and in the end ... only the best games will get paid/played (as always) for longer periods of time. I was baffled two weeks ago when - for the first time ever - I put in the SC1 CD. I DISLIKE rts. I can't stand the clicking and key rts games. And guess what. ... I played for 5 hours straight a 12 year old game. It is then I knew Blizzard could ran into trouble if they kill their own golden chicken. |

I am not against the BNet features btw. I just pointed out the pitfalls Blizzard has to watch out for when launching their next (free) games. I for one would NOT be against a playing fee for all future games. High quality games will always sell themselves and I think a small fixed fee just to play very good games is an assurance. I certainly would prefer a small fixed fee (let's say 4-5 dollars a month) instead of so called "free" to play games in which you have to buy "tokens" for opening up content or gear or whatever. I KNOW Blizzard said SC2 and probably D3 will be essentialy free to play and BNet is a free service too. But I wouldn't mind pay to play games - in all genres - at all. It weeds out the duds faster and makes for longer lasting gaming communities. It's SO NICE to discuss tactics, classes, dungeons, maps, fights with RL friends whan you simply play a game longer. The present day "life" of a typical video game is 3 months and then it is "out". Not good for the satisfying socialising. (a good game should be played years). That's the advantage too for certain games who can stand the test of time (like WOW, EVE, ...) whether you like them or not. |

I tried merging......it fed up my WoW account. I can't access it with any known email password combo I use. WTG blizz |

Seriously, so much bitching and moaning over a simple upgrade in how one accesses WoW and other current/future Blizzard accounts. Do a little research and you'll find the answers you seek! I love the idea, and if the first thing that comes to mind; which has for several already is OMG all my accounts will get hacked now, then you need to rethink your online activities outside playing WoW. Stop being a dumbass and clicking on mysterious links sent to you in-game or though email, and find safer porn / cheat / torrent sites to visit if you refuse to protect your PC properly! Battle.net and WoW Accounts Merger!
What is the new Battle.net? What is the history of Battle.net? What is the Real ID feature? What are some of the communication tools available in the new Battle.net? Will classic Blizzard Entertainment games be supported on the new Battle.net? Will a forced migration to Battle.net occur for World of Warcraft players? What will change in World of Warcraft after the forced migration? |

ah, your a night elf, that explains it :P -A low post count doesn't always mean a dummy account for flaming or fanboi posting, sometimes it just means you don't shoot your mouth off randomly to see the numbers under your name increase........or you only really post after the 2nd case of beer |

That isn't really fair Coffee, there does seem to be some fundamental issues at the moment with the process. I registered for my battlenet account two days ago and still have not recived a confirmation e-mail. Have logged back into it, checked all the details are correct and re-sent the e-mail, but still nothing! You know how big a fan of Blizz and WoW i am, but i do have some worries if they can't get that right from the off. Have guild mates who were unable to access their accounts for anything from hours to a couple of days after this process too, so it looks like they need to sharpen this up before crunch time comes around. It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays. |

aye maybe it was a little harsh, but its was smooth for me and of those of my guild who have done it. I do work in IT support so often when some on complains about logging in etc the first think that springs to mind is their incompetence as 9 times out of 10 it is their incompetence. =D I guess with millions of accounts needing to change to bnet 2.0 there will be issues. |

Well they'll be testing Bnet 2.0 when they get around to the SC2 beta, and part of Bnet 2.0 is cross game communication so they probably want Wow moved to bnet 2.0 so they can test that too. As to wether you need to sub back to get the penguin, probably not. |
