http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Union:_The_Business_Behind_Getting_High

i just watched the video "The Union: The Business Behind Getting High" .... And i must say it has really opened my eyes to just how big of a factor Hemp and Marijuana would play in the world. Weed isn't dangerous, it doesn't make you commit crimes, it does no harm to your body. Yet the world today still thinks its bad. Also hemp being illegal is even more outrageous, it isnt dangerous, hell it has 25,000 different pharmaceutical uses and 50,000 other different uses. INCLUDING PAPER!!!! That means deforestation can slow the fuck down.... REALLY watch this movie and educate yourselves, you can watch it instantly at netflix if you have a sub. I mean just put the same restrictions on it as alcohol.

Legalize weed, cannibis, and hemp?

yes
no

Yeah, definitely. I don't drink, and I don't do drugs. I don't even drink coffee due to the caffeïne. I'm fully convinced however, that it'd make much more sense to decriminalize weed. I'm libertarian, but I'd sooner forbid alcohol than weed.

As far as I know, there's nothing illegal about hemp.  You can buy hemp seed, oil, flour,  beauty products, creams and lotions, clothing, etc, all sorts of products.  You can get hemp products, including soaps, lotions and protein from your local GNC.  The only reason you can't grow it in most states in the US is because of politics -  oh, and there's the stupidity and ignorance, too.

That video is made by hippies for hippies.

I'd like to see marijuana legalized (and tobacco outlawed for that matter), as much as anyone. But if you really want it done, start sending petitions. Real ones, not online ones. With actual human signatures. Polticians listen to one thing, and that's VOTES. If you get a 10,000 signature petition and send it to your state senator, they'll have no choice but to seriously consider it.

If they don't? THAT is when you turn to the internet to tell on them. Write in a letter to the editor, or a guest opinion stating how dissatisfied you are with their decision. Elect someone who will actually get the job done.

Do research! Find the people you need to be campaigning against. Who has shot down legalization efforts in the past? Get some names going.

Threads and videos like these amount to nothing more than whining. If you show this to your congressman, they'll ignore it entirely. But if you show it to them with a 10,000+ signature locally distributed petition? They'll listen. They may not agree, but they'll definitely listen.

if it was even relatively easy as you think it is, it would be legal by now. I'm just getting other people's opinions on the subject .... because that is what forums are for, sharing opinions and knowledge. Thanks for playing welcome to the interweb forums.

My opinion is that the video was a waste of time and effort. And at what point did I say any of that was easy? Of course it's not easy. It's SIMPLE, but that's a very different word.

really? When alot of the world still thinks marijuana causes loss of brain cells, lung cancer, addiction etc someone who makes a documentary showing articles, and facts is a waste of time? Who else is supposed to tell people about it, the government? lol....

@your edit: To legalize something that has been illegal since the 1930's .... that is very easy. It took massive amounts of violent crime and public outcry to reverse the alcohol prohibition ..... A couple petitions and phone calls is very easy compared to it.

Times have changed since the roaring 20s. We have that newfangled telyvision and the interwebs now. Public outcry is a lot easier now, we don't have to couple violent crime with it.

im just curious, but if it does nothing bad to you then how come a lot of the pot smokers i see, their faces look all saggy kinda like they have downs syndrome or something and they can barely talk without slurring everything?

Edit:

I'm all for Hemp usage for building materials etc. just actual weed i dunno.

As opposed to the drunk sitting outside a bar with vomit all over themselves, or a drunk car accident victim with a stirring wheel embedded in their torso after slamming into another car head on killing the occupants.

As for looking stoned after smoking marijuana, yeah...everyone looks that way after smoking it...it relaxes you.

I'm against people abusing alcohol, although i'm not sure what talking about alcohol has to do with legalizing weed.  Alcohol is definately worse then Weed, seen it first hand..anyways.

Not sure i see the need for either, seeing as how i don't do either.  But like i said i'm all for Hemp use, can make so many things from it, just it still has a lil bit of THC so the gov freaks out over it.

Edit: anyone else notice (at least all of the stoners i know and ones i have seen) they seem to have this big hop (maybe not hop, but they like push up real high onto their toes with each step)  in their walking pattern lol...sorry it's always made me wonder lol

Marijuana does have some adverse effects, granted its nothing compared to tobacco and alcohol. The actual harm inflicted by susbstance abuse is however unrelated to wether drugs should be made legal. Its nothing but a smoke screen used by conservatives to enforce their morality standards upon others. Drugs are a health issue, not a criminal one. The damage and destruction caused by the war on drugs far outweights any ill effects the massive wave of drug adiction some hysterical alarmists would imagine to follow legalization would have.

The real issue at stake here is freedom. It has long been proven education and prevention to be far more effective in fighting abuse than police enforcement.

Just to make things clear...
I speak for myself and no one else, unless i state otherwise mine is just an opinion. A fact is something that can be independently verified, you may challenge such but with proof. You have every right to disagree with me through sound argument, i believe in constructive debate, but baseless aggression will warrant an unkind response.

I Dident vote because there wernt enough options :P

But im 100% for Legal Hemp. Its not Pot. It dosent work the same way and were limiting our selfs from a great product that can make Clothes, and paper ect.

Nope, i know some like to say well Alcohol is worse then weed ever could be so why can't weed be legal!   You can make your case for making weed legal without talking about other harmful substances, in my mind comparing them means nothing, either show me this stuff is safe or don't bother, pointing out other things is just trying to distract from the topic.

you want to argue alcohol should be illegal then make a topic for it, i honestly have never seen anyone comparing why Alcohol should be removed and using weed or any other drugs as a reference.

I didn't vote either because i believe in the use of Hemp, since its a good product for making so many things as i've said many times already, i don't group Hemp with regular Weed.
