I came back recently after being absent since launch and I can say clearly that yes the game has improved a lot, there are a bunch of new additions and a lot has been fixed (in particular performance) so if you liked the idea of what you saw at launch but maybe were a little critical of the implementation then i would say it is well worth coming back and checking out. |

I felt AOC was a fun game for all intents and purposes, though I never stuck around to reach "end game". Even then all I would do is PVP anyway, so I don't feel I am missing much. I just want a good list of what doesn't work. I didn't notice much not working when I played last (during the vet trial) I was at lvl 45. I'm aware that the content gaps have been filled and raids have been improved. What is it that the game still lacks aside from sieging being fixed? As for hundreds of features missing, I have to wonder whether you know the difference between plans and promises. Even with the latter things sometimes have to change because they simply don't work. Was this the first game you followed closely during development? I've been following releases since before SWG hit shelves. It's the same thing for every game since then none have released with all that they planned or promised to be there. What exactly is it that you see different here outside of what everyone HAS to do during the different stages of a games development? I am confused the first mention in that article of 76,000. is a quote from Morrison saying "Behind the scenes there were 76,000 TASKS that have been done since the game launched ". Than the interviewer refers to the 76,000 as CHANGES, only than is Morrison quoted as using that word. 76,000 Changes! is great as an attention getting headline, but looking past that its rather telling of how incomplete the launch was and how many issued needed to be address over the last year. Bragging a number so large it is almost abstract, instead of a specific list of improvements related directly to players discontinuing their subscriptions is just more hype, and I don't blame Morrison for it, seems like the author was trying to make the subject and content of the interview more exciting instead of remaining objective. The article is not even remotely journalism, it is some kind of hype/sales/marketing fluff. The author doesn't ask questions but makes statements, ones that aren't supported by fact and speak in a future-tense, ie. "After you've done all that work to curb the loss of players, the X-pac is a bit of a rebirth."You can't say that about a product that isn't finished, hasn't been released and it's impact on the game/subscriptions isn't tallied. Only way I can think to describe that article ... Infomercial. No surprise I had never heard of the ZTGameDomain before clicking the link. |

Welcome to the game Age of Conan 18 months after launch. Oh yes its full, its complete, its polished and the playerbase is growing like a cock in a strip club. NOT. No offense mate but you just described the problems with most MMOs as a whole, especially when you brought up AI. I do agree mini games are pretty much worthless as is and always have been even when the pop was healthy the wait time was to long. The NPC guards are pretty much all inside towns I do not remember seeing many in the wilds. I never had a problem with them on a PVP server how are pve players having such problems? Outside of dx10 (which worked for me the last time I played) and sieges or walls. The rest of your list are what I see as personal wants and desires, not something they screwed up on. Character transfers on SOE games for example are $50 which is pretty normal (even ole SWG), as is restricting xfers to high pop servers. You did not answer my question or acknowledge it so I guess it is safe to assume this was the first game you watched closely, once you watch a few more you will see most of what pisses you off is quite normal in the genre. I am not arguing at all that AOC is a success that would be idiotic, however it seems you are just simply mad you did not enjoy the game. As well as mad you wasted $50. Thats understandable, I just do not see it warranting as much as you put into it.

If there was any game on the market right now that I would even remotely think about going to give another shot at it would be this game. However I am enjoying Aion to the point I think Im addicted again to an MMO havent felt that way since EQ1 maybe. But Age of Conan had a fun pass. One of my friends didnt like it that much due to the low fantasy, which is the reason we left it the first time around. But he isnt really doing much gaming currently these days due to RL and a bad economy.. which has effected his work. That being said. Age of Conan seemed like a fun game with some issues that needed to be addressed. Like I said before if i decide to leave Aion which in all honesty I dont see myself doing anytime in the near future. I might head back to AoC.

Nah I the game isn't good, I resent the fact it was advertised as a good game with stuff it doesn't have....I now resent the fact that the very few people whom still play, a number that always goes down, whom post on the forums advertise the game like it is the second comming and everything is fixed.......the game has serious issues and most people do not and will not like this title. Blame Funcom, not me, they abandoned AoC a long time ago...so since you liek them so much, just follow them. There was so little changed since release when I logged in for the win back I am still laughing. Funcom, AoC, and the Fans: |

Nah, he's just hatin' AoC is doing better by the day. Best mmorpg out atm, at least according to this AoC-player :)
Definitely worth coming back to.

Originally posted by finaticd Hasnt been abandoned, you just abandoned it. Considering they are making adjustments to it, have added tonnes of new content, and are building an expansion to it then to say Funcom has abandoned it is absolutely crazy. This only proves you really have not tried it since release. |

A common train of thinking in this thread is that the problem in AoC is that the population is low. However, this is very hypocritical as they are the solution to such a problem. The truth is that people do not realise that if they all joined now then in 2 months when everyone is 80 then there will be the population... because they all joined. IF you join now then you will get the free month to start which would give you time to level up part way (or all way if you are a fanatic player) at which point you can stop until the population is higher. Not only that but you will have a character ready for the expansion next year the will be ahead of any people that join then. People who argue they don't join now and are waiting just seem to be saying "This game is great, but I don't want to be in the firing line of all the AoC flamers." |

I just left after a short stint The game is good but doesn't have much replay value not a long term game

If you're a casual player (in relative terms) this could be what you want. Esepecially if you like pvp.
