LOL. You're just a step from calling me a fanboy, when I haven't even played the game and was making a comment about MMOs in general, not this game in particular.

I don't doubt that these are real issues, and certainly wouldn't assume ANY of them will definitely get fixed.

The point remains that 45 minutes is very skimpy testing for something you paid real money for. I give free trials more time than that.

Took me two and a half days just to download it. My compy is a laptop. Plays great.

To the OP you were having driver issues. Now you're having no game to play issues. Hell it took me longer than 45 minutes to quit the WoW trial. Hated it. Good luck finding something to grab your attention in less than an hour.

Seriously - 45 minutes is a joke. Uninstalling an MMO you paid money for without giving it a few tries first is ridiculous.

You must have money to burn.

It's not easy or enjoyable to play a game that isn't working properly from the start. Why force yourself?

I was in FE's alpha and beta and decided to skip the release versio since they couldn't hammer out these graphical issues OP is having. I encountered this problem too, when sometimes some graphics didn't load properly (Sometimes I had buildings and characters with a mix of high and low textures which really looked awkward.) - or didn't load at all (like invisible stuff, barrels, doors, walls, missing heads etc.)

Invisible horses, check, had also a problem in Embry where the sky sometimes suddenly turned into bright purplish blue. I knew that the client is about to crash in 1 minute. Even bugging these issues for 1,5 years didn't solve the problem, so don't get hostile protecting you favorite game, it's good but not perfect. People DO have some issues with it and the problems do exist.

Don't get me wrong, I really did like FE but it really wasn't in the state where I could enjoy the game without having to face these small annoyances.

Piivot, I know you are nerd enough to have tested the game with latests graphics drivers etc. so I'm not even going to give you any technical or hardware tips. The game seems to favor some systems more than others. Just put the game back into shelf and get back to it every now and then. I'm sure they'll get the graphics stuff fixed eventually. It's a good game after all, it deserves another try. :)

Excuse my french, but this is pure BS. Try the game at this stage, and THEN write about it. None of the issues you listed happened to me in the last 3 weeks.

And yeah, I was in the beta, and in the alpha as well.

Turn off SLI, its antiquated and causes nothing but issues. Also, your CPU, FE WILL use all the cores you toss at it. Unless your machine is jacked up, by, say, bad overclocking.

When i read the post of the OP and other guys who complain that they cant play the game because grafical problems..hmmm looks like we dont play the same game??

Yes i have some ctd, here and there lag in citys, and some glitches, its all so rare that realy have no impact on the allaround great atmosphere in game and my gameplay. I easy can ignore this, nowing it will be worked out.

Purple skys?, invisible walls?,invisible horses? unmature community???????ect ect ect...i realy must play a differend game, but hey when i start the game there clearly stands FALLEN EARTH

If  the OP or any other who complains about "gamebreaking" problems have REAL INTERESS to play the game, they will solve the problems by visiting tech forums, or other sources, because when i and most of the guys can play it then its a user pc prob(hardware software drivers..)  but when someone uninstall a game after 45 min i do not believe he seriously whants to get in the game, maybe there was not enough bright colors, sexy elves or whatever FE lacks?=...yea thats a seriuos prob...the game dont give u warm welcome in 45 min.....hehe u have to welcome the game, by  learning it!

It's cool,I get it, I understand the symptoms and it's all good, until you come to my favorite game`s forum and start to spread pure lies.

There are some bad and negative things about FE just like there are many problems with every new MMO outhere until it gets stabilized and optimized but invisible walls is not one of them sorry.

Actualy the non-presents of the invisible walls is a big pro for this game.

It's an huge open seamless realistic world with no restrictive invisible walls you see in other games, even on the highest mountains.

Of course you cant climb the steepest hills and rocks but so much of the map is free to explore it's crazy.

Only place I've seen invisible walls so far is around very small pool of water in sector 1  and that's understandable because there are no swim mechanics in this game and obv devs dont want you to go into water.

No big deal and this is only few pixels out of huge map.

So just go back to WOW really, it's obvious you cant let go of it and it' s ok, most of us prolly dont want you in FE anyway, you sound like a whiny and negative type of gamer.

Funny how I don't know you, you don't know me, and yet you've decided to belittle and flame me.

I never mentioned your name.

I was speaking about things of the game I recently tried.  I never said I DIDN"T like WoW.  After all, a FORUM is for DISCUSSING isn't it?  I was merely stating what I saw and why I uninstalled the game.  Whining is complaining about the color of armor or some other paltry tidbit.

I do like WoW.  That doesnt' give you the right for a flaming attack, does it? I just dislike the immature player base.  They belittle you and flame you at ever turn.  Not even knowing you.  (See a pattern?)

Please stop with the personal attacks, and discuss the topic.

I don't know what's more hilarious here -  the fact that you played an mmo for 45 minutes and uninstalled because of a few minor technical problems that could have probably been easily solved, or the irony involved in your comment about people "belittling" you, when you yourself seem to be one of the most ill-tempered people in the thread.

In contrast to your complaints, the only technical problems I've experienced in the game so far was some rubber-banding, but a quick restart and the game was running flawlessly. Aside from that, I haven't even heard any mention of the other problems you're experiencing so it's more than likely something to do with your machine, whether you want to believe it or not. Honestly though, if a few minor graphic glitches is enough to cause you to quit a game then I'm not sure how you've ever managed to  play an mmo for over an hour, period.

Also, as far as the community goes, I honestly think you're just making things up. I've been playing for a good while now and I have barely noticed any (and I use that word strongly) immaturity in the community. In fact, I always have the help chat window open and I witness first hand all of the questions (many of which are repeats) being answered by helpful people. I'd go as far as to say that FE has one of the best communities I've seen in an mmo in years. Of course, then again, if you only play a game for 45 minutes, I can imagine that getting into the community could be a bit difficult...

One thing is still puzzling me here though: you said that you quit the game because it "wasn't right for you" but you didn't give any details? What exactly was it that you didn't like? Surely you were aware of the theme before you bought the game, and seeing as how the game is becoming a cult favorite to many (for good reason), I've got to wonder what reasons you have for quitting the game, if not just for the few  technical issues you mentioned. Care to clarify?

I was going to say that you didn't give this game enough time, but the problems you're having can be apparent immediately, so I understand. I didn't like the game for other reasons and stopped playing a week after release. Good luck on your search for "that" game.

Regarding all these replies about, you're lieing! The graphics are fine!.....

Unless everyone is using the same exact hardware, same video card, by the same manufacturer, on the same OS, on the same DirectX updated release with the same drivers.... you have no idea how the game will look on someone elses system. The fact of the matter is that the G94 based cards do tend to have issues across several manufacturers and range from flickering textures - to objects that are not rendered.

Certain things are unabled to be overlooked. For example, my 9600GT was flickering any time I was near an object in the game. It was so bad that it was giving me a headache. As in my previous reply, when I switched to the 7800gt with the same setup, the game started to work fine.

This is a small company. They don't have the resources to purchase every conceivable card by every conceivable manufacturer and once you get into programming with a Shader model, the concept of being in a chipset or manufacturer independant run-time (Direct X) goes out the window. So, this one of those things that will need to be worked on over time. However, several people whom already paid for the game and are unable to play due to the issues (luckily, I have another card that works fine) - have every right to vent about the issues on this forum. There is no reason to call them liars or make claims that they are trolls.

Now granted, Piivot was a little touchy regarding some of the posts that it may be your PC - but, let's try to keep the "bigger dick theory" as George Carlin would put it, out this forum. So far, this forum has been pretty tame and informative. I hope it stays that way, because the rest of the forums have devolved into something simular to an elementary school where all the teachers walked out of the class rooms.

Ichman, you're way off base concerning rubber-banding and invisible walls. Those are server related, not client related. Invisible walls are generally corrected by relogging.

As far as the OP's issues go, it depends. You went straight to Embry without spending time in your 'home'  town.  That would be like a lvl 1 being in Ogrimmar in WoW. It's suspicious and generally means someone is begging, so people tend to ignore them. And 1 hour of play is hardly a good indication of what the game is like. For one, the dedicated player base is already beyond Embry and  probably up by Oilville and beyond. The ones around Embry and the starter towns are generally the people who started late and are in a hurry to play catchup.

It's up to you  to try again and find someone. Your best bet is to use region, if you are looking for some sort of interaction. Grouping will generally be few and  far between in S1 as the game simply doesn't encourage it except at certain points, Kingman and Needle Eye, being the only two that I remember. Maybe Junk Fortress.

Maybe the server was about to crash or something.  Something similar happened to me right before a server shut down.

That is a pretty bold statement... I agree that the OP is more than likely having issues on their end due to RAM or driver problems, but to act like everything is peachy just because your system is running it fine is stupid. I cant count the amount of games that have problems due to certain hardware configurations. Hell, even World of Warcraft... Several times in my last few years, they have added a patch that makes it completely impossible for me to play. Latency so crazy bad, that names would not show up (Unkowns everywhere) and chat would not work. Do you know what the problem was? Audigy sound cards, made by Creative Labs. Ever heard of a game called Mini Ninja? If you have any HID drivers other than the basic ones it hitches every couple seconds. You actually need to disable the drivers for your HID device (Cyborg Command Unit, Saitek Eclipse Keyboard AND my Cyborg Mouse...) in order for the game to play smoothly. Fallout 3? Yep, crashes due to onboard soundcard.

Not to mention the problems that many games have with ATi cards...

To the OP,

I'm running two GTX 280's in SLI and was having some graphical issues related to textures after install as well.  Updating to the latest drivers completely fixed this for me though and I've noticed no issues at all since while going through the same areas as you (went to South Burb right out of the tutorial).  After sporadically playing during the closed beta, feeling very uninspired, and then dropping it completely for the last few months, I'm actually extremely impressed with the game since launch.

As with any MMO, I think the onus is probably on you to keep trying to make ripples in the pond by throwing more stones.  Yes, people are hurrying about and trying to level up like they do in every game.  I've still had no problem getting people to respond to me in Local and even help out with tasks that I wasn't sure I could tackle on my own.

If the setting and atmosphere doesn't work for you, then it just doesn't and that's cool. It's definitely a change of pace from swords and sorcery. I am excited about what seems like the closest thing to a Fallout MMO we're going to see anytime soon, so I'm sticking with it for sure.

Bought the game this week and currently I'm sensing all kinds of weird behaviour:

  • Missing textures
  • Rubberbanding
  • Players and enemies hitching across the screen (like in Vanguard)
  • Randomly very slow performance
  • Very slow menus and mouse movement
  • Enemy AI?
  • Even on highest settings there is loads of pop-up in the environment

The engine seems totally not optimized (yet). Wanting to like this but I just can't with all the above.

This is 100% your system, sorry. The lag in mouse movement alone screams of serious bogging down of your system. I am not sure what you are running, but you might want to kick the settings down a bit. And yes, the higher up you set the settings, the longer it is going to take to load things in when your system is already hamstrung.

I do agree that the engine needs more optimizing though. But then again... No engine is perfect, so I guess every engine out there needs more optimizing.

Hmz, my system is very clean I would say. No weird stuff running in the background. And I have a pretty killer setup here (Intel i7 920, 3GB DDR3 RAM, ATI 4850 video card, and one of the fastest HD's on the market). All with latest drivers and all. Defragmented my HDD today too, and also defragmented Fallen Earth itself via the ingame option.

Aion on the otherhand runs like a charm. Maybe Fallen Earth just doesn't like my system? :)

It is possible. With your setup, you should be doing quite well. However, if you are playing on Vista, I would be willing to bet that the 3gigs of ram is hurting you. My wife had her sticks of RAM burn out a few weeks ago, and had to play WoW with only 2 gigs of RAM on Vista 64, and she could not even move in Dalarn because it was so bad. And WoW doesn't take that much to run. Vista eats a lot of RAM, and so does Fallen Earth. Also, is that 3x 1 gig sticks in tripple channel, or what? Other than that... Hard to say. With the RAM, just a few background programs can kill it for you. Hell, I have nothing open other than Firefox right now, and my system is using 2.46GB of RAM... And it is doing nothing, lol. Almost 400 megs just in svhost, 150mb for firefox, 250mb for explorer... Not to mention all the other nice little nic nacks it uses that add up. You might want to Ctrl Alt Del and check your performance tab, and see what is going on.

I understand the sentiment as I found myself with a desire once to play with a more mature community while I played wow but I would have to say that having this happen to you on only one night is a bit premature to decide that this will make you not like the game.  I've played lot's of games with very mature audiences and found unresponsive and worse people in the newbie zones only to think "though I'm just running through with an alt I'd hate to be the person who is having their first experience in an mmo dealing with this" because we all know it happens in all games especially one so near release.

Yes, 3x 1GB tripple channel, but not on Windows Vista, but XP. To be precise, my system specs are as follows:

  • Intel Core i7 920
  • Corsair TR3X3G1600C8D
  • Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD7500AAKS
  • Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4850
  • ASUS Xonar D2
  • Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP3 (patched to date)
  • Asus P6T Deluxe

I really like Fallen Earth for being different and all, but I have to sort these weird problems out before I continue my travels. No hard feelings towards the game itself. It's actually something fresh instead of all the usual high-fantasy stuff.

I just listed the odd things I found in the game.  Not a personal attack on you.  I tried min graphic setting to make sure that wasn't the issue.  Please try to be grown up about things.

Thanks.

The game makes fairly good use of multithreading technology, atleast for an MMO.  You gain more benefit from the extra cores than you seem to realize, especially if your running multiple processes in the background

Not that your processor had anything to do with the problems you mentioned.  That was most likely a problem w/ Nvidea  graphic drivers.  Those sort of things are to be expected in a new MMO... and instead of coming on the MMORPG boards and ranting about it after "45 minutes" you should have actually tried to see if there was a fix for it.  And for future reference, just because you exceed the recommended hardware spec doesn't mean you aren't going to have hardware related problems... thats just not how it works.

The lag thing should be expected from a new game.  Especially a single server world where 90% of the total population is still in the newbie zones.  Once that population gets higher level and spreads out, the latency will get better.  Honestly I haven't personally had any problems, and its better than I expected it to be.

As for the local chat thing.... who cares?  People use regional and are very quick to help.  Most people don't  even notice local chat, its not that they are being anti-social.  If you want idle chat then join a guild.

You made absolutely zero effort to enjoy the game.  You wanted everything to be sterling silver right out of the box.  You need to reevaluate the genre before you post these little reviews.

*by the way, do yourself a favor and don't list your hard drive specs when trying to justify that a game should run smooth on your system.  It makes you look ignorant.

i wouldn't use the local chat. the problem is that the local channel is the same color text as the npc chat and is kinda hard to  notice most ignore it just the fact they've looked at it so much thinking some one was talking and turned out to be an NPC.

and i've read there is problems with the nvidia cards having troubles, i have one but not having any problems at all. single card tho, also read the sli is causing trouble as well.

and sorry you saying you "uninstalled in less than 45 min" and naming off problems you had, sounds to me like you ragequit. ecspecially since you felt the need to come here to post about it. and the fact you uninstalled it after playing it for less time than you spent INstalling, shows you didn't come here lookin for ways to fix anything.

i've played for like 2 days now and i'm only level 6..lol so some reason this game turned me into a scavanging/crafting whore! i never liked gathering or crafting in any other game but this game for some reason i just like doing it.made my own pistols/ammo, makeshift spear, crossbow/bolts, clothes, gunpowders dyes like everything i'm using. i went out scavanged everything i saw and made something with it, hell i bet most of my levels i got just from crafting/gathering. i haven't sold anything i gathered or crafted i used it all on myself and gave some things to clan members that needed a few things and they hooked me up with some things like i was short on steel scrap to make my pistol. the fact that this is an indie game and you can tell its going to be different than what is out there, i didn't buy it (yet) i got a buddy invite from here and trying it.
