It's a total snoozefest. I've had more fun watching paint dry.

Hmm. Since this thread appears to be for the purposes of randomly stating ones own preferences, I would just like to announce to the community that I am quite partial to Chop brown sauce. I don't know what's in it, I don't really care. All I know is that it's awesome. Huh, strangely cathartic. Edit: I like brie too. Edit2: I'm sorry, I lied about the brie. I just wasn't sure how to spell roquefort. I looked it up. |

If you get rid of that person behind you forcing you to solo then you will not be bored anymore. |

Actually it depends on the MMO. I agree that all the koreans f2p grinders are absolutely boring to solo but if you consider a MMO with a well developped lore and correct quest it is possible to enjoy soloing. For instance I am totally fond of the lore of Warcraft and I had a great time soloing my way from 1 to 80 |

Originally posted by Luneth7 I feel exactly the same way about cheese! Sometimes, I see people enjoying edam and I just think .. what the hell are you DOING? .. you're eating edam when you could be eating roquefort. Is there something wrong with you? .. should I feel sorry for whatever medical condition so inflicts you as to make you prefer edam over the heavenly roquefort? I try to persuade them that edam is lame, and that roquefort is much more enjoyable. I try to make them realise that by eating edam, they are adversely affecting my enjoyment of roquefort. They're just so unreasonable. :( |

I get things done faster soloing than having to group with random retards. If you don't like soloing find a guild. |

To each their own. Personally I like soloing and grouping in the games I like. |

I disagree with the OP. I think watching paint dry is very exciting compared to soloing in an MMORPG. It's hard for me to understand the entertainment value of soloing an MMORPG. I find soloing to be at best something to do between grouping, nothing more. Even then I'll usually just chat or wander around exploring rather than grind quests or mobs solo. I realize I may be in an extreme minority, but for a player like me there is no such thing as "forced grouping" in an MMORPG. That is really the only reason I'm playing, to group. It's fun to make progress, but if I'm playing solo the progress is pointless. |

Fortunately there is a fantastic solution for you: Don't Solo. |

Ah, another solo vs grouping thread. Almost made it through the week without seeing one here. |

Yes, yet another thread where someone states their personal preferences as if they represent the majority of players. Oh wait, they don't! Played: UO, EQ, WoW, DDO, SWG, AO, CoH, EvE, TR |

I personally prefer grouping over soloing. I have the occasionaly moments where I just want to be alone and solo a little but for the most part I'm always up for group play and player action. |

Originally posted by Ilvaldyr LOL at the legend they talk about on wikipedia, blue cheese is hella good. Yeah its all opinion, I do like to have some alone time in game here and there but if its pretty much a solofest to max I don't last to long in that kind of game. I think one of the reasons why I also get bored of games so quick is I only know 1 person IRL that plays MMO's most of my friends all quit or play WoW which I can't stand to play. But when I started playing FFXI there were at least 10 people I knew IRL that played the game so maybe thats another reason why i liked the game so much besides it was a grouping game.

There I was... deep in the mines below the village called Coppermine in the vast Grand Canyon desert. I spot a mutant bug at the end of the tunnel, it didn't notice me yet. I focus my attention, peek through the scope of my trusty self-build rifle, aim carefully and shoot. The heavy rifle bullet (self crafted as well of course) punches through the thick chitinious exoskeleton of the bug. Heavily wounded it turns around and rushes into my direction, I try again to aim well for the second hopefully lethal shot, but in that moment some rock is blocking the view. Then the bug comes in sight again, having travelled already half the distance as my gloved finger pulls the cold trigger again, and... again I hit it. Greenish blue ichor oozes out of the wounds the bullets have ripped open, the bug squeaks and then dies.
Boring? Nope. It depends on my mood. Sometimes I like to fight my way alone through a game, and then of course I also like grouping. Simply mood dependant. As a sidenote, I had three bullets left when I finally met up with the village security and was in safety again. :) |

Although I agree it can be boring soloing in a massively multiplayer game, it is nice to have the option to solo when you cant find a group or you just dont have time to dedicate to group content. Options are awesome! Murashu ~ Shuey |

wow...another anti solo thread...
Can you groupers just get over it....there needs to be both in an MMO to be good AND successful....period "This may hurt a little, but it's something you'll get used to. Relax....." |

Originally posted by Cephus404 I missed the part where he said he represented a majority of players. Oh wait, that's because he didn't say that. Btw I agree with him. If you become obsessed with something you're chasing, there's a good chance you'll forget why you're chasing it. |

I guess I just don't understand why anyone who wants to primarily solo through the game even wants to play an MMORPG over just about any other PC or console title. By their very nature, MMORPGs are very repetitive titles, and just about the only thing that keeps MMORPGs entertaining is the interaction within the community. Don't believe me, play any MMORPG on a dead private server for awhile, and tell me how much fun you have. Take the player interaction out of the MMORPG and the entire game just feels dead, because there simply isn't enough NPC interaction or events to keep a single player overly interested in the game world. Even for those who have very limited playtimes and can only play for short bursts at 12 AM every morning, I ask why even waste the cash for the subscription. Granted, do as you will, but it just seems like a waste to me. You'll never be able to experience the game as it is meant to be experienced, and again, why play an MMO over a single player RPG or whatnot which appears just as you left it when you logged off? |
