"And yes STO will be another of the many that releases way too early. Because that is the industry standard as of right now. Just have to hope that the basic game we will get will be enough to keep people happy till the real game gets done:)"
I'm thinking theres a couple of reasons for this: 1. We don't want to grind so developers make the leveling easy. This means everyone gets to the end game quickly and usually finds nothing to do, boring them to quit. 2. People expect the game to have the polish and content of WoW as it is today. Unfortunately that just isn't going to happen. Because of those two reasons, I feel the developers must have enough high end content in the original release to hold the players over until the first expansion. As for reason #2, I feel they must not promise more than they can deliver at release and be relatively bug free. I think it's real important to honest up front, such as Cryptic was about no ship interiors at release and no forced grouping (player controlled bridge crews). Imagine the uproar at release if those were promised but not delivered! |

Start small and polished, and expand on that. Warhammer should have started with one racial pairing, complete and WORKING. |

If the NPC's handle the stations when there is no players available (or just soloing), its real hard to see how they could put fun into that for individual bridge members. But putting that aside at least they told you up front thats not part of the game so they didn't string you along with a nasty surprise at release. Too many games try and please everyone, promising the moon, only to disappoint at release. |
