When you have hydrospanner everything needs to be torqued.

As a newbie to the online gaming world I wonder if I should just let my computer download the lattest MMO, or if I instead should go out and buy the same game from my favorite game store?

On the one hand I find that the box art and game overview tends to attract me to certain types of games, and the knowledge that if I upgrade systems or have computer problems I don't need to search around for redownloads to continue were I left off.

The other hand likes the download option because it saves me space in storing said discs, and the game is exactly the same regardless.  The extras you sometimes get is a nice bonus as well, and makes it a very tempting option.

Unfortunately for someone like me who really only just started in the world of gaming the choices con be hard, "Do I go out and buy the box, or do I just sit in front of my computer and download the newest game?", and hope it doesn't crash on me in the process.

Today is the first say of the rest of your life.

I prefer downloading, mostly because then I don't have to bother with CDs and it saves me a trip to the store, but a hard copy would shorten the install time.

It's mostly personal preference. Whichever you like more.

I like discs and cases for games that I can re-sell on eBay but for MMOs, which you're stuck with, I prefer downloading.

With MMOs I always download the only thing the box is good for is the serial. Once you have used that its pretty much useless. MMOs update an awful lot too so discs will quickly become out of date.

Any other type of game I will purchase a disc for so I can lend to friends/trade/sell.

MMORPG Character Monuments

...When its time for your character to take a well deserved rest...

I think that DL will become more and more pervasive and boxes will soon be the exception. MMO companies will cut out the distribution middleman and pass the savings back to themselves. I say , get used to downloading games now.
