High ratings aren't just an example of mmorpg.com fanboy write ups. A lot of review sites have been doing this for a while outside of mmos as well. It's been talked about on various forums, internet radio shows for gaming as to whether or not review sites even have any credibility anymore. I certainly do not make decisions to buy games off of reviews from some jobber that makes a little cash to fluff up a game or trash it. I do not respect any review of an mmo unless the write up is from someone that hit level cap. I really don't care if I think it's the greatest game in the world and the reviewer raved about it. That's just how I feel on it and have always felt on it. Especially in a game like Aion where every 10 levels all the way to 50 changes the course and pace of the game. |

Pretty sure it's just the prime discussion of the Aion sub forums on the mmorpg.com site. Haha. Because nowhere else do I see Aion being heavily discussed that I visit, except for Aion fan sites and other Aion sub forums. No hate on Aion though it's a good game. |

It cracks me up that people get all worked up because Aion got a good review here....Are your lives that boring that you take video games so seriously? I mean come on folks, its the best pvp MMO out there right now imo . And no I'm not a fanboi, I'm just realistic. When will you all grow up? When you retire? LOL

I am directing this to all the negative for no good reason repliers. Ignorance is what makes people have closed minds. Why do u give a freaking fudge about the score he game so bad. Is it because it can lead to other people playing a game that u didnt like? Or is it that it pains u to know that your opinion is not held by others who have an affect on another gamer? If u have such a problem then why u become a writer and spew your hate yourself and stop trying to hurt another persons career as a writer with your allegations of him receiving money or being biased. U have no idea about his or her bank account or what's in his mind. He may truly think it deserves a 8.7. Who are u to tell us his his opinion is wrong? I disagree with the OP saying that the other games have to catch up but thats only because the success over time of some of the titles not because my opinion of the games or fun factor. I could have easily taken the caveman route and said Aion is bad and W.O.W is good or vice versa. Basically what i'm saying is monday morning quarterbacks dont receive sign on bonuses. They just open there mouths and talk about shoulda coulda and woulda's while the real quarterback's play the game and put their careers on the line. So which do u think u are? |

To say this reviewer did an inside job, it not only disrespectful but its flat out wrong with no facts to base your claims on, other then you don't agree with his opinion. I like the game, have a 30 Cleric and I enjoy not rushing to the end and I like the grind I don't need to be max level and eat up all the content in a month cause I have ADD lol.......The gameplay is great, the animation is smooth the art is breath taking at times and most of all its FUN!!! 8.7 is imo too high, I would say around 8.4 to 8.6 if they can fix the rubber banding and some lag issues with large scale raids and add more PvE content(quests and such). |

In the five minutes of reading this thread you manage to troll the last 2 pages efficiently congrats.
This game to me is a breath of fresh air. I havn't been able to casually play a game like this since WoW. I personally like the atmosphere better then WoW and the pvp is top notch. To me this game strives for something different but on the same platform. Its like comparing one FPS to another. These are all MMORPGS but Aion is a different breed. It cannot be compared to WoW. Ya dig?

Not sure if I am able, but pulling the thread more on topic. I mentioned this in another thread already. I do not like using numbers in my reviews. Scales are always arbitrary yet give the impression that there is some underlying objective/numerical basis for the scores. The best reviews in my mind (and I try to emulate) are those that dont rate a game's feature but explains the system and then discusses why it works or why it doesnt. |

Hmm maybe if you wasn't mashing the f5 button crazily waiting for a reply. Hence troll. Personally it doesn't mater what the guy rated the game in his review. I rate it high as well. Higher then a lot of MMO's that have came out recently. Does that make me a liar or biased?

Metacritics.com lists 19 Aion reviews. 37% of those reviews give Aion higher score than mmorpg.com review, and 63% give lower score. More than 50% of those reviews are between 80% - 89%. If you don't like the reviews, it's easiest to pretend that they don't exists. Or if you feel like it, you can always argument on how reviewers generally give too high scores. But attacking mmorpg.com reviewer personally and calling him unprofessional because he's given Aion similar score as other reviewers have is just pathetic. If anything, the score is an indication that he has done good and professional job with his review. who cares the majority think the games good and that should be enough for people. If you like it awesome if you don't there are plenty of other games out there. |
