During the beta it was pretty laggy.

Has the performance improved?

Which kind of lag are you talking about? Because when you say performance, it makes me think that you are complaining about your FPS. Anyway, latency is still pretty bad for me, but I seem to be in that corner of Europe that is screwed, and I hear that plenty of people are playing with little latency. The FPS still leaves a bit to be desired considering the graphical quality, but it is very playable on any modern gaming rig.

There have been numerous updates since launch which have considerably increased performance for me. (playing from europe) There has been one especially nice update a few patches ago which limits lag in town a lot. Also if you follow the tips in the downloadable player guide and check this optimization guide (not sure if you can access it without an account): forums.fallenearth.com/fallenearth/showthread.php ,you will improve graphics and performance a lot.

I get the occasional lag spike but mostly it's pretty good.

As compared to before performance is better but servers have been in trouble lately as they crashed and roll backs where done for 3 days in a row. Oliville and other S1 main towns are less laggy though. I remember at release i used to get 2 fps in towns.

There is no performance issues,as i had the largest frame rates i have had in any game ever.Trust me if there is a problem in the game,i'll let you know lol.If anything the game is utter boring, but if it's the game you like, then i would not let performance worry you in the least.

Nope, it's not boring.

Opinions of a game are always subjective, I find end-game raiding and instanced PvP boring so I don't play those type of games anymore. I'm bored with elves and dwarves so I wont' be playing those games for a while. I'm enjoying FE because it's different, there's no race to end-game and I can relax and have fun while playing.

Thank you for the reply, Wizardry.

mbd1968, your post contributed nothing to the thread.

I wasn't in beta so I can't speak for how much it has improved from now till then, but I can tell you on my rig which is a few years old the game runs well.  I am playing medium to high textures, and the game does slow down in towns.  But when I am running quests, in dungeons, and out in the wild it's fine.  The only time I have really noticed lag was right before the servers were gonna crash.  But being an old SWG vet I saw what was happening and logged before the servers went down.

During the beta phase, I was having a pretty hard time with performance, because of both server lag and plain old FPS problems. Especially ranged combat was a nightmare. This was actually the main reason I did not outright buy the game at launch. But on reading some good things about performance improvements from beta to release, I did buy it, and I have few complaints now.

For me, the game indeed plays noticably better. Much less rubberbanding (it's really seldom now), and overall much better FPS. Actually, all my frame rate problems are in the crowded towns - in the outskirts or in towns on late or early hours it's all nice and steady. And the system I'm playing this game on isn't exactly new and powerful - and I'm keeping all the settings on Very High and forcing 4x Antialias and 8x Anisotropic Filtering via my video card driver.  Yeah, the frame rate can dwindle down to single digits in banks full of people and mounts on prime hours, but just Alt-tabbing to desktop and back seems to fix this for me every time (of course I still get somewhat poor frame rates in crowded banks, but at least it stops crawling).

I've been playing the release for just 2 weeks and I can honestly say that even during that time I've seen some improvement. I'm glad, because thanks to that I'm having a really good time in the game now. Though I imagine an upgrade to Core i7 and the latest set of graphics cards would make things even better... Hmmm :)

There is a vast improvement in performance over the beta and I do mean vast. During the open beta the game was virtually unplayable in Oilville and while it's not smooth as butter, I can run through a packed Oilville and do my business without any issue.

performance is better but STILL laggy in busy areas such as embry

I can increase fps by disabling shadows but why would shadow stress the engine so much?  Lotro uses dx10 shadows and I have no lag issues in lotro.

embry is lagtastic!

Seconded, 100%. Performance in towns, however, has decreased (obviously) on release. There are just too many people there.

Everywhere else is fine.

Performance for me has increased dramatically since beta.

In beta, I had massive issues with lag and falling through the world constantly, textures not loading properly, etc...
I've been playing the last 2 weeks with none of those issues at all.

I played in beta and the game now performs great. I live in Australia and usually expect some lag but the game has been performing extremely well. I do get the occasional rubberband effect but this is not that often. Framerate is up around 60 even in highly populated areas.

In all I am glad I came back to FE. It is the best MMO I have played in ALONG time.

If your starting as a green pea once again in Fallen Earth we all know Sector 1 quite well now.

Its best to avoid: Midway (Crafting Starter Town) and Embry during the weekends, however this is just my past experience.

Other than that, the game still has it rubber banding moments in certain area's, but the game has improved a lot since

the File Planets Open Beta and even better since CB.

If your still on the fence, try out for one of them Keys on October 23rd - Here is info the Link -  www.fallenearth.com/node/207

Am I enjoying the game?

You know what, I am enjoying myself and and heading into Sector 2 very soon. I have survived S1 and honestly, it isn't that bad as many claim it to be on this website.

the only thing I notice on my system was after i upgraded my HDD load stuff much faster and currently i can go on embry and have 40 fps before the HDD update was around 20 fps

also note that the game load all terrain and trees when you start that game imo there is the problem
