Yeah, some of us pointed out something similar when javac tried the same thing from the opposite point of view.

I wonder if it's coincidence that javac pretty much stopped posting shortly after making that post?

The people wanting the refund are people who dont read what they are buying.

Read before you buy Beta is a beta and not a play test hard thing for a mind to grasp huh.

This thread is funny, since it's claims run counter to my  in-game experiences.

How many MMORPG players use Xfire? When we know that we can start making sense of Xfire numbers.

Once we know that we need to know how many PVP MMORPG players use Xfire ... you see where I am going with this?

It could be that only 100 PVP MMORPG players use Xfire, which would indicate DF being healthy .... then again, millions could, which would support your thread.

The reality is Xfire really isn't a valid tool to quote a single number on, it can only show trends at best, and then  only trends among Xfire users.

Interestingly, not one responder to this thread uses Xfire ...

And before the OP accuses me of it, I don't play DF, I have never done so, nor would I, its just not my type of game. The only way to judge a games population is to play it ... the players here seem to think its ok.

Javac stopped posting after trolling the MO boards.

Okay here is your trend since you mentioned it.....

Back when the other thread was posted (August) there were 191 Xfire users for DnF

Today there are 75.

Yep shows the trend as you stated in your own words above.

Never played darkfall, but what is the point of this thread? To mock a small developer or something?? Sad.

Sad is the only way to describe this behaviour. I used to think it was pathetic but entertaining to see people get so worked up about it. But your choice of words is now much more appropriate.

Xfire fails at depicting accurate playing information for any game where ping matters. Xfire and DFO don't mix, I know I used it. I also used xfire to singel handedly move darkfall up by 156hrs in a single week by never turnig xfire or darkfall off. So yea, xfire = poo poo

Had twice that number at a siege the other day.  Does that count for anything?

If we continue in the same spirit here.

Lets say one of thousand player have a xfire account. So if 78 people show up on xfire......that could mean 78k plays DF! Thats not bad!

Xfire is a sample and nothing more. Its like a political poll. We already know  the pop in DF is low so this thread does little except entertain the OP.

Darkfall is a niche game just like Ryzom and FE these games have small populations from 5-50k players.

To point this out is just stating the obvious we already know DF is targetted toward a small group of players.

Why would I play a pathetic themepark MMO when I could enjoy a masterpiece like Mass Effect, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Dragon Age?

You don't need xfire to tell you that darkfall's population has decreased significantly.  Just look at their forums and irc chat. A few months ago there were dozens of new topics started in their sever politics forums daily. Now there's maybe 3 - 4 new topics on a good day. Their irc channel had hundreds of people chatting a few months ago, and thousands were chatting back at euro release. Now there are around 50 people there.

I think it's safe to say that a lot of people are gone. I'm guessing that the game might have about 2000 - 3000 active subscriptions. They probably have around 1000 players logged in during prime time on a week day.

I totally agree, it looks as though DF has lost over 50% of the Xfire users. But what percentage of the player base uses Xfire? If the general player base has dropped by the same percentage then it doesn't look great overall

Xfire makes my ping go up by 10 and drops my FPS by 20 (45ish-25ish). Xfire makes darkfall unplayable in PvP for me. I'm sure many others have the same "problem"

How dare you post evidence Sir !

Seriously, anyone with half a brain cell knows  people left this game in droves and it was not just 'carebears'. Sadly any evidence of these losses cannot be accepted by the four or five zealous fanbotsa that inhabit these boards. DF and AV are probably one of the worst releases of MMORPG history. The only sad thing in all of this is that AV has ceased the silly behaviour and nothing amusing is emerging. Minus everyone that was laughing on the sideline and you have *few* people giving a damn about this game.

When a company behaves like Av have... what else is to be expected?

My Clan has 40-50 active members and 4 of use X-Fire, mainly because during sieges and pvp xfire in game client can cause serious Frame problems. Stop judging the games popularity by an unknown statistic that probably displays 1/1000 of the userbase.
