I would LOVE a key-

Ths is an example of a company very proud of their product and now wanted some long term subs- I have been on the fence about just buying this (hearing great things though) and this will certainly settle it for me once and for all. =)

I am really impressed by the direction of this company thus far.

  I couldn't have said it better. The fallen earth team continually impresses me . For an indie company , they do so much right. A lot of the "big boys" could take notes...........

Myself, I'm not on the fence...I pay monthly for a different MMO and can't afford to pay for a second.

I played for a few weeks in beta and this game is as good as they say and better!

 K first of all I am a fanboi and everyone knows that. I love Icarus and I love love love FE. That said I think this is a bad idea. A ton of people are going to flood the server and it will be unplayable. Not maybe but will be unless there are few keys available. The server has been wonky as of late and they currently do not have it fixed from all indications. We are all early adopters who bought early and knew what to expect and its been better than expected actually.  But lets be a bit realistic and those of us who play know 3 things.......

!) Icarus has made a game to be damned proud of

2) Overall the launch has been solid

3) The strain will kill the hamsters and their whole families.

I think they are being a lil quick on the gun on this one is all I am saying. I hope I am wrong.

I hate to say it, but its breaking down to the almighty $$ there parrot.

This is a way to get a new players aboard once again and $$ into Icarus pockets to pay the bills and its associates.

We gotta remember this company is independent.

I wonder what their capital was when they started to create this game.

No clue I know they had some other products out there in the way of mobile games I think. My sub renews for a year on the 22nd. Might sit those 15 days out and I really want that shotgun. If I hear all is well then I will hop in. Been wanting to spend some quality time with Uncharted 2 and Brutal Legend anyways.

Dont get me wrong , I do support the idea of free trials etc but I'm feelin a little pissed about this ... so basically I have just forked out 35 Gbp to buy this game and set up a subscription and already they are gonna give a shit load of people 15 days free ? Wtf ? ... feel a little like I've been taken for a mug here, feel as though my purchase is funding free play for 1000's of people that will flood the servers and and make the game unplayable for exsisting subscribers, anyone else feelin pissed about this or am I out on limb here ???

They never specified the number of trial keys that were being distributed, not everyone who asks will get one. I'd imagine (big guess I don't know) its probably between 3-5 thousand, server can handle that without a problem.

I cant say I was surprised all the forum sites were full of folks begging for a trial of some kind.

Oh yea Parrot I'm def going for that shotgun...like the sawed off too but I already got one.

Although I would have liked to have tried it before I paid full price, I love the game so much I really don t care. The game is that good.

I want a free trial (obviously) but I DO understand some of the points here.

I know you shelled out full price (a gamble) to "try" the game. I know server loads are going to be insane so us folks who havnt just "bought" the game can use the bandwidth YOU folks are paying for....

...BUT- I still think its a good move. Someone like me (who sticks with a game for a long time if its good) dosent have the disposable income to pay $50 or so to try a game. There are four games I would like to try out right now and of those four only FE is going to let me try the game soon. I imagine I will be a paying sub within the first three days of the trial (assuming there are no unforeseen problems) I am just worried mostly about my system specs running it properly- This allows me to play around and make sure it will run good and be playable before I buy.

After the trial is over, I imagine there will be ALOT of subs (which translate into more servers and money for the devs- And the game as a whole)- Yes there will be people just wanting to play for free for a week- But I think this may bring in alot of loyal customers who arent looking for "the flavor of the week" but a steady MMO home.

Nah in no way am I pissed. I am concerned about the impression it will leave with a sudden rush of lets say 4500 people and its affect on being able to play. The event sounds very fun and the rewards are cool. I think if this is they type of event s we can look forward to then this is gonna be an awesome ride. I just think the timing is bad with the recent server issues is all. I am in great hopes that its a limited amount of keys say in the 2-4k range and I think it might be bumpy that first day or 2 but be ok. If its a huge number of keys I will get my shotgun next year is all.

You are out on a limb. You paid for the game and are playing it and enjoying it, right? What's wrong with letting some people try out the game for 15 days? Maybe they will like it and pay for it too. That's a good thing.

Blue I hope you enjoy it and play as you are a good add for the community I think.  I hope the server load will make it enjoyable for you. The only issues right now are the growing pains ones and a lot of those will be smashed with 1.2 it appears.

You make some good points , and tbh I want the whole world to play FE because it really is that good , I for one have certainly found my new Mmo home with FE, I just think that its a little early to be giving people free time in the game when I have only just payed for it .... it just does'nt seem right is all .
 

A lot of the trials are going to sign in play for a bit and sign out and never play again. I know a lot of people who want to give this a try but are jaded by all the recent online game flops that $50 is just to much to try an independent game that tries something that hasn't been done in a while. Can't wait to see some new people and make some new friends :)

 I guess I was super wrong, there is a trial, and infact their doing it during an event. Not bad, not bad at all.

so how do you get a key? are they going to email everyone thats signed up to mmorpg.com or something?

Wish I knew- I WANT A KEY  PLEASE. I also have a credit card and have no PROBLEM buying the game if it runs okay on my PC- IN fact, I dont need 15 days (whatever) just 2 or 3 to see if it runs good on my PC.

PLEASE- IF ANYONE has a key- send to bluegrazz@hushmail.com - I just need a day or two to see if it runs with my crappy video card (it meets the minimum specs- But....)

Well I will be looking to get a key. I had the pleasure of beta testing the game and playing into open beta. I would like to see how much better the game runs and see some of the changes. FE is a nice change from all the high fantasy games out there. Hopefully this goes well and they get some new people into the game.
