Game Update 14: Death Troopers has gone live, and just in time for the Halloween season! Death Troopers ties in with a new Star Wars Galaxies novel by the same named penned by author Joe Schreiber, and introduces an undead-themed storyline to the game. The update also brings other goodies such as the new Flare-S speeder, a number of new collections, and more!

Not at all. After reading the description, all I could think of was "WTF, zombies now? How low can the universe sink?"

Even if you want to give the basic premise a shot (BIG if), just how suspenseful are "zombies" going to be in a universe with killer androids, light sabers, sith and jedi, and ships that can destroy a planet form orbit?!  A "zombie outbreak" would last 11 seconds.  How would a "zombie" manage to chew through storm trooper body armor?! LOL

I knew Smed was an idiot, but wasn't sure until they actually went live with this that he had, in fact, become brain dead.

Star Wars was going downhill back when Timothy Zahn decided to make reference to "chocolate milk" in _Heir to the Empire_ but this is scraping the bottom of the barrel.  Smed may be capitalizing on this, but the idea is coming from a book to be published and that likely was authorized by GL....  Sad, but I'm sure the justification is that supernatural powers have always been a part of Star Wars, that whole communing with undead jedi ghosts and all...

This is just sad.  SWG has gone so far off canon you got to wonder why they're still calling it Star Wars.  I definitely can't wait for the day when people talk about SWG in the past tense.

Any stupid fanfiction passing itself off as this so called "Expanded Universe" is simply that.  Fanfiction.  It's not canon in any way, shape, or form.

What the fuck is with zombies in Star Wars, I can't believe someone at Lucas Arts agreed to have this shit put in the game.

This update.... makes it very hard for me to take Galaxies seriously now.

I mean... I enjoy the game.... but seriously, zombies? Seriously.

I'd laugh if it weren't so sad. The idiots at SOE have completely lost their minds.

its better than the beggining of the NGE um has a long way to go. even though its zombies its alot better than the stuff they have been doling out for awhile. if they take what they did here and focused on it and listening to the community ideas for the GCW just a little SWG would become a little more bearable. like i said before i only play swg because its the only sw GCW timelined mmo lol if someone else were ot take a crack at it i would definately jump ship no questions.

but for the time being it is slightly bearable... lol

Can we say lets take a heaping massive  pooo all over what little respect SWG might have had as little as that might have been.

And what happens with SW:ToR?

Will we see this kind of "stuff" in this game too after some years or month after release?

I want to try this other game once it comes out but this idea crossed my mind.

This is not Smed or SOE  fault. They are not the ones writing Star Wars books and pushing / developing the SW  lore. That is  Lucas company.

SWG adapts to the current development in the Star Wars history. And as a game. That does not matter. It brings new and interesting stuff for us players. But for Starwars Lore geeks its another story.. New game updates are actually good!

Lucas destroyed the good old trioligy that most of us think is "real"  starwars or the holy trinity..

But that is the way the world works.. things change and old men and woman are always sitting at their old folks home talking about how much better things were in the past.. always been like that. And this forum is a reminder that things will stay like that :)
