This is a discussion topic for those currently playing. As we near the one month mark, I'd like to hear what you feel are the pro's and cons of Aion as it relates to the gameplay. Everyone knows about the gold spam and bots, so don't list that. I'm interested more in what you like and don't like about the aspects of the game. For example: Specific classes/abilities too underpowered/overpowered You opinion on questing (are quests too generic or just right) Instances (are they itemized or should they be) PvP (group mechanics vs. zerging) Soloability post lvl 35
Let try and keep the trolling out of it if possible. I don't care about queues/bots/gold spam. |

One of the more interesting things I've found out is as you get further in the game as far as abyss ranking goes, the penalty for death becomes much harsher the higher level rank you are. One example I've seen (perhaps someone can verify) was if you were a high rank, you amount of AP per kill was fairly low but one death could potentially wipe out a whole day's worth of AP. |

The Cons mainly, is that for some reason unknown forum lurkers will actually 'Convince' you, that the 'General chat spam' will make playing a 5 years old game a better decision.
However to answer some of your question:
-Some say that Sorcerers are not as fragile as what you,d expect from a cloth class. Spirit masters seem to have CC advantage in one to one situation. Assasins gameplay in the game is actually risky and there are no out of jail cards.
-Quests are standard First-generation type, with some Mission quests now and then that feature story elements. These story quests are very good but few.
-Not quiet sure, i do know that drop percentages are less than a game like WoW.
-In Aion killing gives you AP, dying makes you lose AP. And the more you have the more you lose, basicly. A good player will try to avoid Zerging because he will become the Obvious target and lose lots of points. So making a carefully selected group of players and doing Rift PvP or obtaining Artifacts during seiges in the Abyss is much more prefered if you care about ranking.
-Solobality now is lacking specially after lvl35. However, a new patch is comming soon adding millions of XP for quest from 27+. So much of this issue should be addressed soon. Link
Hope that answers your questions.

Thanks for the answers. A few friends of mine mentioned performance is an issue in the big fortress sieges due to how many players are onscreen at one time but I guess the outlook (or hope) is that this will not always be the case going foward. Is any one class more gear dependent than others? |
