Why are people so obsessed with calling each other fanbois in mmos? Do they feel more secure about themselves by accusing someone of being a fanboi? Now that person very well may be a fanboi, but why does the accuser get such satisfaction out of calling him out?

The terms 'fanboy' and 'troll' have been on gaming forums almost as long as there have been games and the Internet. Go into almost any game specific forum and anyone who likes the game will be labeled a fanboy by someone eventually. Reversely anyone who dislikes a game will be labeled a troll eventually. It's funny because I've been labeled as both fanboy and troll before over the course of a single multi-page thread discussing the same game just because I both praised and complained about different aspects of the game. Basically you will be labeled by certain individuals based solely on the fact that you dared to disagree with them. It's been going on for many years now and I don't see it ending any time soon.
Generally it all boils down to this: If you are in an argument over a game with certain people and they run out of counter-arguments it wont be long before the fanboy or troll labels start flying. It's a way for them to try and belittle your argument as in, "Well your opinion doesn't matter anyway because your just a fanboy/troll!" This is how it's used most often and it's just sad in the extreme. There are real 'fanboys' and 'trolls' out there but the true meaning of the terms have become terribly blurred over the years.
