I reacted given our own history, not a random answer to a random person. I've stated in the past that I was a burn out of a game I enjoyed a lot and played for years. Despite saying that I enjoyed the game a lot and played it for years, you felt the need to belittle me, classify me and all similar burnouts as haters and proclaim our opinion on the game as irrelevant. Both our post history is visible for anyone to explore. Besides, there is another issue at hand. I respond to this thread shedding some mild positive light, since I'm playing the game. The people who got bored with the game, have at least given it a chance before abandon it. What exactly are the people who never played the game or don't intent to are doing in this thread? |

The MMORPG Genre is stagnant since years. The only thing thats evolving is graphics. Ill give you one simple example what someone could do to give a MMO the RPG part of it: Chessboards. What, Chessboards? Yea, exactly that. In UO my bud and i could just visit an inn in Trinsic or wherever, or even in our own house, sit down, doubleklick on the chessboard, and have a chess-game together. When we did this in our house, we could watch reds outside running past our house, chasing blues, or blues chasing reds, while we, in our comfortable little house and in safety, could relax, have fun, and socialize. The game basically provided the tools to socialize. You cant have real roleplaying in a MMO whn it doesnt provide the tools to do so. And UO is 10 years old. No mmo after UO managed to have chessboards.... That fact alone proves that the so called next generation mmos are not what they claim to be.
Btw, im playing Eve Online, because its different and competitive and challenging, and im anxiously awaiting Walking in Stations. There we will be able to have minigames for money, play strategy games together, and whatnot. That yet proves again that CCP is the only MMO company in the world who are able to grasp what a mmorpg should be, AND at the same time have the skills, manpower and experience to realise it. |

What was the point of your post? You just said that MMO have the same stuff in them yet you suggestion a feature that is in another game already? Also you stated you can't socialize in MMOs just because you can't roleplay and how does this prove that "so called next genration games are not what they claimed to be"? I never heard any MMO say " We RP because we are a next generation MMO!" You know why... cause rolepalying is played out and old. Your arguement is not even valid as you contridict yourself by saying you want some thing new but really you want more of the same. Lastly, If the MMO genre is so stale why are there more MMOs out these past monthes then all last year? Get facts and make sense in a post friend.
Back to the point of the forum...one the problems is Aion can never live up to the 3-4 year hype train it was on. NCsoft should have kept the lid on the game until a least a year. Its the same thing that Christmas did for you as a kid..all that hype for 30 minutes of present opening. Also after 2-3wks of play I would say that you have not explored the game enought to say that you are bored. I would say maybe its dislike of the game or burned out on MMOs. Its like starting over again...some people just don't like it. If you find Aion boring then take a break from MMOs. Its likely that you are bored with the genre. |

soooo, you couldnt grasp the point of my post. fine. maybe thats the reason why the first paragraph in your reply made zero sense. But alright, ill bite (for this time), even if your fanboyism is to obvious, and its a fact one can never have a constructive argument with a fanboi. But nonetheless, ill try to break the point of my post to you in simpler words so that even you can grasp it. As for RP´ing: You obviously define that term by players playing it out by themselves, talking in medieval language and all that shit. I hate to break it to you, but i can do that in every MMO and their Mother, no matter how shitty the game is. But "RP´ing" in your terms, thats not the point of my post. The point is, that Aion THE GAME is nothing but another stupid and boring grinder, with nothing else to it. A good mmorpg, as opposed to aion, would provide more than just grindeage. Chessboards are only one example out of millions what companies could do. Treasure hunting with treasure maps anyone? But youll probably never be able to grasp that, thats why im stopping here. I could rip your whole post apart, but its futile. Some people just dont have the attention span to see the bigger picture. |

I still have the rest of this month to play it before I will have to re sub so I am going to roll another class and give it one more go. Maybe this time will be different since I know what to expect. XD |

You might find yourself totally fed up with the game by the time you hit lvl 25 or so, and discover perhaps the class isn't for you. (not trying to be negative here, lol. Just another perspective). My main beef with Aion (apart from gold spammers / sellers) is the lack of replayability / linearity of the lower lvls..which might not be an issue for some. Anyway, As a lvl 30 Templar, you have so much to look forward to in the game, be it group pvp, instances, etc.. - far more viable than my SM, I'd imagine and a lot more in demand. (I wouldnt be playing as one if I didn't love the class so much).

Just realized that the game has only been out 3 or 4 wks and if these people are bored then maybe the game is not for them. It seems that these people are just tired of MMOs in general. The great thing about an MMO is that you make your own fun in the game. If you are grind and trying to reach the top level and not enjoying the game then you will think its boring. Or if they don't enjoy the gameplay then they might be bored. I say that its fine to have a forum to say that they don't like the game...but remember its just a forum. There are thousands of players that enjoy the game and are playing right now. Secondly, I wish people would stop flaming each other over who likes the game and who doesn't. If you don't like the game thats cool why make a forum about it? Are you that bored with your life that you have to get on here and complain. I see no reason to make a post except that you are bored of real life. Why else post for the attention? There are already forums with people saying the same thing. That doesn't make it fact, thats just poeple bored and thing they have a "new perpective" on the game. Read some old forums and stop making repeat posts. And the Cracker Jack box psycho-analysis continues... Thirdly, stop giving these bored people some thing to do. If you like the game great. Don't let these forums get to you. Poeple are entitled to their opinion. Lashing out at them because they don't like the same game you do is just dumb. Lastly, my opinion of the game (just to stay on topic) at level 21 I have found a great group of people to play with and I am enjoying the game. I can see that there is a lot of soloing until 16+ when you start get the group quests. I found this time to polish my skills with the templar. Grouping is where any MMO shines...its the whole reason they even exist imo. So I think if you don't create a social network you will be bored. If you are just bored then maybe MMOs are not for you any more. I took a 4 month break after War to play this game and just played console. I think that really renewed my hunger for a new MMO. Pus all my friends where picking the game up and we are having a blast. Cons about the game: spammers and bots (hopefully we will start seeing bots and spammer drop after a bit but this is hardly a deturrent for me). At this point its clear that spammers are just trying to be annoying. To me that is the biggest problem and really its not the games fault. The game is also linear( meaning you go in one direction and not a lot of free world) but I like being driven by the story. I would go to a friends or check out another source beside a forum on weather you should buy a game. After all how many people are going to jump on a forum to say how awesome the game is? Not many they are all busy playing.

And this is why i hate wow, because it has introduced the "i must get to level cap first" crowd into the mmo community. You people continuously complain about every single thing until finally its made easier for you, you want everything to be right now and it has to take minimal effort to get it. MMorpg's used be about socializing and grouping up to attain a common goal, now its just about loot and getting to level cap, then complaining the game has no content. MMo developers are listening to all you idiots and this is why we have shallow boring games today..theres no challenge and everything is given to you while having your fat hand held along the way. |

Yeah I myself also became very bored of this game. Leveled a Gladiator to level 22 and left it there. Logged in last night to see if I can push on and was a bit turned off by the new "minigame" inside of Aion. For the first 5 minutes of logging in I had to sit there and play the game known us "Kill the Spammers." And no it's not block the 3 or 4 spammers. I was counting how many i had to block, it was 11 in just the general chat. Then In the Gladiator chat were another 5. But whatever you can "block" them so I shouldn't cry right? I ran up to the 1st mob killed it then 2nd mob, no more than 3 minutes I went back into the gen chat and there I find more spammers scrolling those annoying icons.....I sighed and I logged the eff out. |

Agreed OP im just glad i dident fall for this hype like i did with WAR and AOC.
I played the chinees beta / retail for about 3 weeks lvl1 to 10 was pretty fun 10-20 was "ok" lvl20-25 the grind slaps you in the face and from 25+ aion shows its true colors...i stopped playing @ lvl28 and canceld my preorder.

You guys have to come at this game from a different angle. It isnt about reaching the level cap first. You will fail, you will be bored, and you will have wasted money. Instead just enjoy leveling and crafting and pvp'ing and running instances. Guess what at level 50 you will have all aspects of the game covered at that point. From 41-42 it took approx 49 million exp to level. That is a very high amount. Traditional grinding will not work for most people unless they enjoy the repetitive tasking. You guys have to switch it up and not get burned out! Ashmaker - Ranger

Long thread.. Sheesh... I didn't read it all, as I got in on this late.. so it's likely that I'm about to say something that's already been said.... Here goes.... It seems like this comes up with EVERY new MMORPG, and it seems like every time anyone says it, they run back to another MMORPG that they dropped for the current one... Which leads me to question, if the common complaint is been there, done that, or this isn't anything new... Then why go back to the other game? You are going from been there done that, to.. well, been there done that.... That makes about as much sense to me as griping about it in the first place. |

Every person has his own way of having fun, a opinion of another won't help here at all. If people don't like the game from level 20+, then so be it. Saying it gets better in the end run is somewhat ridiculous. Some people also don't like S&M but do you tell them they should ignore the pain because in the end it will be fun?
