So

me and the wife played a bit on new characters and then moved over to focus on our original characters. I am a 65 SK and she is a 58 Druid. What is the best way for her to catch up? She can heal for 650 but I have 7K HPs and zones that give me XP have creatures that hit in the 500's?  I wish she could slow since most POP mobs don't root but my questions are:

1. Where is somewhere good for her to solo for XP?

2. Where is a good spot for me to tank/get AA's while she get's good XP as well?

We tried Temple of Droga and Seballis but they seemed a bit slow. Any other spots? I saw new hotspots including PoN but not sure if I would be so slow killing those mobs that it would be bad XP even as a hotspot?

You guys can try out the new hotzones. Plane of nightmare should be a good spot for both of you guys to duo. I think you should focus on your combat agility and stability AA's. That'll help you out a bit more with your defenses.

Veksar would be the best place.

I was thinking that you guys could pick up a healer merc or two. That should work out fine. I know you were kinda tight on pp because you were coming back to naked (neked hehe) chars.  Good luck and make sure to tell us your results! oh and what server are you on?

Yep, got a lot of good advice here and at SOE. This weekend I got my wife's druid to 61 with two great nights in Grieg's end. We just ran aimlessly around from room to room slaying everything. Worked well for 3 and a half levels for her and about 13 AA for me. I got another 10 AA yesterday soloing in PoN and heading over to Paw with a group. Mainly was gun shy of trying some of this stuff solo. Back in the day I didn't walk into a Plane by myself with any hope of soloing. I did find a nice person to make my 65 lvl spells which helped alot (540pt life spike, new dmg shield, and life proc). I got 3 AA in Combat Agility and 2AA in Combat Stability now which might be helping. I hope to get the 3rd AA in Stability tonight.

For tonight we are going to tackle Hobgoblins in PoN. I have a HZ quest for them.  I would like to also hit PoF. I've never been. I also have all of GoD I haven't seen yet but was wanting to get her caught up first. The Chloroblast spell helped a ton this weekend. I think she had missed some spells since last time we played many years ago.

Im not currently playing but I do box an SK and shammy, I found that I could solo in PoF with my sk if I stuck to yard trash. With my shammy there as well it was a cake walk, hardly slowed the mobs, so could be a good place for the two of you if you feel like trying it out.

Thanks for the info. Im glad things are going great. It helps me feel more confident that I will be able to solo a bit easier then before on my Shammy. Keep us updated, im enjoying the stories. Did you try out mercs?

Had my first total party wipe last night. I cannot figure out how to get safely down that stupid cliff in PoN. We jumped down and five Hobgoblins aggroed us and waxed us quickly, then we levitated down and other mobs are all up and down the coast. None are very tough but it's that disorienting idea of walking into a situation blind. Finally gave up and killed the Werewolves to the right of the graveyard for an hour or two.  I was very annoyed because I lost lvl 65 and couldn't use my shoulders, neck item and 2hder. I was still in the mindset of two deaths being a loss of a five hour night of grinding but the bodies popped back into the graveyard and my wife gave me a 90% rezz and re-ding!

Glad your enjoying the stories.  I haven't personally tried out mercs but I've grouped with two cleric mercs who kept me alive and kicking. I haven't see the tank merc but I heard they were pretty sweet and with a Shammy are awesome!

To get past that spot in PoN I remember having to invis (it decreases aggro range) and jumping at a point you can make it to the other side? I haven't played in years but kind of remember the spot you are talking about.

If you guys have SoD expansion you should get a merc.  They are more expensive if you hire mercs later, just fyi.  Also if one of you take a cleric merc, you could've gotten a 96% rez instead of 90.  But I'd gladly take 90 if it means to re-ding and be able to use my weapons that's for sure lol.

The place you want to jump down at is near the wall, where there's only 1 spawn there, with 1 near.  So you should get a max of 2 if the second one agro at all.  If you don't jump down hugging the wall, you will jump down where there are a group of 2, and 2-3 near by.

I guess I've just been cheap on the merc. Definitely plan on trying one out in PoF or Noble's Causeway soon. Thanks for the info on the Hobgoblins.

Another question if you guys don't mind? Where is the entrance in PoT to PoF? Someone said it was close to zone in but I didn't see it? One more point to 50AA's! I know it's small pototaes but I was pretty happy last night to get to 49.

It's a building to the north east of zone-in, you click on the fireball inside the building.

Welcome back! The game is a lot of fun. I am enjoying playing Abraxos the SK (65) who is grinding out AA's and I made a Troll Shammy for fun on the side.

However, I am noticing my 66 lvl plus spells are upwards of 15K a piece in the market. I currently have about 4K after equipment. What are some good money making zones?  Other than the occasional diamond or gem, PoF is awful. Mostly unsellable crafting junk and very rarely do I see Defiant Drops to sell. I haven't been anywhere yet past the POP expansions but find it hard to believe that Sand and Hill Giants still are the best cash droppers in the game (They're level 38)? This just seems super steep when you get 4 or 5 per lvl and can't kill the named mob without either a raid group or an 85 or 2 to help?

Any GOD areas that are good for cash? I've been hesitant to go because yard trash in PoF gave us a tough time with me and the Druid. I'm waiting on Mercs till I can afford two new expansion packs.

I would actually suggest you hunt in zones that drop runes for your lvl 66-70 spells.  Rather than farm for money and buy these spells in the bazaar, you can just farm for the runes needed to turn in for spells.  And to answer your question the hill giants are still good for straight up cash, surprisingly.  But there are other zones with good vendor drop items.

There are 2 versions of runes you get in different zones for lvl 66-70 spells:

everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html

everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html

Check them out and see if you want to hunt in those zones.

I looked them up and most of the mobs for the 66th lvl runes fall off named 70th lvl mobs with great possibility of adds. I figured if I couldn't swing 3 "yard mobs" in PoFire with a druid, that I probably couldn't handle a new zone with a specific named 70th mob yet ?

If you're soloing, I would probably avoid them.  If you are duoing with mercenaries, or have a group for it, you may be able to do them.  This camp in particular is fairly easy to handle, easier if you have someone that can slow, mez, or split pull via lull.  eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml

A lot of people prefer Omens of War version of these runes as you have more zone choices.  Look at the zone list for just the minor muramite runes:  everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html

One thing I liked about these runes is that you don't get duplicate spells, unlike the PoP parchment turn-ins.  They've improved on that and will always give you a new spell you don't have upon turn ins.

We are slowly working on getting up to par. I was busy helping the Druid get caught up to 65 and never asked but by 62 She was no longer buying spells. Never occured to me that she wasn't improving spellwise and that could be part of our problem. Better heals, dmg sheild, and dots and nukes were being missed.

So I am getting some spells for her and we will get her to 65 tonight (1 blue left). After that we will get a few more AA's in PoN and then try to move to bigger better things. I've managed to get  86 AAs while she caught up with the SK which are starting to help a bit also. She also gets ports to Wall of Slaughter now which might help with travel times.

For fun we are trying a Shaman/Wizey combo as Alts for those moments that AA grind becomes numbing.  I wish my Shammy was playing with my SK for slow but oh well....
