Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but the GM's on Anarchy Online will also greet new players and ask if they need any help. Anarchy Online being of course Funcom's other MMO.

This is a pretty good policy. Most people will have alot of issues in the first session of any activity.

I signed into my AoC trial today and had a pleasant surprise. While I was running around Tortage slaying pirates to get fish for some fat guy, a GM messaged me. He said he saw I was new, and asked if I had any questions for him. I was kind of dumbfounded, since when do GMs message you 'just to talk'? I said everything was going alright, and he thanked me and told me about how to get into contact with him if I ever had a question, and he formally welcomed me to the game.

It was a very nice experience, but it was very telling of how the population of the game is. With GMs assigned to 'meet and greet the new kids,' I can't imagine this game is going too well.

It's truly a shame, because I'm having fun with the trial, and I don't think this game deserves to die so early on. I think it's a well put together game with a cool combat system to boot.

Then again, I hear the tutorial zone is the best part of the game.

The GMS in AOC were best ive ever encounterd in any MMO . They are timely and very helpful when i had to call them foir assistance.

(AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH raises plunger in salute to AOC Gm's!)

Currently, the GMs in AOC are pretty helpful, however, 800K players who initially played AOC at launch will never forget the absolute horrid customer service they received from FC GMs. It took about a year for FC to finally properly train their GMs.
It is good that FC now understand the importance of having professional GMs in game and perhaps they will have a very large, well trained GM corp at the release of TSW.

I was going to bring this up also but its worth repeating. This seems to be an FC staple and had this happen to me in AO. Never did happen in AoC but I did have a problem and got an in game GM pretty quick.

When it comes to CS ... I've seen much MUCH worse.

Just like most other games who have seen a huge amount of interest at launch then. The launch and having qualified GM's seems to be a disease few companies have fully solved yet.
