MMORPG.com's Jon Wood has put together the known elements of CCP's upcoming console MMOFPS DUST 514 and come up with this article, shedding some light on some of the game's more basic elements.

I don't even own a console right now, but I might buy another one to play this game. It seems far more sophisticated than many of the other FPS games I have played. Being tied to Eve makes it much more interesting from my perspective. |

Should have gone with powered armor simular to In Living Steel or Terra Nova. Would of had personal module and rig slots, different classes of armor, shielding and armor plating, basicly adopt the already winning combination from Eve Online, even jump jets and counter EW like webs and tracking disruption even spider tanking. Custom paint schemes on your power suit and building in clone memory scanners in the suit. Different sensor suites like visual, infra red or ultra and the ability to jam in those bands. Yep, could have been awesome but now just a cool distraction. |

Can we play the god damn game first before we jump to conclusions? All I know is a few details, not enough to label the game anything other than a Console Fps mmo with sci-fi theme. Why would I play a pathetic themepark MMO when I could enjoy a masterpiece like Mass Effect, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Dragon Age? |

It will be interesting to see how they handle the gear upgrades and unlockable tiers. I only hope it's more like Team Fortress 2 than World of Warcraft. Of course it will have to ship on the PC for me to play it, hehe. |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNhPig8inEY CCP's Fanfest 2009 keynote - watch from approx 1 hour and on for Dust 514 details. Or as an EVE player watch from 50ish minutes and onward to see how it will affect our game. |

I'm definatly looking foward to playing this. Mine in Eve while blowing stuff up in Dust. Also when it is setup that you can send isk from Dust to Eve, might be a fun way to make isk when you're tired of mining and pvping in ships. I think it's gonna be a fun fps if nothing else. |

I am cautiously optomistic. I am an FPS player and an EVE fan (It being one of the ONLY MMO's I've ever left and come back to.) so this could be the perfect combo. Or the perfect nightmare. We'll see.
NOt sure what I'd do with persistant housing in an FPS but hey.. :D Current MMO: None |

Knowing CCPs insatiable appetite to tweak and upgrade Eve over the long term, I suspect Dust will follow in that direction positively. That in itself should safe guard its success. In the end however we'll only have the answer to that when Dust goes live. |

I am _really_ looking forward to this title. I'm an avid EVE player and I hope this will open up some new options for the sovereignty system. I also have lots of friends who enjoy FPS's (I don't) that I can wrangle in to partner with my EVE corp and serve as the "ground pounders". I work in the MMO industry and I have to say, this is revolutionary stuff. |

why is there no DUST 514 forum yet, eh? i'm looking forward to this game, but if the cap ends up being 64 i'm not as excited as i am for planetside 2. they need to have hundreds vs hundreds, like the ship battles in eve... |

You're kidding... right? What other console FPS sci-fi MMO is linked to a PC-Based Sci-Fi MMO? If anything they have worked to create a very different FPS MMO that is anything but generic. These type of comments can be accepted once the game is released and the general feel of the game feels generic (which, knowing CCP, I highly doubt). Until then, we can only speculate. |
