These forums for the most part are full of people bashing the game because they don't like an aspect of it. I love this game and below I will explain why.

AV has given us a sandbox game. But it's not the same sandbox that everyone stereotypes it with. This game lets you do what you want to an extent. Sure it doesn't let you build wherever you want to but that is not the sandbox i am talking about.

AV has given us, the players, a blank scroll to write the history of Darkfall upon it. We decide how the events unfold. Will SiN take over the NA-1 server? Who will stand up to them? Will the land of Yssam always be a thriving community, protected by the guilds that inhabit it? I don't know and there is no one that can say they know for sure. Maybe TRA will become too powerful and want to claim other properties on the main land? Who still stand up to them. Will you let them come and level your cities, kill your harvesters and destroy your alliances? It is up to the players.

To experience Darkfall in its greatest moments, you need to live inside the game. You have to be a part of something bigger than just your character and your ego. Join a guild, form an alliance and create history. Who's to say that one day a massive alliance will form that decides they want every property on agon. They can go from city to city, making the clans either ally with them or fall before them. It IS POSSIBLE to do something like this. And it is also possible to defend against it.

To me, this game is more about the community, the politics, and the respect and honor you can attain within it. You only have 1 character (most likely) and 1 name. How will you portray yourself? Will you be a whiney grief that cries zerg every time he dies? Will you be a great, unguilded pker that is known throughout the lands. Will you be a valiant defender of your city and soldier for your alliance? You decide. So far in this game i have seen:

A player buy and sell cities and hamlets himself
A player own his own city and rent it out
A guild own their own cities and rent them out
200+ on 200+ siege battles
More than i can coun't epic 1v1 battles in the middle of no where
3-4+ different grps all with different allegiances attacking at the same place and ending up killing each other.

Iv'e seen massive ships, floating tanks, cavalry charges, ambushes, slaughters, and the most epic battles of any game possible.

In this game, 1 player can equal multiple players in worth and not because of his gear but because of his skill.

To all those that cry, OH MAGIC you are so powerful and how do we win with out you! There is a way.

I myself have gone the route of the anti-magic-explosive-dealer-of-death.

What a lot of people don't seem to understand is that you have to be hit in order to get damaged. I can't click on someone and have my spells home on in. I need to hit them. Sure some of the high level magic spells have large aoe's but they still need to get them close to you. With plate/scale armor, 3 elemental school resists buffs, and some common resist jewelry i am pushing 13-14 in my resists. I do extremely well vs. mages using just archery, melee and utility magic spells. If you don't believe me them come to Talpec on Yssam and i will duel you.

This is the best game out there, please don't let the forum trolls ruin it for us

Someone please tell Tasos to put in a 2 week trial sometime soon. I'd love to check out the PVP in this game, but with all the controversy with this game Im not ready to hand Razorwax/Adventurine any cash. Any word on a trial?

Don't expect to ever see a free trial. That would show people the truth and that would be the final nail in the DnF coffin.

I was totally nice and cordial about things and my thread got locked by a "MOD" who essentially accused me of wanting to play for free. Its a good read but pretty much shows the state of the game and the "damage" control being done by the Mods.

I went through that thread a bit. Not really sure where all the shock and awe is coming from over the simple question of is there a trial.

I don't even follow nor ttrash this game since seeing some "high quality videos" of it. Dropped completely off my radar at that point.

  HOWEVER, didn't tasos during development  pretty much swear that there would be a free trial? I'll look it up if need be, but im almost positive.

Thats pathetic and downright stupid of the community and Razorwax/Adventurine. Do they not realize that people that play a trial might actually sub to the game if they like it?

Your thread was anything but nice and cordial lol. They've already stated over and over that they will not offer trial accounts yet you posted another thread pretty much demanding a trial and an official response within hours of your OP on a Sunday...

And you wonder why they told you to go away?

It's amazing how drastically different some people will interprete a few paragraphs.

They have more people asking for a trial over at the Darkfall site.

I really think a trial is a good idea. I wouldn't still be an EVE player if CCP hadn't  offered one. I'm too new to Darkfall to really say if it's too early for a trial, but at this point I really don't think it will hurt.

I didn't find his post to be rude, but it was annoying and kinda pointless after his very first post. I mean, how many times can you say "i'm not gonna play this game until it has a trial?". His post was OK the first time, but everything after that is ranting IMHO.

Tacos stated that no one would ever have to pay to play before they got to try the game.

Bottom Line: HE LIED, plain and simple.

That actually made me laugh.

I'm not going to lie. I distinctly remember that assurance from AV. I really think they bit off way more than they could chew. My god look at what cryptic just did to STO. In order to be Klingon you know have to go through a several hour Fed tutorial. Apparently not enough time to finish a Klingon one up.  Who knows, maybe the Investors said no way, it releases this date. Final.

Anyhoo, still gonna be playing Darkfall, I love it.

I'd love to play this game... but not until I can get a free trial.

Really if there was anything remotely interesting out there for my particular tastes (aside from EVE which i need some time off), I'd probably be in the same boat as you. I've got some free time on my hands for a change, so I just took the plunge, and am glad I did.

So many people asking for a trial. Hope they don't hold out too long on that. People will all eventually forget about it.

I can't help but wonder why they don't offer a trial...  Do they not have the servers to handle the influx?  Do they lack the confidence that we'll still buy the game after trying it?
