Have you ever seen a game that is developed on the console? You have to think like CCP - they already got a PC game based on EVE IP, no reason to make another. |
|

after this they just need the possibility to board ships to take em over (through a fight for survival) and crews that can pick up a gun and shot when necessary:P |

They said that while there are 50k planets in game only around 1k of those are habitable. Buy they also at another time talked about having slave workers at mines on not so habital planets as well so remains to be seen how many are actually usable. "Memories are meant to fade. They're designed that way for a reason." |

During the panel video they said 1000 planets are inhabitable lore wise. Just got to watch the whole thing. Why would I play a pathetic themepark MMO when I could enjoy a masterpiece like Mass Effect, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Dragon Age? |

yeah torfil mentions wanting to abuse miners on a harsh venus like planet |

IF they end up leaving sov to console players it will EPIC FAIL

Originally posted by PoopyStuff Sounds like you made a one line post without watching and/or understanding the video. Dust is PLANET sovereignty, not SYSTEM sovereignty. In terms of planetary sovereignty they don't leave it to dust players, it is but one thing they talked about to flip planet sovereignty. Try again, next time try not to call something an epic fail while epically failing...

Honestly I dont think Eve will ever hit that magic 600 to 1 million mark. Even with Incarna, sov revamp, mining additions and the planet Sim along with Dust I just dont see it happening. Doesn't matter to me though Anywhere from 200k to 500k is just fine imo. Maybe not anytime soon but it can happen. This is not a game. |

Your right, you never know. Eve could hit a sweet spot with certain features and all of a sudden BAM! everyone and thier mother is playing it. But right now as much as I love Eve it is very niche and alot of people are just too laid back and into instant gradification to join the game in droves. It's still the best mmo Ever imo :) Why would I play a pathetic themepark MMO when I could enjoy a masterpiece like Mass Effect, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Dragon Age? |

The simcity ish gameplay on Eves planets were only talked about. They did confirm the order of the next released expansions though. Dec will give us Dominion (sov revamp, Cosmos, New faction ships,Starts/planets graphics revamp New ingame browser). First expansion of 2010 will be the planetary simcity game. Last expansion of 2010 will be incarna (walking in stations). Also CCP has hinted at mining additions, Sky box graphics revamp, T3 frigs and Modules.
They also said those three expansions will be out before Dust so I would expect that by Dec 2010 or Q1 2011 on consoles. Why would I play a pathetic themepark MMO when I could enjoy a masterpiece like Mass Effect, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Dragon Age? |

No beast so fierce but knows some touch of pity. I know none and therefore, am no beast. |
Sounds great, too bad the current Eve is mindnumbingly boring as a game. Mine all day, rat all day, do missions all day or get blown up in lowsec sector by a gank squad. That is Eve for most players. |

Mining all day, missions all day and getting ganked tells me you played solo and never really figured out what you wanted to do. Oh well gl in your next game. Your right, you never know.
Eve's gameplay is too complicated for the masses, and it doesn't play well with the instant gratification crowd. But I think 600k is a fairly reasonable goal. I personally think its a damn shame the game isn't housing millions of subscribers... its head and shoulders above other games in scope and innovation, and it just keeps getting better. Of course the new generation of gamers gave rise to reality TV... its not surprising the average age of an Eve Player is 28. |

I'm going to be perfectly awkward and admit that I have a boner for Incarna. I want it to be implemented now.
(I don't really have a boner, but you get the idea. I want Incarna. Now) :D |

To the original topic, that is pretty neat. It's pretty cool to see a company consistently trying to keep their game relevant. -mklinic "There's a point I think we're missing. |

someone please show me the link where ccp announced a releasedate for 2007, or 2008, or 2009....... Fact is, they never did. Anything else is just player rumours. But this time, CCP announced a planned release time for the first time ever. They said (word by word) "We´re hoping to release Incarna in 2010". So there.

relax....it was a joke.... Fact is, we've all been talking about the various incarnations of Walking-in-stations for, what seems like, forever. It was widely expected that it was going to be implemented Q4 of this year just like it's been widely expected to be implemented at various times in the past. Just like anyone who has to deal with customers though, CCP has made a good practice of CYA and not commited beyond "when it's done" (as far as I am aware). Like I said, I'm looking forward to it. I think it'll be a great addition to the game and another example of CCP expanding and innovating with the game they've created. However, I'm not holding my breath that it will be on time and I'll just enjoy it when it gets here. Or, maybe a month after it gets here so the bugs can be worked out ;) -mklinic "There's a point I think we're missing. |

This time, you can set your hopes high, that it will indeed come in 2010. But not at its beginning (this is what theyve also said). Im expecting Winter 2010. |
