I have been looking through the different skills: melee, pistol, rifle and dodge.

There's a couple of others - but there doens't seem to be much variety in attacks, etc...

Am I missing something here?

What makes the game fun? I like character customization - seems most people go with very similar builds.

iirc FE was suppose to have a lvl cap of 150 and like 15? or so sectors, so with the lvl cap where it is now, it may seem this way. I'm sure once the planned sectors are released and the lvl capped bumped, more skills will open up. but at the moment it does seem this way, granted im only level 11atm haha

Oh, there is a TON of abilities to get;

Even though the amount of weapon related skills is pretty limited and you won't automatically get them; you have to learn them from books there is so much other stuff;

All the other skills also have ascociated (trainable) abilities:

Armor Use, Dodge, Athletics, First Aid, Group Tactics, Mutagenics, etc.

Then there are 10 (!) different mutations with around  6 skills each.

Also there are faction related 'capstone' abilities which are unlocked when maxing certain combinations of skills / mutations.

Some of the higher level screenshots I saw had people with three hotbars filled to the brim with abilities.
