I understand Gorgos is the RP server. But it is the unofficial RP server, that’s fine RP communites often have to do that. But now I find out it is the unofficial RP server selected by NSoft? What is going on there, a server selected by Nsoft is surely an official one? |

makes sense. let ppl RP in their own language. Awaiting 2010-2011 - GW 2 - Tera - C9 - D3 - Heroes of Telara :) |

Gets better and better. Im amazed at what im seeing here since release. I realize that one has to sift through the crap but even after that its pretty apparent that NCsoft has taken what could have been a great launch and totally screwed it up. Its one nightmare after another. It has to be true, i have internet links. |

They just don't want to officially label it an "RP" server. Subs tend to shy away from a server with an RP label next to it. Basically they're saying if you want to RP here's your best bet, but nobody is going to force you to RP on this server. I kinda like the idea actually...sort of a poor man's age limit server. RP servers tend to have a more mature population. |

And by not labeling it as RP it keeps all the "L33T ZOMG LETZ PWN SOM GHEY RPers LAWL" douchenozzles off the server. |

I understand the unofficial/official situation, makes some sense now. But dumping everyone who wants to RP on one server, regardless of language? That seems a bit short sighted. RPers chat more than anyone else, I can only hope that English has been chossen as the unofficial language of the official/unofficial RP server. |

Right.... Look, the only sensible reason they can have for not making it an official RP server, is not having to officially enforce the RP ruleset, which would require a lot of resources (On an MMO scale anyway). ![]() |

Sense. You make it. Expect to be flamed. |

The server was never selected by NCsoft as an RP one. Gorgos was voted by the community to be the unofficial RP server. To notify the player-base, NCsoft simply posted it on the official site for all to see, but it was the community's choice, NCsoft haven't got anything to do with this. |

I like how NCsoft listens and makes little changes whether it takes actual code changes or not. Just today when I made a new character I noticed that many Asmod quests had had their quest texts changed to be spoken in a more English fashion as well as the NPCs standing around and waiting for your help when you see your past / future in the Ascension area speaking in a more expected English fashion and having more diverse things to say. Also the sprigs have voices now. Apologies for the grammar and rambling, I be tired and re-reading things is no longer helping. Objectiveness is delivered with a lack of personality made for the mainstream but never used for the mainstream. |

I wish more games would have official RP servers. I don't get why some people claim they don't work, I'm hard-pressed to believe they have first-hand experience beyond a single login. Unfortunately, most companies do not think having RP servers is worth the hassle. |

So all you're reading is maybe 100 dissatisfied individuals out of a player base in excess of 400k that's satisfied. I fail to see how the game is presumed a failing nightmare. NCSoft is doing a lot to fix and comabt all issues that surface. Server wait times are practically non existent anymore. So, the Q's were a lie? The gold spammers and bots are a lie? The banning of innocents is a lie? And mixed language RP server is a lie? Doesnt matter to me as your right, I dont play it. I saw enough in CB. But as said, with nearly a year into Asian release they have made a lot of mistakes that should have been avoided. It has to be true, i have internet links. |

To be fair though besides the queue issue I wouldn't say anything was a "nightmare". Hell, the queue thing wasn't even for me but just because I didn't have to wait hours to play doesn't mean i'm going to dismiss it. The other issues happen in mmorpgs when they release regardless if it released somewhere else first. Does it make it right? No, but unless the team behind LotR create another game I am convinced at this point you can expect the launch of a game to simply be fucked up. Some not too bad and others absolute train wrecks but these companies make the same mistakes and overlook the same things time and time again. It's ridiculous but what can you do? Best thing is to just stay the hell away from these games for the first 1-3 months unless you're willing to accept that it will take the company in general and management approximately that long to remove their heads from their asses. These companies simply refuse to be proactive and are only reactive. They aren't alone, it can be seen in other industries as well but it's still mind numbing. This launch was average at best to sub par at worst. Not an absolute mess but nothing to brag about either from what I have seen and experienced. EDIT: ...and they should have made an rp sever or two. Not my cup of tea but there are those that enjoy it. I really don't see what the harm would have been in having at least 1-2 of those but that's just my opinion. I know this doesn't apply to your post but figured I should comment on something at least somehow related to the op so I'm not accused of being a derailment advocate :P |

Yea, this one's a lie/rumor call it what you will. :) NCsoft never named, selected, or "mixed" the community on the RP servers. Those were chosen by the community (via voting), for the community, devs had nothing to do with it. |

RP servers do pretty well in fantasy games. I know AB in EQ2 has a very good population and Landroval in LOTRO, while the "unofficial RP server" is also one of the better population servers. Official or unofficial, a mixed language server of any kind is a mistake. It has to be true, i have internet links. |

Ban legit players. Keep telling yourself how cool it is while you play on a RP server where nobody speaks the same language. It has to be true, i have internet links. |

Someone seems a bit bitter for some reason. I don't play on the RP server and I honestly have still never encountered a que, though maybe I've just been lucky. Although the gold spamming is annoying, honestly it's the same as any other newer MMO I've played. And while this may not be the game for everybody, or even for me, I would say its a far cry from a nightmare. |

Is gold spamming bad on RP server? Usually it is a lot less. |

Well WickedJelly that’s exactly what I am doing, waiting till at least a month after launch before I play. That’s what I do with any MMO I intend to play. Nsoft ratifying community decisions on servers makes perfect sense. But how on earth did the community come to the decision to put multiple language users on one server? That is fraught with problems, the only advantage I can see is that they thought at least all the role players will be together. I am sure English will be the unofficial roleplaying language for the server, but it can only be a bugbear for the future. As to gold spamming even Lotro, one of the best support games I know took a couple of months to totally sort them out, I doubt Aion will be able to knock that on the head any sooner. |

General chat is English of course but the game features language channels that function in the same way the general chat does. To access them, hit Enter enter in the chat box. You should notice a bulb at the left side of the chat input line. Click on it and you'll see a number of language channels, among other things. |
