Can you imagine what I would do if I could do all I can?

We should suggest MMORPG.com that they allow us to create a small group of moderators, there to remove trolling and filter out information. At first it will be "nazi" style and we would be very severe and as time goes, things would get better.

Btw, MMORPG is indeed looking for new forum admins atm.

Banning people is not the answer. You ban someone they will just make another account, then there coming back with 2 agendas, bash the game and then being a pain in the ass to MMOrpg.com.

People are bias I can say without a doubt MMORPG.com mods are just as bias. Apperently one of the mods was a huge fanboy of one of the games and I guess he read my post (It wasnt directed at him), but I got a warning for calling a guy a rabid fanboy (come on now anyone can see 100's of posts a day calling people fanboys and trolls), I then proceeded to pick apart his post. I have said alot worse things on many occasions but I guess I struck a nerve with a mod. Point is more mods are not the answer, finding unbias ones would be an epic task. Ill be honest I couldnt do it because blantantly stupid posts just pisses me off. There was a dude saying CO had millions of subs and was the wow killer (yes this was where i got the warning). I personally dont like wow, but damn its amazing how stupid people get through the day. Specifically posts like that are just inviting the "troll" posts in anyways. Trolls get a bad name, but fanboys deserves equal attention when they make threads like that. Its like throwing chum in the ocean, its done to attract sharks. You make a flame bait thread your going to get people to bite. So if your ban trolls you need to ban fanboys also.

 Dear OP,

I challenge you to go without mmorpg.com for one month and see how you feel. Matter of fact, make that all gaming information  websites in general. Because that all mmorpg.com offers you: information. Do with it as you will.

No one is telling you to follow this site as law. It's mostly based on opinion.

No one is telling you what game to play and how to play it. It's an open forum to express you own opinion, which is exactly what your doing here. That's totally fine, you are entitled to it, but I am giving you my opinion on how you are incorrect with yours. Take it as you will.

No one has ever asked me for money to use this site. It's free but not the only one on the block. Others have services that require fees, this even offers you a free blog.

If the average person comes on this site and believes everything he reads here 1) he is probably new to "the game" and is 2) a little naive. Both are normal, we all started out the same place. But at no point did I say, "damn mmorpg, you made playing video games bad for me." In alot of ways it has actually SAVED me money and also enabled me to find games I would of never even heard of before.

I have one motto when it comes to any information or news I see and hear, "Take what I want and leave the rest." If I feel that a source is incorrect more than correct, I make a decision if I want to continue using it or not. It's that simple.

Maybe if you are unhappy with mmorpg.com then you might be unhappy with games in general, which is a much bigger issue.

You should call Dr. Phil for that one.

Good luck in your gaming,

I usually ignore the troll and critical posts. I look for how many and how raving the good posts are. If a game doesn't have many good posts I look to see why. I don't necessarily believe the good posts, just look for the quantity. I also see what type of player is posting the good posts, pvp, pve, crafter, etc. This gives me a very good idea if I'll like the game.

What MMORPG.com needs are moderators that let people fight their own fights, and can tell what is dry humor/sarcasm. Too many mods crack down on opinionated posts when they really should just butt out and let the threads play out.

I have often responded to trolls and ignorant posts only to get a warning and even a ban. This is the internet, people learn quickly how to defend themselves or not post drivel. We don't need to be babysat and have our feelings protected.

anyway that my 2c.

While I used to just buy a game if it looked fun and play it, I now spend weeks researching every single game and engraining all of these shitty reviews and first impressions into my brain.

Its a love hate relationship. Ive come too far to stop using the site now. Im pretty much addicted to it haha. But sometimes I just wish I was an innocent gamer again that wasnt subjected to all the garbage I have to read on here (from posters not site admin)

I guess these forums have just made me too serious about games. Hell Id probably still be playing WoW and having a good time if It werent for these forums, which honestly would be better than not being able to enjoy any game at all.

No, always have to take forums with a grain of salt.  Certainly aren't useless by any means and they help me pass the time at work.  Hell, sometimes they even give out some good info thanks to a poster.

Overall though I use them more to pass the time at work.  It's more bullshit than anything else at times on these forums but then again that's how it is on most forums.  No better or worse here.  I don't come here for validations, advice, or to take what people say here to heart.

I can relate to you on this. I have a feeling a lot of folks experience this same thing. The important thing to remember is that if it didn't bother before you knew about it, then why should it bother you after reading about it?

You gotta make a stand and enjoy your game, regardless of what anyone says.

I use this site as well as others to pass time during work hours, and it works quite well.  If you let forums bother your ingame experience, you should stop reading them.  It's that simple.  Forum talk can change your perspective ingame, it can change your mind about a game, it can affect how you think about a game.  It's pack mentality, you feel emboldened to think one way when there are others that think the same way.

If you take this site/forum too seriously, then you should stop reading it imo, and get back to enjoy playing games.

Its a love hate relationship with this site. There is alot of useful info that you really cant find anywhere else and you just have separate the BS from the actual posts that contribute to various topics.

(AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!! Fires a plunger at a moderater that is looking at this post)

Well the problem is not having a few troll post or flame wars... The problem to me is that at least half of mmorpg.com thread are trolls or flame wars.

Moderation is tough, no question, and the more severe you are, the more people you tend to drive away... As someone pointed, page visits are essential to ad pricing, so it is essential to keeping the site free... What a conundrum, eh?
