Due to various commitments for my regular MMO group, I will be without regular gaming buddies for three months. World of Warcraft was in my view the best MMO of the 40 or so MMOs I have tried for the solo experience since it allowed for easy Multi-boxing.

Is this still as easy as before or have they placed restrictions or changed the functionality you had available to you in their Macro language?

I don't use Add-ons so if they are needed now I won't bother.

As easy as before, as long as you can run the number of clients you want to (and can pay for the accounts) - depending on when you did it last the specs might have gone up a little. No AddOns needed. Check dual-boxing.com for all the info you need.

why would you multi-box wow???

I can understand why you'd do it in a game like everquest... but, wow?

Could the game be any easier? Hardly - only if it played itself....

Thanks Dramagram. I'm doing it bareback, one PC with a setup that enables me to specify which cores to which programs and simple keypress forwarding.

And as to why WoW and not another game, because WoW is centered around Instances and PvE and the content in that department is plentiful and pretty fun to do. Multiboxing makes it possible to do solo or with a single friend.

City of Heroes was also fun to multi-box although it was a bit harder to get setup correctly, in WoW the whole interface is designed so it makes multiboxing the obvious gaming method.

I confess, WOW is the last game I would ever consider multi boxing in, it just isn't necessary.

Personally, I did it for pure fun. Isn't that why we all play games, after all? :-)

Figuring out how to optimize macros, arrange the group, spec for not keeping an eye on procs, etc. for 5 different classes (5 identical Shamans is boring!) was quite interesting. And doing all that by yourself is harder than having 5 good players control one character each.

I didn't keep it up though, as Wrath of the Lich King came out and I went back to focus on my main characters. Might return to the multi-boxing if I get a bit bored before Cataclysm.

So you will pay for multiple accounts and multibox just for fun ? Well I think that everyone who is multiboxing tries to make some real cash from it like selling glods, accounts and thats illegal

I typically run two accounts in all the games I play...trade between characters is easier, I am an alt-o-holic, if no one is around I can run myself through stuff, more storage, can do all the trade crafts, I can have a friend over and let them play one account....

I can kinda see this point plus the person that talked about trading so dual boxing seems feasable although 2 accounts just to trade... doesn't seem worth it.

multi boxing like in EQ where I know people who have 5 boxed it - I just don't see how it would be possible in wow and it certainly wouldn't be fun.

The person who commented that it may be for illegal activities such as selling accounts - that seems to be the only reason to even consider doing such a thing... shame shame...

it floors me that someone would buy a wow account considering how amazing easy everything is in the game from leveling to end game...

To the couple of people who came in the thread to take little potshots at WoW, and the OP for "wanting to multibox such an easy game"......................troll much?

To the OP, as far as I am aware, very little has changed as far as functionality. I quit WoW myself , but not all that long ago, and I multiboxed with RaF.

Personally, I think anyone that Doesn't multibox is doing it to hide the fact that THEY are in fact gold farmers. cwutididthere? Anyone can throw around nonsensical accusations.

That said, it makes TONS of sense to multibox in WoW with raf.

You can either agree with me or be wrong!

You can't see how it's possible? Multiboxing is a live and well in WoW. a group of shamans and the like etc.

Here, a good example of what you can multi these days:

Multiboxing has grown immensely in the last few years, they can do a lot with it now.

Not something I agree with personally, and yeah probably some who do it do it to sell accounts.

@ OP, multiboxing is fine as long as you control all the characters, but also more importantly, they all *need* to be your accounts. You are not allowed to multi your friends accounts. In case that was your plan :)
