jesus... is it so hard to block the spammers? at all occations I have seen gold spamming there has never been more than a total of 3 spammers at any given time.
so 3 blocks less than a day, and that is enough for you to not enjoy the game? weak...

The point is why should it be on the player to do this when the company should be taking more agressive measures against it? Do you understand how much of a bad thing it is for a brand new player to log into the game and his/her entire window is filled with spam immedietely? |

Tell me what you think a newb should think when he sees this the first 3 times he logs into the game? YOU may think it isn't a big deal, but honestly, to many it IS a big deal. Having to go through the initial chat lag, and filter through blocking 2-4 people every time you log in IS an annoyance. And it won't go away, because this game is not WAR where money meant nothing. This has become L2 (lite) and the economy will begin to reflect that in a few months. It won't matter to those who are already at level cap, but then it will matter to any newbs who enter the game later. Sadly, many people like me have left an otherwise decent game because the gold selling is rampant. Yeah, that's not my only reason, but it is one issue that makes the decision easier. |

What's more pathetic is that the fanboi namecallers don't realize how bad it makes their game look. They are too busy "enjoying" the game allegedly. Well, that's because they got to start during head start when the spam was minimal (yes I was there) and chat was actually decent. Now they are in their legion and groups and never have global chat even on. What they don't think about is the annoyance that it is to others and how this is going to effect gameplay in the future when gold farming has turned the economy into L2. |

I kind of agree with both points. Logging in to have to block 3-4 spammers straight away is annoying but not to the extent that it spoils my game experience and to be honest it is far less of an issue than it was for me when WOW and LOTRO launched. I also agree that NCsoft should have better spammer protection and I am sure this will appear in future patches alongside, hopefully, a decent general chat tab rather than the LFG tab that everyone currently uses. I can see how this gets on peoples nerve but if this is the sole reason you quit the game i'd be surprised and a little disappointed.

3-5 blocks per day = 21 - 35 blocks per week = 87 - 155 blocks per month PER SERVER 32 NA, Oceanic & European Servers means that every day, between 96 and 160 characters per faction are created solely for the purpose of spamming gold. Which means there are also an unknown number of characters being created and leveled to farm gold. And you can honestly say that blocking 3 avatars is a non-issue? |

When ncsoft will figure out what other anti hack program will they use (hopefully some custom build by them) there will be less spam/bots probably. |

I will say this though, i have not gotten the hellish whispers i used to get from gold spammers like i did in the early start of Aion. So far on my faction side of the server the gold spam has been cut down somewhat but still get 3-5 gold spammers a day that i have to block. Currently playing: Aion Played: L2 RFO EvE R.O.S.E EQ2 HellGate:London TRIBES2 WOW WarHammer |

You know, its interesting, when I first logged into Aion yesterday, I had to play the usual mini-game and ban 3-4 spammers, but for the rest of the day, even when I logged back in during the evening I only got one gold spamming whisper and saw nothing in the LFG channel. Was probably the first day that's ever happened.

For the fanboys that insist that it isn't a big deal... It is a big deal when someone like me (a potential fanboy) gets annoyed with the spammers and decides to log into a different game for the rest of the day (which I did). For the overthetoppers (haters doesn't really work with fans of the game but not the spam) who make it sound like the sky is falling it's not as bad as you make it sound. Although those pics do make a good argument lol. I had been waiting on this game since I heard about it prob about 2-3 yrs and I plan on enjoying it. However, if I got to block spammers every time I log in that is enough to push me away. I'll give it a couple months but after that I'll leave and go play other games I enjoy where I don't have to worry about this. |

Ive been out of work so luckily I got alot of ass time with Aion the past few weeks, and I am noticing a difference in the amount of spammers I got to block and how often I got to do it. they released an announcement that said they were banning thousands of accounts a day (not too sure how true that is) and that they monitor who is blocked and that helps them in doing the mass bans. They also announced that all these bannings are temporary until a more viable permanent solution becomes available. Not sure if I believe all that, but I'll give them the benifit of the doubt, cause this is their new flagship, and I think they realize what a negative influence a bad economy is to a games longevity and player retention. I do know NCSofts history, and I know they are suppose to be one of the biggest multinational gaming comapnies...whatever, if they want to play with the big boys in the NA/EU they need to nip this in the bud quick, cause while its a business for people in korea, we could really care less, and the people who want to buy kinah are not gonna pay attention to gold spammers, they are gonna go google "cheapest Kinah Aion" Thats what always suprises me about the spammers, they could save so much money in banned accounts if they just focused on getting money to sell, cause the people who want the in game money, will find it. |

That's your response? "tardo math"? Are you missing the comprehension brain cell you had in first grade now? Comprehend: I was in pre-launch and got to understand the game. I understand how to block the spammers. I too can spend less than a minute to block all the spammers for my time online for roughly the next 12-24 hours. But why do you fail to understand that this is bad for the game? IT IS NOT that I have to block them. It is that they persist. And persist. And persist. If it continues, the RMT business is going to be ingrained in the game. My opinion is that an entrenched RMT economy is very bad for any game, not just Aion. I feel it is particularly bad for games with pvp endgame. |

I think from an Aion player perspective, the bigger problem is that your playerbase/community will not grow at all when new players are quitting in droves because they can't get past the wall of spam on initial login. Maybe some of you want that, a small dedicated playerbase. All I know is for months on end all we heard was noise about how Aion was all that and it's going give WoW a run for it's money and NCSoft saying they want to be #2 in NA. It's amazing how standards change once the game goes live and the honeymoon period is over.
It's been said before, but if players can make addon's for WoW that automatically block spam in the channels, why is it that NCSoft can't do the same? |

To be fair, the modding community responded a lot faster than the Blizzard developers, regarding gold spamming of channels and whispering. It took Blizzard months to implement their own system rendering that addon obsolete. |

That's true with any type of addon. Blizzard incorporated alot of things that addon authors had done after the fact. The problem for Aion is NCSoft doesn't allow addon's (as far as I know). |

for what it's worth....the other day i blocked 13 gold spammers within a 7 hour period. some days are worse than others it seems but i don't think 3 or 4 per day is an accurate estimate anymore. ![]() |
