Game info: http://dawntide.net/info.html Dawntide is an innovative new freeform MMOG being developed by Working as Intended, an independent studio based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Dawntide is in the Beta 2 phase of development and we are accepting tester applications at our Beta Center. Dawntide is designed with one main thought in mind: People play games with different motivations, and want different things out of the games they play. As a consequence, the market for games has developed in a very modularized way: there are games that let you turn your mind off and relax, games that provide different kinds of challenges, games that focus on socialization. Dawntide incorporates all these elements into a game focused around a world in which the players are the driving element and the builders of a new civilization. Beta Sign Up: http://dawntide.net/beta.html The game also uses the same engine as OBLIVION / Fallout 3 and seems to focus on 'realism'. - but remember it is in beta.
"From constructing ships and cities to creating a trade empire or fighting in, or perhaps even leading your own army, Dawntide’s features and world provide a large number of opportunities and ways to play an MMO.
Above all, Dawntide is developed with a clear vision of making a fun and enjoyable game. We are committed to making every activity in the game something you primarily do because it is inherently fun and enjoyable, not because you may get a carrot for doing it in the end. People do not play games to endure tedium, they play games to be entertained, and MMORPGs are no exception."

I'm in the beta for this game and it's pretty fun. Another thing to note though, is that there is no NDA, so any info you want about it can be obtained. |

??? I'll never understand some people. The graphics look great. I think you should actually look at some graphics from N64 before you make such ridiculous comments:
Major difference. And the Dawntide picture is obviously low-res.
Also, thanks for the heads up OP, I just signed up for beta. Looks pretty nifty. :)

Walkthrough Video - some of the world: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLm4poHqjY0&NR=1 I warn you though, combat currently looks very slow and terrible at this stage... at least from the video that I saw. ![]() Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? I'll be signing up for the beta :) thanks for the info. |

They need to add more bushes/flowers and maybe some holes, ecc in the maps they are far too empty and similar. Graphic wise it's not bad but it seems characters are less graphically appealing then the world they are in and like you said combat is sloooooooooooooow. |

Just watched a couple of videos on YouTube. I like what I saw so far, except the skinning process. I would not want to have windowsand inventory poping out everytime I want to skin. It just breaks immersion. I will keep checking out this game though. |

Actually,, the graphics remind me of DAOC, but as mentioned, these are beta shots. Always good to see another sandbox game being developed, and while I don't do betas, I'll keep my eyes out for it. Any suggested release date? 2010? 2011?

I think everything looks great and that you are moving in an innovative and very much needed direction. A question though- Free or Pay to Play? Personally I will not get myself attached to a F2P game- It seems to be the direction of the industry but a VERY BAD DIRECTION for a plethora of reasons I shall not list here (for all our sake's)- If you plan on running via subscription I would love to look further into this. Anyhow- looks very good and sandbox games are the best experience in gaming (IMO) if done right and able to sustain enough population for a viable economy to take hold- I commend the effort. |

This game sounds incredible; realism, exploration, world bosses, city building, living NPC settlements, meaningful PvP, complex social and cultural structure. Though it sounds good on paper, and indy or no, I think these guys have the right vision. If nothing else it sure sounds like a breath of fresh air for a suffocating genre. Best wishes. |

I've had some experience with the Dawntide beta, and unless the game has drastically improved in the last couple of months, it's nowhere near what I would consider a playable state. Dont' sign up for this thinking you'll be bugtesting a near finished product. You're really more like an alpha tester, doing a lot of the dirty work for the development team because they're too small to test all the areas themselves.
All that said, unless they plan on adding some decent animations and some actual life within the game world, this really feels like a cheap indy game (which I guess it is). |

Yup- Graphics are the last thing I look for (except in FPS games). I have found the most complex, deepest and best games were either MUD's or Rougelikes. I think Graphics as a focus is what has allowed Game Publishers to give us dumbed down drivel packaged as "Next Gen" |

Like super said the beta is actually alpha and alot of features are not implemented yet only the real core mechanics like basic combat, walking around, basic animations and things like those are in at the moment. Although i think this game has alot of potential we'll see how it goes. |
