I am a templar and I have gotten 2 guys so far who rolled dice for blue items which are not even fit to them.
The first blue sword stolen was dropped in Training camp and second one is shield in fire temple.
I am ******* tired of these people. Even though we already talked about this, they responded with "yes", but when the situation came over they actually Dice and Obtain and just ******** Leave and block my account not to get a message from me.
As it is 3rd times occured to me, I am seriously thinking of quitting this game or finding a way to report them.
any method? one of their ID was Dover..something in Ariel server, 28(?) gladiator. |

Every game has loot ninjas, that's just how it is. The only thing you can do is not group with them again and tell the people in your legion to watch out for them. If everyone that they ninja from does that, eventually no one will group with them
Problem solved. |

Im afraid that even if it is morally wrong, there is not any rule on any online game that prohibits to roll for an item, even if it is not used by the class that rolled. I had the exact same problem one or 2 times in wow and contacted a GM who told me that there was nothing they could do about it, its part of being online, we must know we are dealing with all kind of ppl, and many of them are just like that.

Nature of the beast when dealing with pugs. Best bet is either simply grouping with guildies or some you know you can trust to only roll on what they'll use or are cool with giving to someone that can use it if they're one of those psycho rollers that simply rolls on everything. No gm in any game is going to give you the item because you ended up with a greedy prick in your group. If it's one just kick him if you set the rules and he still insists on rolling and remember to never group with him again. I feel your pain because it's happened to me too but like I said that is part of what you deal with if you pug something. On a bright note, you're a templar so later on you may find them in desparate need of a tank and you can always inform them of when they screwed you over and tell them to stick it. |

welcome to online gaming, more mmog's you play the more greedy tools you'll meet also, all pick up groups have 1 or 2 stick standard, otherwise it wouldnt be a proper pug :) |

Just the nature of today's games these days. Back in early DAOC this never would have occurred, and I first ran into the issue in a big way in WOW. Yeah, WoW, for me, was where it first seemed to become the standard practice among some although I do remember one occasion in EQ where it happened but that's probably why it stood out so much because of how haywire everyone went and I believe it was the only time I saw it occur in that game. Seems to be getting worse too. |

Dude, your hearts in the right place however noone is going to care. Just call the guys out on your server in general chat... But beware because you will get some backlash from the trolls... Honestly, just take the lesson for what it is and remember it for next time. |

Not a good idea. That tends to be frowned upon because it's easy to try and blacklist someone simply because you don't like them so you'll just end up getting grief yourself. Like I said, just grin and bear it and try to get with a set group of people you can count on to do group content or get yourself in a legion if you aren't in one to have people to party with. Then if it happens and you think you've been screwed you have more options to use although one would hope among guildies everyone can simply behave and just have fun. |

This is what happens when you play games that are loot based gear grinds. As much as I would like to say it is the player's fault for taking it, it is just as much if not more of, the developer's fault for basing the game in this manner. Whenever you institute a system that rewards players for the amount of gear they can take and use, you precipitate and encourage such behavior. Either get used to it, or move to a different style of game. Maligar Kelison |

Honestly, why do people complain of such things? You think there is something wrong with looting gear that you can roll on? If I wasn't suppose to be able to roll on it, it wouldn't allow it. The fact is, is that this is a loot system that is designed to cause in game politics so that there is emotion, other wise it would be like tic tac toe. Having this type of discussion is exactly why its like that. It brings to light the importance of team work, friendships and legions. The korean designers talk about these things in interviews. Colorful pixels arranged in the shape of barbiedoll clothes causes so much grief, go figure! Grow up already!

Nowadays I use to ask the Group Leader if he can put on so that he decides who gets to loot what at the time the loot is about to drop. I rather trust ONE person than FIVE

Kill 1 in peace time and you are a murderer, kill 100 in war time and you are an hero! |
WAR has a better system, Need before Greed works fine by taking priority when choosing items.. NEED can only be chosen by the classes able to wear/use the item. Still.. if everyone was polite and respectful of everyones class thaere wouldnt be any need for this..

This is by far your best option - before any boss fight always request your group leader change the loot to master. If anyone in your group has a problem with that, you find out who they are before they can steal the drops. |

morally wrong yea...except for the whole every character on a server shares a vault type thing, so maybe they were putting it in their vaults for their other chars? |

Possible, but its the whole 'spent the time, did the work' issue that's the core of it. If I'm the one who spent 2 hours tanking the place, and have the 100k soul heal bill to look forward to, I sure don't want the sorc taking the shield drop I could have used for his level 4 soon to be templar. If it's for his like level templar, then maybe he should have been on it tanking the place instead of me. |

I think part of the issue is these are BoEs and many people are accustomed to BoEs being up for grabs. Though, everything I've seen so far from drops has been a BoE. Is there even BoPs later on? I do agree with you that the person playing the class that the item is useful for should have first priority. Really, the only thing you can do to prevent ninjas is just try to be up front at the start of the dungeon what the loot rules are, and if someone still breaks the rules, blacklist him and inform your friends/guild of the ninja. Also, contact the ninja's guild leader. Also, the game really needs a "greed" option on rolling. |

i think it may be a issue as well when you look at the fact that instances are on a lockout timer and the fact that according to the reviewer on this website things rarely drop bosses and if i had to go into an instance over and over waiting that time each time just to have someone gank it once i do seems stupid |

Its more dumb to keep going in an instance over and over again if you don't enjoy doing it. Playing: |

Always make the group your self so you can set the loot options. The AION community is one of the worst I have ever seen in any game and every group I have been in you see mages rolling for plate armor and templars rolling for cloth armor even after asked not to so it is a usual thing for AION and I do not see it changing.
Half of the players are gold farmers anyway and just roll for the stuff so they can sell it for more gold to sell. The game is an unplayable garbage bag anyway, might as well move on to something else and forget about it. |

Originally posted by EduardoASG Those days are over I'm afraid, MMORPG's now attract the lowest common denominator and there is no honor among thieves. Heck, most of the time they don't even realize what they do is wrong, they think they are justified because the game permits it. They should realize that its really a test of their moral character and all too often, they fail. We live in a fallen world. But what the heck, its only a game and like others said, the less you PUG, the less you'll set yourself up for disappointment.
