If PlanetSide 2 is ever developed (like this rumor), what would you prefer? True MMOFPS or a blend like Tabula Rasa?

MMOFPS, obviously.

Not that I don't want to see more games like TR produced (I missed out on TR and was genuinely interested in trying it.)  It's just that a game with massive epic warfare is a higher priority ;)

  • No PVE.
  • Large variety of weapons/vehicles/armors, which counter each other.
  • Lateral progression system.
  • 3-faction Territorial Control, with benefits for capturing each base type.

And improve these things over the original game:

  • Possibly a new universe (I liked PS's universe alright, but I think a WW2 or Modern War atmosphere appeals to more people.  Then again, sci-fi is still really damn rare among MMOs so sticking with that theme may well work out.)
  • Tighter FPS look/feel.  This was one of the shaky points of the original.
  • More varied bases.  This was one of the worst parts of the original.

I may be sorta harsh on EVE, but damn is this a cool trailer (EVE Dominion).

They should keep true to the original game and try to improve it with better graphics and smother gameplay.

  • I liked the Sci-fi, but i wouldnt mind playing a modern combat one.  I think the WW2 shooter genre is kinda overkill, so many games are based in WW2.
  • I AGREE!! That always bugged me, i mean they had cone of fire, but thats about it.  Also i dont like the 10+ shots it takes to kill someone with ranged guns (Gauss anyone?).
  • Yeah, so true, u can only hack the same style base before it just gets old....

Other things I would love to see

  • Completely urban maps (more dense than open fields).  Not like cavern urban either.  Cities etc with cap points.
  • Smoother vehicle movements.
  • Destructible enviroments??  If possible
  • Team fortress 2 medic system lol.
  • Specialization armor.  Ex.  Medic will look like a medic, Engineer will look like a engineer.  Depending on certs maybe?
  • Sea combat and the ability to swim!!!

Idk just some ideas, cant think of anything else really

World of Warcraft came out in 2004....stop talking about it already.

Well you can't really have fewer shots-to-kill without ruining the combat.  Skill should be important.  Getting the first shot is part of skill, but shouldn't be the only skill a game rewards.  Maintaining a good CoF while under fire was one of the parts that made PS's gameplay solid and enjoyable.

If you play 1v1 basketball with a friend, you play to 30 points or something.  You typically don't play to "whoever gets the first basket wins."   Same deal in Planetside (especially since losing means respawning, which can be 1-5 minutes of non-action, which isn't that fun.)

I'm not big on TF2's medic, mostly because you're utterly locked to healing while playing them.  RTCW's toss-medpacks lets you toss some stuff out then go back to playing the game with the rest of your team.  Also you can have a HOT-gun that gives a regeneration effect to a teammate, and that accomplishes a similar thing (lets you be part of combat if you want to heal teammates but don't want to do it 24/7.)

I may be sorta harsh on EVE, but damn is this a cool trailer (EVE Dominion).
