easy question

Intel- Go with a core i5 or i7 setup (do youre research on both cpu's but in your price point tht is a perfect fit)

Mobo- can't go wrong with an asus or foxconn product althugh i hear evega is good aswell

Vid Card- Im an ATI fan but you may not be, but if you want something that will run any game out there a 1gb 4870 from ati will do the trick or spend the $350 and get the 5870. Nvidia is coming out with new cards soon so maybe wait and see what they bring to the market

For example I built my new rig in april my specs are

intel core i7-920

Foxconn Bloodrage motherboard

2x ati 4850 (had one in my old comp bought another an crossfired them)

6 gigs of Gskill ram

antec 900 case

24" lcd monitor

1.5 TB western digital HDD

DVD burner

this rig ran me about 1500 bucks total but i also purchased things when they went on sale so you may have to do some shopping around!

Use  xtremesystems.com for any tech questions you might have they are very very helpful over there

Hope this helped

The prices on DDR3 ram machnes will drop for xmas season its allready started. You will be able to get a smoking machine for about a grand soon as I told someone else Black friday cometh. A good site to watch is www.dealnews.com it covers allmost all the internet sales of computers sites. I personally use AMD and nvidia I love the nvidia ease of drivers updates at the site. and usually just a bit cheaper for AMD CPUs. Good luck with your research

Limitations are for people that have them and excuses are for people that need them.

I built my machine about 5 or so months ago...and LOVE it.

i'll let you look it all up if you want....

Thermaltake M9 case

coolermaster v8

4 x 120mm blue led Thermaltake fans (push 90cfm and come with speed controllers)

ASUS P6T  Motherboard

12gb of Kingston HyperX ddr3 1600mhz

PowerColor ati 4890 fct. OC'd to 950/1050

OCZ XStream 800w w/ single 62amp rail

seagate barracuda 250gb HD

LG lightscribe drive.

it was not even NEAR 2 grand

shoot me an email and I'd be glad to help with your build, or build you one on newegg and email you the wishlist.

I thought about building you a boat to survive the river of tears I'm crying for you, but the world's smallest violins just aren't a reliable source of lumber, and that cross you're nailing yourself to seems bouyant enough anyways.

check out cyberpowerpc.com if you wanna choose your own parts and have them put it together.i built a great core i7 system early this year and can run any game out there on max pretty much with a ton of upgradability. a 2k budget is more then enough.research a lot first though if you're ganna spend all that money.
