Regarding the recent bannings

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Good morning/day folks,

A couple of threads on this topic appeared during the night and rather than replying to each one of them I thought I'd create a new one.

We have, as you know, recently banned a large number of users for violating our User Agreement. If you found yourself unable to log in after the night, that would be the reason.

If you are 100% sure you have not been involved with any activity that would violate our User Agreement (this would also include anything related to RMT), then we suggest contacting our Customer Support team at Support | NCsoft who will be able to look into your case.

We understand that the timing is very inconvenient and will make sure that inquiries on this matter are made top priority. Our GMs will be working through the weekend to sort this out as quickly as possible.

Fine ill admit it maybe they did banned 1% legit players.

But to those who got banned and say you did nothing wrong, your a lying piece of crap and you know what you did to get banned.

Do you know how many federal prisoners say they did nothing wrong ?????

You probably did it and come to this forum and cry about how you were innocently banned. Even if you are9 which i doubt your innocent) bring it to ncsoft.

Also this mass banning includes peopel who purchased gold, and there were large guilds banned as well.

SUPRISE SUPRISE HUH???

Ever wonder how they had so much gold to level their guild to level 3 around level 30's??

we got our answer to that question dont we?

if people bought stuff from the auction with kinah they bought, the seller of the auction got banned too., cause you where involved with illegal kinah , eventhough it wanst your fault. This were way more then 1%. ncsoft admitted it aswell, and those people will be unbanned if they fill out a ticket about it.

And dear Furor, get all the facts straight before you start ranting yet again like a nubbie.

Have to give them credit though for trying to take an active role in improving the game experience and stoping everything that is being done against their user agreements. Seems like though with a lot of things in the world they are damned if they do and damned if they don't. If they ban everyone that did somethign wrong everyone complains that they are innocent even if they are not. Then if they don't do anything people complain that they are not doing anything to solve any of the issues with the game.

To me the players shouldn't be looking at NCsoft to blame, and instead should be looking at the other players that ruin the game for everyone.

Well,i know one person that got banned(my wife),and i can promise you she did nothing wrong or illegal. Her account was hacked ,and stolen the other day.Now the culprits probably done god knows what while they had the account, but she got it back day before yesterday ,and  was still working with ncsoft/aion to get her chars items back. Now her account is banned.Needless to say she contacted support again by email, and is waiting to hear back from them.

level 3 guild was only 1.2 mil, my guild we all just pitched in for it, at 30 i had 835,000. i grind alot in the abyss the junk sells very well and the white junk weapons sell for like 30k, hell i sold a green staff to a vendor for 187,000

but i really do hope they banned the buyers as well, they're more to blame than the farmers, without them there would be no farmers at all.

Her account was not hacked. She either had a trivial password or she mistakenly gave the password to some other site.  At this point she bears the responsibility.

In case you do have a wife ... which may not be true in the first place ... frankly no sob story is believable on the internets.

Anythings possible. Accounts get stolen all the time. Good luck on getting your account reestablished. It's funny though, everyone complained about the whole Game Guard issue, then NCsoft gets rid of it and this happens. We wanted game Guard gone so this is what we get. I was telling my brother just prior to release that the removal of gameguard from the release was a huge cluster*uck. damned if they do and damned if they dont. Well, in this case NCsoft was damned if they do.

WOW.. i'm glad Glofish is such a freakin genius or we'd all be screwed. You da man ... yup you da man... pffffttttt .

oh, ok.  I get it now.  She was one of those people who gave away their account info to Asian gold farmers.  Yeah, thats on her.  How grown people fall for that is beyond me.  I would expect any gamer to know better then to fall for any phishing scam.  heck, the game logs you out and into their official website -- dont get any easier then that to end up at the legit AION site.

Gameguard would not have prevented this. Look at L2 as someone else pointed out. For some reason they are drawn to NC Soft like a fly to cow shit. Shame I like L2 very much but the botters post level 60 got to be way to painful to try and play around anymore. Its the perceived grind that causes some of it.

Since you bring about the "federal prisoners" analogy, think about this, many federal prisoners are wrongly accused with faulty "proof" and most federal prisoners are in prison for breaking unconstitutional regulations.. so I think you should use a better analogy..

Pretty clear the fanbois are still stuck in the starter zones, or love grinding 20 hours a day from moms basement.

a 40 year old who trolls a forum of a game he doesn't even play talking about moms basement.

The irony just overwhelming.

as stupid as it sounds the guy has a point.

if game wasnt such asian grindfest there wouldnt be so many goldfarmers.

also if things like these happen... you can only blame ncsoft.

Yours is not the path of force, though force is often needed to clear the path.

NC should do some more research before banning people, sounds like they can't even inspect their own game, sad really.

HI!

10/11/09 12:38:45 PM#20

It's NCsoft, they are a garbage company with garbage Asian games.  I actually predicted crap like this before the game was even released here.  The only good thing NCsoft has ever done was Guild Wars...oh wait that was ArenaNet, NCsoft just funded it.

It's funny because the recent bans didn't even alleviate the current problem of the spammers and bot users.  As a matter of fact its been increasing and still is.  I see more bots today than I did last week, I'm having to block more spammers today than I did last week.

Asian games should probably stay in Asia.

Check this out, a guy who has no intention of renewing his account has set-up a bot and is getting people to report him to see how long it lasts. It will be interesting to see the outcome of this.

He is currently on day 2 of botting. with no ban or warning:

The humorous part about all this is there are plenty of games out here banning gold farmers correctly. FFXI did it just fine.

If they are going to blindly ban people by just assuming anyone that gives people money via mail or other legit ways of transfering money to friends... well that doesn't say much about how much actually thought they might put in the game in the future.

Sad really. Good luck to you all who lost your accounts unfairly. Serves you right to those who bought the gold or farmed it, your contributing to the downfall of a game, goodjob!

O RLY? Well, I for one hope they don't ban his bot... becuase then it will prove what i had thought all along. And... higher actions can then be taken on the customers part.

GameGuard is an anti-CHEATING and anti-BOTTING software, NOT an anti-hacking software - and it didn't even work at that! All you had to do to bypass GameGuard was set up a mini server (with the appropriate files which you could download straight off nProtect's site, no encryption or authentication needed) and redirect all traffic going to nProtect's update page to prevent the program from updating properly.

Seriously, if you can't even figure out what a program is for when its own site (falsely) advertises how good it is at preventing cheating then I doubt you'll even recognize a keylogger when it slaps you in the face.
