This system is as fluid as it gets, auto attackers will always loose if you can use the following to your advantage.

Forward: +10% Physical Damage +10% Magic Damage, -20% Physical Defense -20% Magic Defense
Backward: +500 to Parry +500 to Block, -70% Physical Damage -40% Movement Speed
Strafe: +300 to Evasion, -70% Physical Damage -20% Movement Speed

Yes Aion IS Different & Unique.

In which situation do you use those?  The moving forwards modifier does not seem beneficial (for melee characters) if you're being hit. Also don't (non-instant casting) magical skills require you to stand still to cast?

I find the numbers on the walking backwards modifier hard to believe. Wouldn't those numbers turn any class into a tank?

For an assassin for example you use the forward "buff" for the back attack or using you DP skill, moving backwards when you need some seconds for cooldowns or something, moving sideways apart of the "buff" makes it harder for your enemy to hit you well.

No, Vanguard did it first I believe. It's all fuzzy now, but I'm sure one of the failed mmos I tried had the fwd/back buffage. How does one use those techniques in Aion? When I push forward I just move forward. I'm not seeing any buffs.

You should see an arrow "^ > < v" that states which "buff" is currently on.

Open up your profile and you'll see + and - next to your stats as well as the on screen < > etc. Vanguard did not apply these by default nor did AoC your had to do stupid jumps and crap to make them work - plus both games had hack that allowed infinite health no such thing in Aion. And the simple fact this system work in a full 360 degree spherical mode of flight.

Casting spells - some are static but most can be cast on the move.

Cool thanks, I see them!  I don't see how they are of any use in toe to toe combat, but there they are.

Not really noticeable to you guys, because NA/EU servers don't have many top end gears, nor alot of lvl50 players yet.

Try hitting a lvl45-lvl50 assassin with full +15 evasion mana stone build at roughly +1800 evasion strafing all day...  It will drive you nuts.

Or be stuck with bind in the air CC and take a forward bonus+critical bonus+back stab bonus hit from an assassin's backstab skill...

You'll understand just how much these WASD movement buffs do in end game PvP.

GRIND sucks? You wanna be max level in a month?
