Just a quick epilogue:

Allvatar.com made an interview with one half of the first 50s - duo, namely Almisaela:

AION: Interview mit Almisaela | Co-Erster Level 50 Spieler in Europa und Nordamerika | News | allvatar.com

For those of you who do not understand German, here are the key facts:

- They didn't do quests, they just grinded.

- They played a minimum of 15 hours a day.

- best way to grind is having a hunter kite elites with low hp, but high melee burst attacks - they die faster than other elites.

- from lv49 to 50, 47 hours of non-stop grinding are needed, given you don't die at all and play at maximum xp/hour.

- from lv45 onwards, dying just once costs you about 2 hours of non-recoverable grinding XP.

- they didn't bot, bots can't kite elites, so botting would've been way to slow to become the first 50s.

- he assumes most people who are currently playing AION will never reach lv50.

and the best fact at the end:

He'll never ever again play a character to lv50 in AION.

this is an interview with the european level first level 50 for european AION, enjoy the read.

Interesting read.

No wonder he won't play another toon to 50.  Who the heck would after grinding all those levels in that amount of time!

No offense to the guy but.... I personally wouldnt call what he did "play."  To me, IMO, what he did was silly and a waste of time.  If you get to lvl 50 and for the most part enjoyed your journey, then great.  If you grind to lvl 50 like some obsessed schoolboy with no life, then I for one am not impressed.  Not at all.

They skip quests so they cut down the downtime of running to and fro from NPC to other places. Filling up those time with grinding for exp but its a mind numbing task.

But seriously, being the first in something in MMO is a joke.

Furthermore... if you spent that much time grinding over and over and not even really enjoying the game - of course he wouldn't want to level yet another char... how retarded do you have to be?

this is why people who rush to end game is just fail... and on top of that, the game doesn't start at level 50 like "some" games do.. so, if Im enjoying my time, adventuring, questing, grouping, killing mobs with my friends, why does it matter if it takes a few months to get to max level? I don't even really care if I am stuck on 49 for some time because frankly... does it really matter? No... I enjoy the game for what it is... the PROBLEM is so many people who THINK the game only starts at max level....

Whilst I would never try to do this as it would entirely spoil the game for me I can understand why some people do grind to max on release - its like conquering the mountain just to say you did it.

Well done to them but its not for me personally

To err is human....to play is divine

A nice quote from Aionsource.... (I don't even know why I try anymore - someone will still say something incredibly stupid in order to not validate this guy's post). Anyways.. for those who care to read...

=================================

I'm surprised that they won while getting such a horrible xp/hour ratio. I grinded on 48/49 normals in Brusthonin from 49->50 and it took me 27 hours to get my level(I was 14m in when I started that session). I was also interrupted by a Steelrake run where we killed the giant monkey boss and I farmed some 50 fortress guards for AP to get an advanced stigma in the middle of the session.

So.... I'm pretty sure they just played more and did it less efficiently or something because it was easy to get 6m/hour at 48 and 49.

And I don't think dying makes you lose 2 hours of xp... you lose 1% of the xp you need to reach the next level which is only 1.3m.

Here is your 1st legitamate single player to 50

And to answer your question about why their times differ from yours is that it is hard to tell how long something takes when you're only doing 1/2 of it.

So gratz to Seig

Why is it a uber fail. The only fail was that he left everyone behind eatting dust. Now that he is level 50 he can waste his time doing quests.

playing an MMO is not a race to max level.  I am not going to waste my time explaining all the points and fun parts to playing and levelling your character in MMOs.

Let me guess, wow was your first MMO ?

I don't see why people are so upset over this. There must be some other issues going on.

So what if they ground 50 lvls? This was their challenge to themselves.

I would think that many players choose to do things in game that some of us might also find a waste. collect pets? Housing? Role Play?

Regardless of whether they play again they made a challenge that they found of interest. And they did it. No one else has to do what they did, you are all free to play how you want to play.

we are also free to comment on it as well.  And I know thats exactly what I was doing.  I even mentioned IMO.   Also, I am not the least bit upset -- man I would hope I have more serious things to get upset over in life.  Regardless, this is a message board and me along with some others expressed our opinions on the OPs topic.

Whats the problem ?

Now I think you are personalizing it.

In general what's the big deal that these players did this? so what.

And yes, you are free to comment. I don't really believe I ever said people can't comment. But I also believe that players have the right to play how they want in a game they are paying for provided it is in the rules.

edit: ok Now I see your post. Wasn't really addressing you. If I was I would have quoted you. But in short, regardless of what you find fun in an mmo, others might also find other types of challenges enjoyable, even if they are short term.

Some collect things. I can't in my wildest dreams understand what is fun about that. But they do it and more power to them.

Never played Wow.  In order UO/EQ/Shadow Bane/DAoC/SWG/EQ2 and EvE still playing Eve. And who are you too decide for me what is fun. I think grinding is fun and ganking noobs like you is fun. Thats one of the problems with mmo's being created ..everyone has to decide for otheres what is fun and not what the player wants
