Let people call it a grind if they want, they simply mean it's boring. What's the problem if you yourself enjoy it. What, does it hurt that much to see other people having different opinions? Seriously, does EVERY fucking thread I see in a game forum need to contain debates, even in topics that has nothing with that to do. I know my little comment won't change anything, but let me express my opinion. Back to topic, 2 weeks of constant playing to reach lv50 is quite a lot compared to the latest MMORPG, isn't it? I wouldn't blame people calling it a grind if they just want to reach "end game". I've been playing since headstart and lately reached lv24, I got a long way to go, akak. I'm not hating the game if you think so, I quite like it. ESS O ESS. O ESS O. OR ESS? Bah, fuck it, just call 911. |

I know for a fact that Pengu, the 50 on my server, played his own character at all times that it was played.. he just didn't stop playing. Crazy beast and he's a human who speaks words, too. Objectiveness is delivered with a lack of personality made for the mainstream but never used for the mainstream. |

I'm kind of the opposite of people that call this game a grind who run out of quests. I usually find questing to level a grind and rather kill mobs solo or grouped. I'm still doing quests, but I kind of have too many quests. Lets say I have a quest to kill 10 mobs, well I end up killing like 80 of them, lol. A grind is really only if you find it boring. |

Nice! I gotta say I feel abit sorry for them for rushing through the content but grats none the less! lol "Kings of typos" ^^ EDIT: typo... AKA "Hater of haters" |

People who call Aion a grind just define grinding different (different is wrong in this case). I call grinding killing mobs for EXP. to level up. (This all In the case of 'grinding' being defined as something negative)

In addition to the aforementioned I also completed all of the BC quests. There IS NO WAY TO AVOID GRINDING BETWEEN 20-25. I doubt you have ever played the game yourself, since everybody I've talked to in game has told me the same thing. I suppose that you enjoy spreading lies to save your game, although if the game were any good I doubt you would ever have had the need to make them.

I dont think its a grind but no offense this is a major ignorant comment, since you have picked up the topic of L2, when LUNA the EU server opened within 2 weeks there were ppl at lvl 76 which was the cap back then, are you saying that L2 has no grind? Weather they have botted or not does not matter, if someone played for 2 weeks solid, with more than one person playing or simply playing for full days they will get to the top. There are some crazy ppl out there whose only goal was to get to 50 as fast as possible and probably got more than one person playing their accounts maximizing the gaming time. This happens with every MMO release hell I remember WoW, the first couple of L60 on my server where ppl who had like 2-3 ppl playing their characters and they got there in record time.

Originally posted by ghost047 Grind doesn't mean it will take longer to level to max lvl, it just means that you will have to do the same task over and over to level. You see when you don't have enough quest within your level range and you have to go out just killing mobs to get xp, that is a grind. It as nothing to do with the fact that some people did it within few weeks. WAR was the same at launch, they didn't have enough quest to lvl and after couple weeks, there was already some lvl 40. So don't call that the light, trying to convince yourself that because there is already 2 lvl 50 that it's not a grind. You sound like someone in a cult, can we have some of your coolaid? Hmmmm. ..... Am not in a cult at all so ...... I play the game and am lvl 30 with almost a full quest log and lots to do for the story line quest. I play a few hours a day and enjoy the game. Just tired of ppl QQing about the "Grind" and they have yet to make it past lvl 20. How long did it take you to max your lvl in what ever MMO you play ??? Or do you even play MMO's and just come here to vent ?? You are right, the point is to enjoy and have fun, this is what I am looking for in a MMO and Aion didn't delivered that to me. Imagine are these people feel if they are crying about the grind before lvl 20, they know that it could be worst after lvl 20. To answer your question, The time it takes you to get to max lvl as nothing to do with the grind, that's today's problem with MMO, people what games they can be lvl cap by the end of the month and after complain that there is no end game. Yes I do play an MMO at the moment but not Aion. I remember back in the day, when playing MMO was about the world, community, grouping with friend to discover a new world. The when no one was looking at the xp bar, we just didn't care about it, we were having fun. So let me get this right. I enjoy the game and have fun. Yet you do not and that makes it a "Grind" . you still dance around my question with what MMO's are you playing and how lond did it take you to max ? Or do you not play and come here just to troll ?? Played Aoc/DDO/FFXI/WAR / LoTRo / CO Waiting for FFXIV =)) |

What they should of done in this game is capped it at lvl 10, then started the endgame, or whatever the hell you grind whiners want. 20 man raids killing mosbears i guess, and finding equipment that gives you 5 more hit points than your last peice. end-game is a grind too you morons. sorry if you got to put some time in before you get there. i havn't played many other mmorpgs in the last couple years, but as far as i've heard in games like EQ1, EQ2 and WoW they practically hand you a lvl 50 now when you roll a new character. |

my biggest problem with Aion so far is the constant gold spam thats popped up over the last week or two. i shouldn't have to type /anon everytime i logon and shut down all my channels to avoid it. other than that it's a solid game, maybe not everyones cup of tea, but what is? as far as being a grind i really don't mind that in games as much as i do the lack of options. the original everquest was a grind game but the fact you could explore almost endless areas and had so many options as to where you leveled alleviated the tedium of grinding, atleast for me it did. the thing that bugs me the most about recent games is the linear "starter island" mentality where you are basicly forced to level in one or two areas and the whole notion of actually exploring an online world has been boiled down to "from 1-10 you fight here" "from 10-20 you fight here".. seems the newer games have somewhat lost that charm that made me fall in love with the genre to begin with... grats to the level 50's, aslong as you enjoyed yourself it doesn't matter how you got there.. peace |

fanbois and haters, get over it. Aion has a grind part, i don't say its alot, i don't say its nearly nothing, it has a grind part, i don't think many MMORPG's nowadays have gameplay with ZERO GRINDING. its usually a part, and if there is not too much grind, it CAN be ok...... |

also, for those of you who think 25 hours a week is causual, you have to understand that there's hundreds of millions of people across the world that would kill for 25 hours a week to do ANYTHING besides their career and sleep and spend a lil time with family. but they are probably the ones who work their asses off so you can sit around and play a computer game all day ,while they build up your trust fund or pay your way through college or some shit. |

Make an Elyos character on the Marchutan server. I'll come and show you that I've played if you really want. I am a templar named Valtrex on Marchutan. And YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GRIND, EVER. There are certain quests that give more XP than others, and there are at least 2, upwards of 3 - 5 places to level up during each level range. Do all the campaign quests, explore, flip flop between the 2 zones for your level range between 20-25. YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO GRIND. I can not make this any more clear. |

If you don't believe me, then look for ALL quests in level range 20-23 Asmodian, add up all of the experience and you'll get something that is barely equal to one level (if that). Here is the proof: www.aionarmory.com/search.aspx Add the campaign quests that you can do in Morheim at around 20-23 and you're only up by maybe 200k. Maybe Elyos don't have to grind, but Asmodians do.

You can't just add up quest XP and think that's all you are going to get out of the quests. Unlike in WoW, the mobs you kill in this game give substantial XP, and when you are doing a quest to kill 15 of X mob, you get that XP on top of the quest XP. I don't believe that asmodians and elyos sides are so different that you guys would spend all of your time grinding while we get all of the quests. |

So wait the other thread was complaining that leveling is too fast in WoW? |

Indeed you can't add up Quest xp, but, see, I've done all of those quests (except for gathering, which I refuse to level, since it is an incredibly tedious process like crafting). Most of them involve killing very few mobs (the exception is the REPEATABLE quest, which requires 20 mobs and only gives 10k exp reward). You also haven't taken into account how many of those quests are GATHERING quests (a lot of them are), which involve no mob killing at all. Even if I had leveled my gathering up to 120 to do the quests, I would only get maybe an extra 100-150k, while I'm still looking at 1.6 million to level. There aren't enough quests for Asmodians 20-25. If you don't believe me, then go ask the Asmodians just how they are leveling from 20-25.

Agreed. While this game is a little grindy for those who aren't used to it, it's nothing like all the overdramatic grindfest posts that people have been flailing about. |

I must tell you that gathering is actually decent experience. I am not saying it doesn't pale in comparison to grinding and legitimate quest experience; but around level 35, gathering a 260 level node gives just over 1.1k experience. Consider that you hit it three times, and that is almost 3.5k exp. This is not that bad for about 15 seconds involving three right clicks. I am just happy that I can actually gain a few bubbles when I spend the time keeping up with my extract level. Sure its not amazing, but at least its something. After all, extract vitality isn't meant to be much more than just gathering essential materials, but at least you can feel as though you didn't completely waste your time. Especially if you go and turn those herbs into grind-worthy potions, or the ore into a nice armor set. Just my two cents. |

/yawn... This happens every MMO. Usually its a whole room a college students who play characters in shifts that accomplish this. It's usually done in pairs so they can exp faster, I.E. a healer and tank combo can level faster then a solo player. They most certainly did non stop exp grind to cap already. I was grinding mobs for 3 hours last night and only got 1/3 through 24th level, so they've obviously put in a ton of hours on those characters, probably nearly every second the servers have been available. I don't really care, good for them I guess. I gotta work though, so it's going to be several months before I make 50. |

OMG, just stop with the MATH already!! It's a game, you play it to have fun!! Stop sitting there with your stopwatch out timing how long it takes you to grind each k of XP so you can be the most efficient possible. ITS A GAME, PLAY, YOU KNOW LIKE WHEN YOU WAS A KID - PLAY=FUN!! Seriously, why even play the game if your not there to have fun and enjoy yourself?? DO you really need to analyze every number to be the best at everything? Your only competing with yourself you know right? |
