I've played to level 10 thus far. I've not had any problems. I've died due to vastly stupid mistakes or for being completely lazy but thus far in S1 I have yet to come across anything really challenging. The mobs have been a bit of a joke. No healing eachother, group aggro, or any other self-survival tactics. They don't run around me in a circle to make it harder to aim at them... when I run after a ranged mob, he doesn't start backing up until I get SUPER close and hit him, and even then... backing up is like 50% speed so it does nothing to help him. I've barely been debuffed. Poisons hit me less than or equal to my own natural healing. When I ask about this in the games chat channels... all I hear is "Wait till you get to S2, it changes". Well, I came across a thread on the official forums and then this video of a level 39 fighting level 45 end-game mobs:

Is that some odd anomoly or is that how difficult it gets at high levels? I heard Sector 1 was just a big tutorial and that Sector 2 was the real deal. Hard as hell and very challenging. So far it's been "Kill 10 Coyotes, come back, Kill 20 Red Coyotes, come back" and the coyotes (a pack animal) stand around watching me as I masacre their buddies.
Can you please show me a video that proves otherwise? |

Creepers generally display more intelligence than that, lol. I'd say anomally. *** By the Nines! The cat's in the bag and the bag's in the river! *** |

The comments of the guy whose vid it is on Youtube says that these mobs are imbalanced and thats why its a good grind spot. ----- Everything that has a begining, has an end. |

Oh god. That sucks. The guy who shot that was 2 lvls under me the last time I played. Been busy as hell for like 2 weeks.

I left the game a month or two back. At that point the hardest mob in the game was taken down by a duo. You could easily solo mobs 10+ your level. When you enter Sector 2 mobs tend to me ranged than Sector 1, so can be quite a shock. Once you appropriately adjust (dumping points in Dodge) it became easy again. Ranged mobs did tend to chain aggro one another though. I actually enjoyed how ranged mobs were stupified if you came within melee distance. Made for many easy kills. -- When I left they were supposed to be implementing changes to the way calculations were made. This I would assume would make the game more challenging. Last I knew the math behind combat was broken because it wasn't factoring in mob level vs player level. That of course has nothing to do with AI. |

LOL! Welcome to MMOs. All Mob AI is freaking retarded. Want mobs to duck and cover and use flanking tactics play a Sp FPS.
Why would I play a pathetic themepark MMO when I could enjoy a masterpiece like Mass Effect, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Dragon Age? |

Video settings on max, turn OFF (uncheck) the "Post FX" box in Graphics, Settings. My system specs: AMD 64 X2 Dual-Core 6400+ (O/C) 4-GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 (O/C) Primary OS/Apps HDD's are Raid-1 (Stripped) 500gb each. Windows 7 You can do so many things to boost performance on your PC. From turning off a ton of unused services, settings in how Windows displays things, overclocking with the proper cooling and not buying super-cheap memory. |

I'd go with reality for sector 1 anyway. It was said even as far back as CB, they have the Ai scaled back in the starter zones to ease players into the combat, rather than unleash hell on them at the start. For every minute You are angry , You lose 60 seconds of happiness."-Emerson |

The challenge factor is lacking and this turns players away 3. Lack of variety. Why not make it OUR CHOICE on whether we take on difficult areas? Simply add a note: MISSION DIFFICULTY: Hard 4. The "easy" mode is extended too far into the begining. I do want it to be easy for the first 3-4 hours but after that I want it to progressively step up. |

I agree with most of your points, however you do have to consider they are going for MMO players. Those bred on shooters should have no problem in the early stages (twitch skills are superior), for those not used to twitch playstyle that probably isn't the case (IMO). I do feel they could up the difficulty a little sooner, but thats just to my own personal preference. For every minute You are angry , You lose 60 seconds of happiness."-Emerson |

I would greatly appreciate anyone who can provide a video showing that this game has some better challenges later on in the game beyond sector 1. Show me better AI please. |

I don't care about AI in a MMORPG so much, but if the difficulty is as low as people make it out to be, I'm getting my doubts of this game. I, like many other people, don't like games being too easy, but too hard is also a problem. I don't know if I'm gonna get this game if it's like that all the way to max. No challenge equals no fun. |

wut? have a blessed thread. |

this game suffers from the main problem that fallout 3 suffers from.. people expect an fps, even tho it is not.. its an RPG. and in rpgs, stats rule, not ai. |
|
Stats rules yes. Why though are the AI stats so low compared to players? I would probably buy FE if there was a challenge. Even in the recent vids of people in S2 there is very little challenge present. An apocalyptic survival game doesn't feel right when its so easy. |
