I understand your argument, however revamping the original game would actually have been the waste of money. In hind sight, had SOE incorporated the mechanics/changes that are currently in EQII (upon release) they may have ended up attracting more people, though the whole EQ vs EQII is subjective.

Its not that the games should have ever been made. I just gotta wonder what the devs were thinking. Especially EQ2 and WAR. Nothing like they should have been. |

EQ is an old game, fussing it with newer technology isn't going to work, it would be a coding nightmare. To continue the EQ lore, as it were, you would need a whole new platform. EQII is a solid game, it had a terrible start and the implementations were atrocious, but the game is pretty decent now.

Looks like every new thread nowadays is made to bash aion, or end up doing that. |

I've played (in a particular order) Air Rivals, Aion, Age of Conan, Cabal Online, Champions, Dungeon Runners, Fallen Earth, Final Fantasy Eleven, Free Realms, Guild Wars, Hellgate London, Lineage II, Minions of Mirth, Mythos, Perfect World, Planetside, Ragnarok, Rappelz, Requiem, RF Online, Rohan, Runes of Magic, Ryzom, Sword of the New World, The Chronicles of Spellborn, WAR, Warrior Epic, World of Kung Fu, and World of Warcraft.
And no game should never be made. |

What the poster said in yellow. If many of those games fall on to peoples lists of games that should never be made, developers wont learn from other companies mistakes, though at times some seem to not pay attention to other mistakes. All to often players get served with stuff that just is outright boring at times. Eventually the developer world will figure it out. Maybe. Playing: Not much actively. |

Not the OP but I can name 5 easy enough 1. a real UO 2. Seriously, the best pvp mmo of all time, needs an honest, working, not given up upon sequel. 2. Shadowbane 2, I guess you could call Darkfall this, but Shadowbane also had a shit ton of race and class combos, not just DF's three basic types. If I wanted to be a stealthing birdman who steals items from your inventory, I could. If I wanted to be a huge ass minotaur with a high end resource rolled axe to kill lvl 20's, I could. etc etc etc 3. Neocron 3 / "2.5", if they would ever do a real release in America, people would be in for a good game. Imagine Fallen Earth, but we got it several years ago. It has much better pvp aspects, better vehicles, weapons, armor etc. Pretty detailed crafting system, now toss in a modern graphical engine, a marketing campaign for places besides Europe, you'd have a great sequel/game. 4. DAOC 2, while not true open pvp, a massive realm vs realm system is still better than most carebear alternatives. slap on a graphical update, maybe some new classes, some more backstory for the lore fans, etc solid sequel 5. Tabula Rasa / Auto Assault, hear me out on these, since they suffered similar issues, yea neither game was great, but they both had aspects that were good. For examples sake, look at AA. Aside from the high sys req's at the time they released it, the game which was loosely inspired by Mad Max, had no death penalty. Now I don't know the specifics of its pvp system (could you kill your own faction?) but with no risk no reward, the pvp was nothing but deathmatch in cars. If they made a true sequel, on a scaleable engine, add in a little more actual character work so you had a choice to use a car or not, and a indepth open pvp system with penalities and risks to dying, Auto Assault 2 could be awesome. As for TR, the backstory looked sweet but from what I've read they changed the game a lot, keep that story, toss in some open pvp with the cool sci weaps, great sequel.
