Star Vault: Increased number of beta testers for Mortal Online

Server capacity is much better than expected

The initial estimate of the capacity of the first server was 10 000 players per server.
Because of the highly efficient server solution from Epic China, we are now pleased to announce that beta testing shows that the capacity is much higher than previously estimated.

"As we have mentioned in previous press releases so the developers at Epic China has done a very good job and we can therefore increase the maximum number of players together in a first rose from 10 000 to 20 000. During the beta phase, we have many players from the same time zone as play at the same time to take the server to the limit of what it can handle. By increasing the number of active accounts we get more players playing simultaneously, so let's see where we end up. This means that players who buy the license from now on, get immediate access to Mortal Online Beta, "says Henrik Nystrom, CEO, Star Vault AB.

Is it just me or is that actually a bad thing. Most likely half of the people that paid for the privledge to beta test don't login anymore and thus server space is freed up so they can now "sell" more beta spots. Oh right.. I'm not actually paying for beta I just get it as perk.

It can be construed many different ways, both positive and negative.   Generally speaking though, I think it's positive.

Hard to say without a better translation.  From the awkward grammar, I presume this is an automated translation.  As best I could make out from the translation, "the highly efficient server solution from Epic China" is allowing them to support a larger number of players on the server at the same time. If this is the case, then this is certainly a good thing.

Damn straight.

That's the only reason companies are in business and anyone thinking otherwise needs to grow up, get out of mommie's basement, and experience the real world.

People that need to grow up are the people screaming scam all over the place, its exactly like you say its for the money because they are a business.

Oh the humanity! The poor money-men, oh how they suffer living in their mud and dung hovels, subsisting on week old gruel, oh how we should cry tears for them.

Fully agree.
You people always look through prism of money ?
Then look at games being published by the largest game publishers.
Not seflpublished by indy studios.

Latest patch added LOD and plenty fixes to game mechanics.
As devs said, they should start implementing additional content.
Rumors say, housing is on the way. But I suspect mounts will be introduced first.
I wonder how taming works :/
Base plans discarded taming in a way of controlling mobs. Taming was supposed only to tame mounts.
Well, gonna see how it works irl.

So what socialist or communist country do you live in where you don't need money? That is called a utopian idea my friend and guess what, there are no Utopias on Earth. Never have been, never will be (well ok, maybe after the second coming).

If you don't look thru the "prism of money" then either you are very poor or very young.

Where money are in front of everything, there's no more fun.
I play games to have fun, thats why I have spent 20$ on zeno clash - a game made by indy studio.

btw. I borrowed oblivion 4 + shivering isles. Imo I was hoping to see something better.
For me DM has better gameplay than Oblivion. Hopefully I didn't loose the money on the second title.

I don't even touch games developed or released by the biggest game studios.
Easy games, for crowd not demanding anything above the standards.

10k preorders were sold, even when there are so many whiners crying that MO isn't "t3h game". Thats good imo. The less whiners in game, the better gameplay.

Its good for MO that this can happens as they will not have to open many servers on launch. I like SV but for some reason I do not think they have that many testers logging on at the same time. I was under the impression reading different things and listening to a clanmate that about 4k or so was still around testing at this point. I could be wrong on that though.

I signed up beta the first day you could do so.  I have yet to receive a beta invite.  If they need people so bad, then invite some people other than those who plunk down pre-order money.  Thats why I refuse to pre-order games.

Why would they let people like you in when they can let people who:

A: Want to get into beta to test the game (You have that quality)

B: Want to PAY them to test the game

C: Because they are willing to pay want to play more and HENCE will probably play/test more than you.

Use some common sense before posting please...

In regards to thread, its a good thing because at the start they couldnt handle 100 players! Then it was 200, 300, 1000, 2000, now its 10000, they are going so good with the server stability.

The problem is players arent online heaps anymore and they need more players online to do some more stress testing so by allowing more players in it benefits the beta because:

Stability isnt an issue at the moment so its only natural to let more people in.

Starvault gets more money which means MO gets more money with means the customer wins :)

A good move imo :D

Do you ever get the feeling youre being watched...

Are you kidding me Fledo??? Have you even been in game yet??? There is nothing to "stress test" the gaming world is the size of the barrens in WoW and it is devoid of life... and they are worried about stress testing that lol... This game wont release until 2011, if ever.
