I hadn't played my 360 in a long time, I have a rechargable pack on the controller (360 elite). The charger won't hold a charge at all, but even with the cable plugged in I can power the system on, but can't do anything else. Again with the charge cable plugged in, I can power the system on from the controller, but can't do anything other than that.

I only have one controller and have tried using both ports.

I don't wan't to replace both the charge pack and the controller if there's a solution to one of these.

The reason why you can turn the console on is probably because it takes very little power to do so and there probably is a bit of energy left, that would be my guess.

There are a few things you can do. First of all, make sure your Xbox 360 controller is synchronized with your Xbox 360.
If that doesn't work, try using normal batteries and see if it works. If it still doesn't work, it's probably your controller that's broken.

A lot of people have issues with the re-chargable battery packs holding charges or even charging for that matter... you may have to exchange it.

Try hooking up the USB charger on your PC instead and leave it for 24 hours straight even if it says it's charged.

I had same problem always ended up buying new batteries but due to inactivity they were messing up.

So I tried this once and it worked. Did it for all my batteries and now have 3 batteries I can use ;)

Doesn't hurt to try it yourself !
