** Ooh theeres aaa monkey in my pocket and hes stealing all my change ** |
Got the game today but quit for today very fast due to horrible delays for well over 20 seconds. Anything I do... reload/talk/loot happends 20 seconds later. Although ShowFPS tells me I have well over 140 fps at all times and it doesnt drop or anything crazy either. So does anyone know what is going on? And dont give me any lame "turn off the dls" cus that is all I got from help chat in game.

system secs? also you can open up the options, turn on FPS meter, and also the latency meter. Other than that, your going to have to provide more info for anyone to help you. ---------- "No, your wrong.." - Random user #123 "Hello person posting on a site specifically for MMO's in a thread on a sub forum specifically for a particular game talking about meta features and making comparisons to other titles in the genre, and their meta features. I would really not think it has anything to do with lack of system spec. I could play Cryzis on medium/high without much problems... FPS I said was fine, 140-160. Latency meter I have not checked, will do that.

If you don't know things like that then it could be just about anything with your system,I take it if you don't know your own system spec's you also don't run a defrag or indeed update your graphic driver's. If your system is even a year old and running on old driver''s and no defrag that could even be your problem. Have someone that know's alittle about pc's have a look at yours and update/defrag for you. |

Where are you located. Server is on East Coast so if you are in lets say...........Poland there may be some lag. Otherwise they have cleared up a lot of the issues causing that. Could be your ISP. If on wireless try resetting the router. |

RAM? if running vista you better have close to 3-4,not so sure 2 will cut it too well. Latency is the biggest issue with ALL online games.I am too lazy to check the IP so you can ping it or traceroute it,but if you have any lag,you are in trouble lol. I have already mentioned i have what is now an average machine and i can get high FPS's on what was for me default witch was i think all sliders on 75?Default i started the game in tutorial area with a steady 140-170 .In the game world i was still getting easily 50 usually around 75 and sometimes well over 100. |

Sweden I am going out on a limb and going to pinpoint that as part of the problem if not all of it. Granted some folks from Europe do fine others do not fare so well though. Have a friend stationed in England and he cant play due to horrible horrible lag. I think they will have a European server as there seems to be a definite interest in one. Hopefully it clears up for you though and you can play. |

Is it fair and ethical to offer a game for sale in an area where the performance will likely be terrible? |

Originally posted by MMO_Doubter Sure. Its as likely to be terrible in some small town in Iowa where they only have dialup as it is in Sweden. There are people who have bad performance in EVE and I wont even talk about MO beta performance. Granted I am not sure the OP knew it but most folks know there is one server located in the US and take their chances. |

Meh I think anyone would agree if you can play crysis on medium/high, your hardwares not the problem for an mmo freezing especially one of fallen earths calibre ![]() |

I would have to say your internet connection is most likely your problem. If you are getting 100+ FPS then your system is working fine.
Over the last 10 years I have played a few MMOs overseas while deployed and always get worse lag than when I play from home.
Low FPS would be a good measure of video lag which is completely independant of latency issues. Murashu ~ Shuey |

Sounds like you are saying that when you play whatever MMORPG's on an american server it would be expected to have bad performance, responce time or something, when you play from Sweden. It would be interesting to see a list of that. As I have never experienced even bad "performance" in any MMO and you say "terrible". Oh, shure, the performance is slightly better on a EU based server. In general something similar to 50ms compared to 150 ms ping time, but that is hardly 20s. So, uhm, well you wouldn't have a hard time making a comprehensive list. (Would you?) I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention. |

That will make up for alot of network problems, especially when you experience delays. If so, lower that or simply quit the program(s) temporarily. I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention. |

LMAO!
Ok, sorry, but this is really really funny. The problems ole boy is getting is the lag. Latency. Latency and FPS are two different things. The way Fallen Earth has their stuff set up is much like how CoX has their Chat System, or even other games like AoC. Different databases, and they are communicating at different speeds. Even the gameplay is associated with a different database, which would be seperate from the graphics/sound portion. LOL, what's your hard drive speed. Classic. |

MMOS like fallen earth use streaming off the hard drive, if his hard drive is full, dying, or old and slow, stalls will happen.

Yes, but that would not be latency, like his chat and interacting with the environment. With his FPS being at 100+ that kind of rules out local system as the problem for his lag. It ends up being his router, ISP or just his location. Kinda like him living in another country. It's ok to be wrong. Even way out in left field wrong. Even Christopher Columbus wrong.
But I sure got a great laugh on it LOL! |

He had dumb luck. A fragged hard drive is not going to net you high FPS. The FPS will stick when the delay happens. If he was experiencing a "horrible delay" it was the result of his packets getting all bunched up, then burst in/out, then bunch up again, etc. Having played MMOs and FPS games overseas, I know how he must feel. His system can handle Crysis, it can handle FE. And that thing I read about it being a MMO making it a different animal and not the same as FPS is bunk as well. If the guy can handle Crysis graphically, he can handle any MMO out there to date. The delay he is getting is lag. Not his system. Read his first 2 comments, it rules out anything local. |

I agree that by his description of the problem its a conection thing, but more probably on his end that on FE. |
