The Guild is a independent sitcom web series about a group of online gamers. The show started in the late summer of 2007, and for the first season was financed solely by Paypal donations from LOYAL FANS. Since season 2, The Guild has been distributed by Xbox Live and Microsoft and sponsored by Sprint.

Episodes vary from 3-8 minutes in length, and follow the Guild members’ lives online and offline.

“The Guild” has won numerous awards, including the SXSW, YouTube and Yahoo Web Series Awards in 2008, and 3 Streamy Awards in 2009: Best Comedy Web Series, Best Ensemble, and Best Actress for Felicia Day.

Hey ladies and gentlemen I thought I would share this great show with you all about a comedy web series about MMO gamers and it nails it on the head about how we have dealt or heard of these situations in all of our daily lives as gamers I urge for those of you that love gaming check out this series!! I thought this thread might be a little upbeat and more positive in the Pub due to all the negativity that goes on sometimes here. Have a laugh and relax and enjoy!!! umm ok? It's a sitcom about MMO stereotypes. Some people like it and some people don't.

I thought The Guild was pretty funny, so if your bored check out a few episodes they are short.

 I like to game from time to time, and follow it to some extent, but this is...well..scary.

I really liked the series. I noticed a lot of commonalities whenever I had met some friends from an MMO also. I just wish the episodes were longer.

The guild is actually not bad. I didn’t think much about it until I started to watch it. It’s short and not really complicated but I think it’s actually a very nice tease at today’s society.

Give it a try, it's worth it.

edit: Felicia Day is pretty cute, that's why I started to watch that show in the first place lol.

It's a funny series at times but it is a joke on stereotypes.

They had one line in an early episode I liked.

Story setup and paraphrase:

-- Gamer talking to her counselor who is trying to stop counseling her because she is "unwilling to change"

Counselor - You can't continue being immersed in this virtual world.

Gamer - It's not completely virtual - we can communicate.

Counselor - Have you seen this ppl?

Gamer - I uhh can type to them, it's good enough for the blind.

The blind line was gold. I take slack from my real friends when I spend time with "internet friends" so I can relate.

Internet friends tho are clean - not able to get me caught riding in their stolen car - they don't offer me weed over voice - they don't "borrow" my cds without asking - occasionally they send me videos spouting that they will "never give me up, never gonna let me down... never gonna turn around and... desert me".  I say it's healthy no matter what the real world ppl keep going on and on about, geez these ppl need high speed cable.

Even though its unrelated to MMO I also recommend Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog it also stars Felica Day and Neil Patrick Harris and directed by Joss Whedon of Firefly and Buffy fame.

I think on a lot of levels I'm more like the characters on the show, long gaming hours, fighting over loot, guild bank stealing etc, don't really care if its about stereotypes all I care is that it makes me laugh :)

I love The Guild man.  It's pretty funny.  I think it started out really awesome and amazing, but it's slowly gotten a bit boring.  I'm still a huge fan though.  Wish they wouldn't make Season 3 an Xbox Live exclusive.

The guild is pretty funny. I am looking forward to the new season.

Seems in the new episode Codex and Riley get a little close : like girl on girl back rub close. And Zaboo is tied up in the closet. And Clara's husband in-game toon Mr.Wiggly wipes out the party in a raid.
