i alike many of us have a 13 hr a day job but i refuse to give up my mmo addiction but it seems that every new mmo isnt casual friendly. iv played alot of mmos and i can never really enjoy any of them unless i play for more than a few hrs i want to play a game where i can log on for 30 mins and accomplish something or play for 10 hrs and never get bored... i was thinking about a game like ragnarok online ... or maybe going back to ffxi or eve but i dont know how bad of an idea that will be . im open to try any games but it seems to me like im always stuck going back to wow and then i realise that i cant accomplish much in like 30 mins like i could on eve. so if anyone could help me with some recommendations they would be much appreciated.

btw id rather play a complex poor looking game like eq1 then something new like conan (epic fail)

Some people have no choice about their current employment situation right now so it's not quite as easy as "find another job".

OP, try LOTRO.

It's very casual, with good crafting, and very immersive.

They are getting ready to release an expansion and they've opened up the lifetime subscription for $199 USD again.  I purchased this at release and never looked back.  That was nearly 3 years ago so I am essentially palying the game for free if you figure it at the $9.99 monthly fee.  The best part is, I often work numerous hours like you do for weeks at a time, since I have no re-occurring monthly fee, I don't sweat it at all if I cannot get ingame for awhile.  I play when I can.

LOTRO is good suggestion.

DDO is even better. Why ?

Well firstly you pay no subscription. So you dont feel compelled to play.

Most dungeons take around 30 minutes to complete. Which always gives you feeling of acomplishing something with your game time. Its a group game (unlike most of today MMOs) sou you also get the social co operative fun as a bonus.

All in all DDO is perfect either as Casual game or aditional MMO

Have you tried your hand at turn based strategy(TBS), or real time strategy(RTS) games?

Civ4(TBS), Galactic Civilizations 2(TBS), Age of Empires series(RTS), Command and Conquer(RTS), Sins of a Solar Empire(combo of both)

You can play as much or as little as you like and progress.  When you're out of time, save and pick up where you left off on your next play session.  None of them are too requirement intensive and can be played on a pretty basic set up.

I've not played DDO, but I'd have to imagine if you had trouble with LOTRO you'll have similar issues with DDO seeing as how they are run on the same engine.

I'd be interested to see how it works out for you.

If you think about it, report back and let us know.

I'd say play any game.

Just dont' expect to participate in every part of the game.

If you want to play a game casual, I suggest you forget about Ragnarok Online and Final Fantasy XI. Both are great games, but neither is very casual friendly.

I suggest you try Lord of the Rings Online and World of Warcraft. Both offer a great experience for casual players.

Dungeons & Dragons Online is also a good game but keep in mind, there is a lot of instancing in it.
I also heard that Runes of Magic is also pretty casual friendly.

DDO is good for what your looking for.

To me to play casual I don't want to pay monthly.

I also enjoyed Runes of Magic, the crafting system not all that great but there is one, along with harvesting.

Go back to eq1. With a supply of plat you can buy a tank or a healer bot and it makes it that much easier to play.

Eq1 is wide open enough that it's the ultimate choose your own adventure.

I personally would disagree on ddo as a casual choice as the game is primarily centered around group play.

Also in regards to age of conan, if you haven't tried it lately, they have made great strides in the game. It has a well built graphical engine that should behave on your laptop.

Never played DDO, so I'm not sure there - However I can recommend City of Heroes and Champions online (although Champions is new so lacking in content and also I'm not sure if it would run on your laptop, City of Heroes should be fine on your laptop though:))

No crafting in DDO.  Sorry.

But its as complex game as it gets. Lots of way to build character, multiclass, different weapon choices...you name it.

Runes of Magic is good if you want free traditional MMO experience. Its like free WOW.

I play both games. Ocasionally. When i dont play TF2 or some single player RPG

Thats good side of F2P. Play when and how much you want.
