I couldnt agree more. Ncsoft is a great company no matter what the haters say. Their the best company out right now IMO. And that included Blizz! lol If they continue to keep Aion running the way they have been we're all in for a great time.

People are leaving the game.  If they keep running Aion the way they are running it now, they're going to be without customers.

LOL - I wish they would as it would shorten the queues. Right now pretty much in any zone on any server at any time of the day or night there are people running around having fun. It is way too soon to take anyone's comments as leaving the game seriously as most people are still playing on their included 30 days. Possibly they won't renew but there will not be a serious drop in players for at least a couple of months and even then unless there is a fundamental problem with the game that is not likely.

Of course NCsoft can ruin everything and the game can fail but I will play until they do.

Really what have they done that drove so many people off rather than add more servers to house more players and ban the gold farmers/botters?

Not really.

I unticked the All channel so it's empty. Created a Legion tab and placed all the important stuff like whispers, legion, system info, group there.

If the unfortunate thing such as a whisper from a goldseller happens to arrive, I just use the block function and that's it.

Just for the record, I wouldn't use useless channels like global, trade or LFG anyway so no loss for me here.

Shame to see each new MMO suffer the same issue within weeks of getting going, but i can't say I'm surprised. The indignant responses and suggestions about how to get round it - as well as the screenshot with the overwhelming flood of spam - indicate a recurrence of the problem on a fairly large scale.

I have a solution for you.....

.....STOP.....BUYING.....GOLD....

Hopefully that is easy and clear enough for everyone - i'm pretty sure it would solve a large part of the problem.

 I tried blocking them, you need to block a new spammer every 2-3 minutes or so. They are catching a lot of people with a "go to this website" that looks similar to aions, then of course keylogging their account information and in turn using those accounts.

 

 

Exactly, The issue isn't resolved and I don't have faith in NCSOFT to deal with this issue. I logged into Aion today and there was a constant stream of the gold sellers in LFG. I blocked 12 of them, and a few minutes later more appeared. It's pretty bad to log into the game and see that :(

It takes me a minute tops to stop the chat from scrolling, /anon, and block the spammers (including those whining about the spammers).  For the next hour or three that I play there is no more spam only that of those not smart enough to shut up and block the spammers and stop adding to it.

I agree completely. 

When I log in - I block a few annoying spammers, I type /anon and Im good for hours.... They are taking steps to fix it but just like the lag in beta "the sky is falling"

Seriously... I think the forum QQ is way more annoying than the in-game issues' that's currently present. 

If tears could be used to keep me alive - I'd be good for years off this site alone. 

omgggggggggggggggg you guys this is nuts gold spam is like 10x more now because they spam alot faster now because ofthe delaye yeah thats right

they need to get to lvl 5 now before getting banned so they spam the hell out of general channel , they completely destroyed general chat.

NCsoft didnt fix the problem.

I rather recently started playing Aion, and within seconds of logging on I got my first RMT spam. As mentioned before any public channel is completely filled with them. Even seen private stores used to advertise RMT (who couldn't see that coming?). As a new player, it's extremely offputting. To say that this is normal and any game is this bad is false. This is the first game where I've had this level of spam in.

As someone already mentioned, WoW (arguably the largest market due to sheer number of players), has had its share of problems. However as a player I never saw it because I had SpamSentry or one of the other addons that blocked 99% or more of the spam. If a single person, outside the dev team, can make a small piece of code that can filter out spam why can't the actual developer of the game implement the same thing?

An mmorpg where you have to avoid public channels and go invisible to be able to play is not an mmorpg I'll be sticking with. I don't play an MMO so I can roleplay being a hermit.

spam gone? this thread should have been locked on sight. Gold spamming wont leave anytime soon unless you stop playing the game. Even a caveman knows this.

Ncsoft won't do much . They will do as little as possible and act like its something. I played city of heroes 4 years and my email  was always maxxed out. In fact the only one that sent email to 99% of teh players were the rmters so why have email? NCsoft wanted to give the spam sites an outlet stolen cc numbers or not it seems. Finally we get to turn our emails off--- of course by now all my friends have left the game already. I expect this game will be the same way. We will have to accept that we can't block the spambots without hiding socially this game will be taking a hit for sure

Well after getting bored with my current games...I was considering buying Aion and giving it a shot. I dont mind long grindy group oriented games...in fact I kind of prefer that sort of thing. There is only one thing that I hate worse than boredom...its gold spamming chat in a game. I can handle it if its under control and easily blocked, however, with the descriptions posted here and in other threads I can say for sure that I wont be playing Aion for this one reason alone.

As I also stated earlier in this thread and I reiterate my opinion here now...general gold spamming is not that hard or difficult to stop. Its a well known issue now. Its been around for years. For any company to "discover" oh my god we have a gold spam problem? all of a sudden at release is rediculous to say the least. The game is an asian import...meaning the asian botters probably have a pretty good idea of how to crack all of the base code in the game which is one reason its probably out of control. Yet even with that there is only one way for something like that to be completely out of control. The devs dont care and allow it to happen. As discussed in various portions of this thread..there are a million ways to stop the gold spam. They each have strengths and weaknesses and degrees of viablity yet some combination can work to get rid of 90% of the spam. The playerbase can usually deal with the remaining 10% without too much bother.

On a related note earlier in this thread...the reason the spammers dont care if their spamming bots get banned is because those bots dont actually have any in game resources. They lose a little bit of money when they lose those accounts., however, they make it all back when people visit their websites the bots are spamming. Their real characters/farmers/bots are usually embedded much deeper and several steps removed to insulate them from getting banned and their abiilty to farm gold. Not to mention the money stolen from people who actually go to a lot of these websites.

you must not know what to do then coz if your not in an legion with friends and on vent then thats your fail but idc coz less ppl to steal my things^_^
