I am curious. Its pretty established that reaching lvl 20+ in Aion is bit of a grind.
But it is required to reach so very hyped  Aion PVP.

Another game that hyped its PVP , also let you enter PVP from very first level. And not only that...
It lets you progress trough game without ever grinding PVP. The game is Warhammer Online.

It sounds like much better deal to me ... if PVP is what you are after.

So could you please spare people of grinding and wasting precious times of their lives and
explain, or compare - what makes Aion PVP better than WAR PVP ?

Please give some examples too

Actually reaching level 20 will take about a day or two and you'll be questing all the way.

About the PVP, it really depends what you're looking for in PVP.
PVP in Warhammer is a lot more accessible. You can go pvp in instance in pretty much the first hour of playing the game .
Aion's pvp is a bit less accessible, it takes a bit longer to reach the pvp area and you can't just select an instance and wait in line to go into a balanced fair pvp fight instance. You'll have to look for fights through rifts and in the Abyss.

With that said, the PVP in aion feels much more connected to the PVE in Aion. The PVE gameplay in Aion is a lot better than in WAR and with the possibility to take over keeps which give access to dungeons to your faction. You won't spend time fighting in instances in pre - set fair battle conditions like WAR's scenarios.

Which game is for you? That really depends what you're looking for.

In my opinion, if you only play mmorpgs for the PVP aspect, WAR is a better choice because you don't have to deal with the PVE aspect as much. Aion is really a game for people that find PVP and PVE just as important. It does both aspects really well but people who only enjoy PVE will be frustrated by the forced pvp aspect and people who only enjoy PVP will be frustrated by the amount of time they have to invest in PVE as well.

LOL! oh really? It doesn't take that long to get to 20 and you can do it completely with quests.

Warhammer pvp is more "fun". It is more like battleground pvp. I wasn't impressed at all with the rvr as it was essentially people running around flipping battleground objectives and keeps. In Aion the objectives can actually turn the tide of battle. and in a significant way.

Also the keeps are a lot harder to take. I also believe they affect taxes.

Aion pvp is more like a war to me. warhammer is very fun but I don't really feel connected to the world at all.

The MMO genre as a whole is a running joke considering a 5+ year old game is so dominant.

Well, I've already spent the last year on these forums and WAR forums laughing at how simple minded and awful the RvR system in that game is....and once I build up the nerve to start grinding past level 20 to see how the RvR is like in Aion, I can't honestly say....=/

Because it's similar to many pve games you got quests to do to lvl so they get bored while doing it OR play casually and expect to reach the cap fast like those that play more hours >_>.

yes aion is a bit of a grind but its STABLE

WAR had tons of fun and cool ideas, but the game crashed, and froze, and glitched, and its just no fun when 1/3 of your warparty crashes to desktop in the middle of a seige defense.

WAR had it released ina  stable condition would be a great game, but they pushed it far to soon and people quit since they couldnt actually play the game with their friends.

I don't know. Interesting. But yeah, I remember hitting 20 in 2 or 3 days in one of the preview events. And I'm nowhere near a power leveller.

Getting to 20 literally only takes a day or 2, so i don't know where all the grind whiners are coming from. It is a little harder than these easy mode wow clones we've been getting where you can get cap in like a week, but not by much honestly.

WAR pvp failed because of instances. Open world RvR was nonexistant, and when it did happen, the enemy almost never showed up so it was just one big pve raid.

Aion is completely open world and group based, these are the foundation of a good pvp game.

Correct. It certainly does NOT take more than that to get to 20. Heck, I just did 29 to 30 in a good solid day of playing and part of that was helping out in a much lower lvl and getting sub par xp.

I did 1-20 in 2 days. And by the looks of it, as I'm a quarter of the way through 30, I'll get 31 tomorrow. Well, especially if the girlfriend doesn't come over.

I would say, depending on class it can take about 2.5 to 3 hours to get to 10. especially if you know what you are doing. heck, if you know what you are doing might even take 2. Though I feel this is stretching it a bit.

To everyone feeling the grind sub lvl 20, I would say it's simply not their cup of tea. These are the teething lvls, and the exp curve rises rapidly after lvl 25 or so.

Like I've always said, Aion is Lineage 2.5.

I personaly like the fact that you have to work at it to get to level cap i tried WoW's trail version and i was at level 20 in like 5-6 hours and that was the end of that. Aion you actually have to work to get higher levels, and because of that you get more of a connection with your toon, and feel more accomplished once u get those levels. They made it really a great balance not to long not to fast, but these are just my opinions.

Aion is a better pvp game because even a pvp game in mmorpg terms needs to have a well rounded experience, there is proper crafting, the feel that you need friends to succeed and smooth combat without bugs or glitches which is essential to a mass pvp game.

DAOC was my favourite pvp game? Why? Because it provided a well rounded experience, heck I remember grinding tanglers for hours. And that forced me to actually talk to people and embed myself into a community.  I have always been looking for daoc 2, aion seems to tick all the boxes except for 2 things, theres only 2 player factions instead of 3 and 2 each faction have the same classes. In daoc the balancing must have been a nightmare but they managed to pull off different classes for each player side.

I tried WAR and decided I could get the same experiences without me and my team crashing out cause of bugs by battlegrounding in wow and have the same benefit of escaping to instances or crafting/gathering. If you want to just pvp why pay to play any mmo at all? You can always play team fortress 2, I find it more fun than WAR I tell you that now.  I blame EA for wars failure though they pushed the launch date.

Ok, so even though I haven't played Aion.... yet... I can tell you why WAR's pvp failed. Even though it was hyped up to be this big and giant "RvR" game with all of these giant battles going on and amazing explosions and gozilla himself came out and everyone battled epicly, it simply didn't happen. Why? Well, in my experiences with WAR, it was simply because no one cared. Everyone was like "MAX LEVEL ZOOM" and rushed through to get to the "End Game content" that was in WAR. So, that means during lower levels everyone was questing or doing battlegrounds by themselves. Once everyone realized that the end game content was simply what they could have done all along, however, they got bored and quit. The PvE at the top levels sucked, and the PvP was fun, but not engaging enough for people to actually care. Not to mention the lack of any risk factor in WAR's pvp. When there is no risk, people don't need help. And when people don't need help, they solo the game. Everyone soloing in a MMO = the most boring community ever. From what I hear Aion has you lose Abyss points when you die, which is a bit of a risk (more than WAR, anyway) so people will probably go into small groups in order to stay alive, and then people will get into brawls across the land. I hope this helps.

OP:
Pretty simple, WAR was not a good game.

And well, what does NOT make Aion better? They also have keeps (oops, I mean fortresses, tomatoes tomatos :P) . Guilds sieges the keeps aswell in Aion and there is actually BONUSES for doing so that MATTERS.

The open world PvP (Abyss) is as far from dead as it possible gets. Instead it is impossible to walk from point A to B without finding opposition. Thats just something you have to get used to or you should not even touch this game. Please note this only happends in the Abyss which is a zone in the world of Aion completely made for PvP. All other zones are fine. You can still get attacked if a rift opens, which happends spontaneously now and then.

A rift just means a gate between the worlds of the two opposing factions of the game. A certain number of players may pass between the rift before it closes. So what it comes down to is people grouping up into raid groups and passes, hunting down every player within sight and making specific "spy" quests.

Why are all these retarded people that even havnt tested the game complaining about the grind? I dont get it.
Ive played the game since closed beta. And I have been able to level to 30 with questing, sure I have grinded alittle.. Like 4-5-6 bars each level just to level up. Its at 30 it gets more grind heavy. And 30 takes like a week to do if you play like 15 hours a day.
So stop feking whining its already grind heavy from level 1 jesus christ.

Both games have sub-par pvp.

I would much rather play old school DAoC pvp.

I think Aion is a more refined game over War. WAR is a pathetic excuse for computer software.

I only chose mmorpg's with PvE and PvP.

I dought i will ever pick a mmorpg with only PvP or PvE.

If players come to AION only for PvP, will get frustation pretty fast, because you CANT avoid PvE in AION (in matter of leveling ofc)

If players come to AION only for PvE, well, they can TRY avoid PvP, but is not going to be easy.

If someone chose AION to play, its better to like PvE and PvP  (PvEvP).

Just my opinion, ofc.

Half of the RvR in Warhammer is instanced, so right off the bat that gives Aion a big heads up over it.   Warhammer also has no PvP risk at all when you die, where in Aion you will lose points from your ranking.  While Warhammer's PvP is accessible right out of the gate, that is probably the only time the PvP is good.   Warhammers RvR is riddled with silly amounts of crowd control later in the game.  Also capturing keeps in Aion yield real benefits that make people want to hold onto them instead of keep trading.

Aside from RvR, Aion has better graphics, better performance in large battles, better sound, better music, a better crafting system, and doesn't feel like an incomplete game.

After playing a bit, the amount of time it takes to level varies by class.

1-20 takes approximately 15 hours.

20-30 takes about 25 hours.

So 40 hours from 1-30. Less depending on if you do the 25-28 instance more often. That instance will net a level 25 80% of their level in less than an hour and possibly some good loot. Too bad theres a 16h lockout timer on it and it's only available for 3 levels.

Are you retarded?? If level 30 takes 15 hours a day, and a whole week of that then how the hell are there people that are in the low level 40 range if this game is only about 2 weeks old?? You must ether A) really suck at the game, or B) you never played and your just running your mouth.
