PS wasn't as great as all of you rose tinted glasses old folk say it was, seriously if it was that good you would all still be playing that abomination atm.

Before you say "well it was great before this and that expansion" consider this. This is the same Devs that ruined the first game and now you want them to create a sequel?

I agree with above. As much as we want a new MMOFPS, its still SOE we are talking about.......

Judge by the games own merits and the reviews after it launches. That way no hype and no anti SOE nonsense.

OMG not another.    Look SOE cannot be trusted.   Look at what they do to games and their own games.   Planetside was awesome game and what did SOE do.   The neglected it and then let it rot.    SOE is the worst gaming company on the planet.   Nothing they say can be trusted.

But that doesn't mean they can't put out a good game.

Definitely looking forward to seeing what they do with this. 

Great news. Make a forum for it and all the people wanting a big first person shooter game can go there.

Although Sci-Fi..I wonder how many more games we can exist in an already overcrowded market

Was in the beta or Planetside and a day one player and loved the game, the Dev neglect of that game is what caused it to lose subs, the updates to the game were few and far between.

Half of me is Excited for PS2 then the other half reminds the other part that this is SOE and if SOE had only been willing to spend some money to put some devs working on the original then it wouldnt have needed a sequel.

I'm really not sure how to feel about this.

Planetside was the first game I ever played online that gave me the sheer feeling of awe.  I remember clearly a two-hour bridge battle where the TR and NC were in full-blown war in an attempt to push to the base on the other side.  The was give and take, little by little and frankly I've never experienced ANYTHING like it in game since.

Unfortunately they let the whole game slide.  When I came back after breaking the population had all but disappeared and the huge mass-combat scenarios were gone.  I look forward to seeing what they can do, but I'm very cautious about whether they're capable of pulling it off.

If it comes out and is a great game, I'll play it.  If they screw it up, I'll take my money elsewhere, just like I did with SWG.  Look what happened to SWG since I left.

Why bother with Planetside 2 when CCP is releasing Dust 514 some time in the next 18 months.

It fulfils every potential PS had but never quite reached, and its made in CCP style. If PS was made by CCP, PS2 would have been a FREE PATCH.

 They'll have to do one thing and thats pick an art style thats not generic, boring and sleep inducing.  Everything in PS was just so boring to look at.  The guns, the ships, the armor.  Just BORING...at least at release.  Don't care what happened 4 years later=)

At the time, you go from playing UT2k3, then log into PS, and its like a student programmer trying to design something vs an artist.   Just horrible.  Thats what turned me off the most, besides the endless and pointless territory exchanging that really meant nothing at the end of the day.  You log in one night and you have all this territory.  You log in the next day, everything is reversed=)  Why should I care after a week playing?  Nothing I do matters.  The latency issues made playing too frustrating.  It sure looked like I was getting head shots over and over again, but they're not dying.  LAME.   

 I guess they are in the very early design stages of the game (Creating of the documentation, like the requirement documentation. Hence the questions). This means it would take them about 3-5 years before they release the game. So do not get to excited just yet. I might be wrong offcourse, however considering they have not made an official press release regarding this, but only check what people want (The requirements) make me believe this. Would not be logical to involved you costumers in the middle or late in development as you can not make huge changes without messing things up. 

It's a good start though, the fact that they ask the players what they want. However knowing SoE they will not even look at it. Only time will tell.
