Hey everyone,
I was going to stay away from purchasing another game for a while but now that I'm sick and confined to the house, I find myself bored, and thinking about purchasing FE.
Just had a question about ranged combat and movement;
Does the ranged combat involve a degree of "skill" to it? That is, if you aim at the head, does it do more damage? Or if you crouch (if you can) do you have better accuracy? Trying to find out where the traditional "rpg" elements start and the "fps" elements end.
Also, I've read that movement is kind of clunky compared to other MMOs. Anyone have anything to say about this?
Anything else you wish to say is welcome also, Thanks! |

Yes, if you aim at the head you will do quite a bit more damage. You do have to aim.. with melee weapons, with ranged weapons.. it has a degree of skill to it but not SO much that would make it a pure FPS. The aiming is a bit clunky and will depend on the enemies stats of course (dodge, armor, and melee/ranged protection)
The movement could be considered clunky for those that aren't very proficient in using it. Running, strafing, jumping, aiming, these are all very basic principles that are the same as in any adventure or MMO game, and I don't find that part clunky.
What they may be considering clunky is the different modes you can be in.. such as combat mode, where you play more like a FPS and then the "crafter" mode (which is what I call it but it probably has a different name) where it plays like a regular MMO. You can click to target (although it doesn't auto attack, you need combat mode to attack) and you can harvest, click around on your menus, whatever you want while you're in this mode.
The trouble some may have at first is going between modes. You can do this using the TAB key.. or clicking the wheel on your wheel mouse which is easier.
Overall once you get the hang of it it comes as second nature. |

Yes, you do more damage for head shots due to an increased chance for critical I think. You definitely do more damage, not 100% of the math behind it. Crouching does not affect aiming AFAIK. The mechanics behind skills such as rifles and pistols were/are modified from the last I played. I think your numerical skill affects your ability to hit though. |

Thanks for the replies.
Purchased and downloading off steam now. The switching modes doesnt sound bad at all. |
