FE is addictive. I don't even understand what it is that about the game I like so much. It has a very real feel to it.

1st of all, I have no intentions on derailing this thread.. so I do apologize.

Anyways, I hear ya Slambone and it is Funcom. I got that same taste in my mouth as well, but TSW seems pretty damn unique as this point.

Now onto FE.

FE can be addictive and overwhelming as well for new and old type of players to this style of mmorpg.

Most of the players just can't place their finger on it as well, but FE reminds me of the older style of MMO gaming we have lost to the mainstream linear themepark mmo's that are out there now.

HA! Yeah it does...

Being a HUUUUGE fan of both Sci-fi and Post-Apocalyptic style games, such as Mass Effect, Eve Online, anything Star Wars or Star Trek, and the Fallout series. And games such as the Diablo series, the darker feel really appeals to me.

Sure game play and content are very important aspects, but the "feel" is what I really take away from a good video game, if anyone understands what I mean lol.

Like, if it's a world I truly enjoy being a part of.

However I've learned that with MMOs, I'm best off taking the wait and see approach before diving headlong into a game (made that mistake with WAR and AoC [wasted over 100$ just there]) and look at what people have to say about it, wait for the unavoidable lag and server issues of a new MMO to even out and most of the time wait for a free trial.

It pleases my soul to see such wonderful responses to this game and everything it does, I will picking this one up soon I think.

I am also enjoying the game, and some of the npc's  talking to each other has me rolling in laughter. The best  stuff i have heard from npcs in years, well since UO....

The game has a decent crafting system not the best i have seen by far but its not bad. Some of the pve is really easy and some really difficult. But over all im having fun and i think thats what it is all about.

My beefs are with the interface and crafting though. Very awkward having to shift in and out of combat to loot, and having no containers to further organize the hundreds of items in-game sucks (there is a weight limit, why bother with space?).

There is a filter option in the Pack window that allows you to subdivide your Pack in different tabs according to your own liking. The looted items will automatically end up up in the correct tab and available spaces will shift accordingly.

Hope that helped a bit.

Crafting is definitely "hands off", but if you think about it - it means you don't have to spend hours in front of a grindy interface like SWG did (bless it's heart). You just craft what you want, then go about your business in-game or offline and it finished when it does.

You don't have to shift in and out of combat to loot. In your key bindings you will see an "action" button. If you press it, while pointing at a corpse or resource node or whatever, you'll try to loot/salvage it, no matter if you are in combat mode or not.

To organize the items you can simply create tabs. I have one tab for armor & weapons, one for ammo, one for crafting items, one for mission items, one for junk and one for items I can use directly like food or injectors.

Always check the key bindings when playing a game you are not very familiar with. :)

Does this game have a taming animal book? I played some of the alpha and closed betas, but never really went deep into the game. I would love to have another Creature Handler type character to play again. That was my all time favorite profession and this game would rock even more if you could have a class like that. I am still saving up for this game lol, but can't wait to get into it!

Perhaps someone else will answer with more knowledge than me... but pretty sure the answer is no. I do not see pets being a major part of gameplay, and to be honest you are so busy managing the FPS style combat (aiming) and skill bar at the same time that controlling pets as well would be a nightmare.

I'd also comment that FE seems to have deliberately shaken off the sameness of mmos in terms of expected classes. A creature handler type was your all time favourite profession in the mmos that you have already played. You are now playing FE... leave these class expectations at the door is the best advice I think, and discover anew what your strengths are in FE.

Well I did play this game in beta and I wouldn't think it would be very hard to control an animal and shoot at the same time, kind of like rifleman/CH in SWG. I beg to differ about shaking off the sameness of mmos, it has the ranged, melee, healer type class just like any other. I always liked the pet class in mmo's and would hope to have one in this game at some point.

Personally I hope the FE developers ignore people requesting the same classes as in every other mmo they've played, and do their own thing. You illustrate precisely why it is hard for games to be innovative - people say they want something different but then players want the same gameplay they've always had and are disappointed that x or y is not in the game. In this case, a pet class.

Even talking about classes in FE... there are no classes only continual choice in where you place APs... "it has the ranged, melee, healer type class just like any other" is simply imposing your preconditioned mmo thinking on the game. The devs seemed to try to meet people half way by providing build advice for people who want to think in terms of classes. What we do with that advice is up to us.

You know ,i came within a breathe of pushing the Purchase icon. Then i decide to do some homework and find the RMT are also ruining this game. How bad is the economy at this point?

I think experienced FE players should share the games LIMITATIONS with viewers,so they know what they are up against before they try the game.

Limitations like quests, how limited are they?can you repeat them?if you can,is there a point when you cannot?Using items?can a day 1 noob walk in buy from RMT and have the best of everything?Could a noob buy the best mount and use it?is there any indication that you could use multi clients to load all 4 of your players into the world at once?storage space ,how limited is it?

Storage would be the most important part of the game, because if your space was full, you would have no reason to play the game right?this is because you would have no place to store rewards or loot. How limited is the Auction house?can you sell unlimited items?

I am sure there is probably other limitations in the game,i feel it is very important the users share it with the rest of us?Limitations usually gives the best picture of how a game operates and how it will play out over the long run.

Other important issues....is there for a fact, known to be actual online GM's in the game?Since RMT will ruin your game totally,is there ways to combat it/report it?Like if i saw a name like "mwenqjgmerjrv" on the auction house selling 5 million chips, that would petty much be  a give away they are ruining the game for others. All it takes is the GM's to look over the logs and figure out ,that player was traded chips from several other players ,forming a large ring of players that are interconnected. That would be RMT activity. There was real dead giveaways and much easier ways to spot RMT in other games,i feel this game just might be hard to pinpoint them.

A day 1 noob that buys the best items in game with be sadly disappointed when he has to grind out all of his AP points and put them in the correct skills to use those items.  Much less use them effectively.

Storage would be the most important part of the game, because if your space was full, you would have no reason to play the game right?this is because you would have no place to store rewards or loot. How limited is the Auction house?can you sell unlimited items? I don't know if there is a limit, but the costs of the auction house are staggering.  Putting some items on for 8 hours or more can cost 50 chips or something remotely close to that. With a crafter heavy economy spamming high prices for certain items, or buying low selling items and then reselling for high prices would take way too many chips to be effective in any way. Not to mention with the amount of crafters in game, theres a lot of room for economical growth and trying to horde all of a single item would be extremely tough since almost all the items in the game are craftable.

I am sure there is probably other limitations in the game,i feel it is very important the users share it with the rest of us?Limitations usually gives the best picture of how a game operates and how it will play out over the long run.

Other important issues....is there for a fact, known to be actual online GM's in the game? Yes there is always a GM online as far as I've seen.  Since RMT will ruin your game totally,is there ways to combat it/report it?Like if i saw a name like "mwenqjgmerjrv" on the auction house selling 5 million chips, that would petty much be  a give away they are ruining the game for others.

Well since theres only one server, spamming anything in a chat would be like throwing up flares to the GM that you are ruining the game.  I've seen GMs chime in on the help channel if someone posts a WTS Heavy Crossbow in there a few times.. they direct the player to the proper channel.  (probably because they get flamed anyway by the players).
