Hi there, do I just need to be a member of twitter and be following cryptic on there to have a chance or recieving a key (sorry I'm not 100% sure how twitter works - even though I have been a member for 7 months lol)

we are not exactly sure how they are giving them away. but yes youll need a twitter account and to be following them both awen and zinc. since thy are giving the keys away in some fashion.

Great.  I have managed so far to keep from getting a Twitter account.  I need another time-draining website like I need another hole in my head.  But for the chance at a closed beta key, well, perhaps it's time to start Twittering... err Tweeting... err however it's said.

In seriousness, though, I see @CrypticZinc, @CrypticDiamonds, and @CrypticAwen all use Twitter.  Are there other developers or representatives of Cryptic who also use it?

Yeah, I didn't start using Twitter myself until around PAX weekend. Just recently, I made an account because I was tired of having bookmarked pages and checking them individually. lol

@CrypticMatt, @CrypticAlivet, @Cryptic_Kestrel, and @cryptic_rekhan all use Twitter as well. I'm sure there's probably some others, but those as the ones sticking out in my mind.

Ive been thinking about getting into this twitter thing because of STO.  I'll be doing it now.

I understand the idea of it all but i never saw a real use for it until STO.

They're big teases. Last time she said that I didn't see anything happen. :-o

They've been hit-or-miss with their contests.  Greatest of intentions but really poor follow-through.  There was this "Special Envoy" forum title that was supposed to be granted for people who registered on the STO forums this past June or so.  It just kinda' faded away...

It's very unfortunate. My big hopes are that as we get closer to beta, they'll get more serious on their public relations. There are plenty of accounts of people staring at twitter for hours waiting for some pop quiz to show up. But it never does, and they just end up wasting their time. I tell my friends about the last time Awen promised a key, and then they finally go to sleep... :)

I haven't been following STO online like I was when the STO.net site was around and PE had the license (lost interest for some reason).

I can tell you guys right now if your looking to get into beta (closed or open ) for this game I know of two ways that's pretty much a guarantee.

One was to pre order Cryptic's Champions online (with 6 mos sub) and the other is getting a subscription to File planet (gotten into every beta by being a member with them).

The twitter thing is pretty good though, and if I wasn't going to be beta testing The Old Republic, I would actually test this game.
